Good real ale would be a bonus yep
I'd recommend the Ivy House. It's just outside Park Lane bus station and a little out of the centre. It's a bit of a walk though to the ground as it's the furthest part of the city centre from the bridge to get over to the stadium. Smallish pub and you might need Google to find it. Alternatively the Dun cow right next to Sunderland Empire.

Ive always parked around 20-30 mins walk from ground on the streets next to Northern Way / Dean Terrace roundabout off the A1290. Bit of a walk but you're straight out and onto the A19 with no queues after the game.
Thanks for this mate - went with the tip and glad we did :)

Parked over the bridge first left 100 yards on left. Would recommend back at car by 5.10.( Charged 5.50 all day). Left out of the car park straight road little queuing and back in Accy just before 8.

Crash on the A1.
We got caught in that, then missed the kickoff due to the ridiculous queue at the turnstiles. Thought it was going to be one of those days!

Parked for free outside a cracking little boozer on the shores of the Weir which had loads of free parking and only a 20 minutes walk from the ground.

The pub was a shrine to Sunderland FC and the history of the Cities ship building past in a really classy way with lots of pictures from the old days and Sunderlands cup win of 73
