Not having that we’ve lost. Get those 2 on and Dervisoglu and play 4-2-2-2.

Changes required at half time. Too many performing under par and the defence looks really nervous

Tella down the middle, cork on for Barnes. The best bfc is with Vitinho at rb maatsen lb Bayer and THB in the middle. This defence is all over the place.

Re: Sunderland vs Burnley Match Thread
I'd be tempted to use all 5 subs at half time, it would be a toss up who to bring off though.
Re: Sunderland vs Burnley Match Thread
Another flat performance, played like a training exercise, zero tempo, zero anything going forward. We got away with it a few times this season because we simply have way better players than other teams, today we're getting exactly what we deserve. Where is the tempo to our play? the high press? everything is just so slow and ponderous.

A midfield full of lightweight midgets was always going to struggle against any half decent sides in this division

I just hope VK learns from this. He's still a young manager and it's games like this that test you.

I’m always willing to give our players a real chance, but I’ve finally snapped today.
Muric is bloody shite at goalkeeping.

Chance for wholesale changes at half time cannot be worse than that dross we have been serving up first half
Re: Sunderland vs Burnley Match Thread
Before today we had five games to play before we face Rovers so don't get your point.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Oct 22, 2022 3:54 pmI guess he has his reasons, Cork on 4 bookings for starters. We would prefer he plays against Rovers wouldn't we?
Re: Sunderland vs Burnley Match Thread
Well that was a hard watch on the stream. The only reason Sunderland are winning this is that they seem to want it more, which is unforgivable.
JBG off
Barnes off
Cork on
Jay Rod on
At the very least

Re: Sunderland vs Burnley Match Thread
Watching on a stream and we look so disjointed, with a distinct lack of quality throughout the team. Suspect the unbeaten run makes players think we are unbeatable. Crying out for changes-JBG and Barnes need to go from start of second half. Sadly when we play like this it emphasises the short comings of certain players. Taylor is not a centre half-we are losing and 70% of his passes are backwards. He is the obvious LB as Vitinho does not challenge attackers. We may need to risk Jay for 30 minutes and bring Bastian on for JBG
Re: Sunderland vs Burnley Match Thread
If Barnes comes back on after HT I give up.
Re: Sunderland vs Burnley Match Thread
I don’t understand VK moving Vitinhio from right back when him and Teller work do well. Connor Roberta is dire. Put Charlie at LB.

Our build up play is ok if it's 0.0 but we are chasing the game at 2.0 and it's pedestrian to say the least . I don't mind losing but roll your sleeves up and show some fight .

Having seen the goals again not sure why Muric is getting any blame? Played percentage for the first and was unsighted (Roberts stood in front of him) for the second

This from someone who once had a go at Lee Grant for not saving a shot that went wide!

Sorry, I think it's to do with when the bookings get wiped off... something I thought PB mentioned in commentary.

Re: Sunderland vs Burnley Match Thread
Considering how bad we've been defensively for the goals especially, singling out Barnes as our worst player by far seems extremely harsh
But it is entirely fair. He has been that bad. Zero contribution whatsoever

That was spectacularly bad.
Need 3 changes at half time. I think he'll make two though.

Plus, weren’t we told we were only going to improve as the season progressed? That half was as bad as anything.

For the 2nd he let a shot in from 10 yards that was very close to him.
He just hasn't got any goalkeeper instincts in him.

Re: Sunderland vs Burnley Match Thread
Wish I'd stayed home. That was pitiful, and inept.
We struggle to keep the ball on the deck.
Everytime we knock it long we give the ball away.
Tella wasting his time on the wing.
Charlie Taylor can't pass to save his life.
Get caught short at the back post whenever a team breaks on us.
JBG in the middle just doesn't work.
Ash Barnes, why........
When we do shoot it's 5ft over the bar.
Trying to run through players, instead of round them.
Our performance has only been slightly better than the referee's, who has been a real homer, but that isn't why we are getting beat, it's because we have been clueless.
We have a lot of talent on the pitch, but we don't have a lot of brains. Without Jack we look lost, rudderless, we need someone with nous in January.

Don't understand how muric is becoming a scapegoat? The entire team have been terrible. The changes have got rid of all of our balance and we need a huge second half. I'm still confident we can draw this but need vk to make the right decisions now.

A bit embarrassing digging a young player out who has been nowhere near our worst today, but I’d expect this from you as it’s clear from your posting manner what a pathetic individual you are. We clearly need to change things up and the pace of Benson is a good alternative.
Never used the word world beater by the way, think it’s the second time you have done.

Re: Sunderland vs Burnley Match Thread
Ok it was bad but still 45 mins to go , now get a goal and it could change things .
Sunderland have done well scored twice and are happy to sit back and let us pass around the ball in our own 3rd of the pitch .
Think positive .

Very poor all over the pitch today.
We need the defence that played against Swansea. Taylor seems to disjoint our build up play. When he receives the ball he still doesn't know what he is going to do with it. Beyer is so much better with his thinking and scanning of the play and is much more fluid when coming out of defence. With our new style of play this is needed. I would also play a midfielder instead of Barnes. He is holding nothing when passed the ball and just constantly loses the ball. He doesn't bring anyone into play. I think he made 1 successful pass whole half and i cannot remember him keeping possession apart from the 1 pass

Re: Sunderland vs Burnley Match Thread
Just seen the goals (about 10 times for each one) - for the first their guy collects ball from the throw and 3 of our defenders try (and fail miserably) to tackle him. As with a lot of the goals we have conceded we get dragged out of possession. Second goal - we are out in trouble by the long ball over the top - but why did Muric not come for it ? Definitely round pegs in square holes today.
