It's .a proper derby....where a head butt and a good kick in the balls is deemed a fair challenge.

Care, are you kidding. I need a 5 - 0 reverse. If you were there you WILL understand.
My first Derby game was that horrible day.

It matters more than any other game this season, by an absolute mile to me. I am surprised about the ambivalence on this thread

Can’t stand them.

I’m still hoping Venky’s pull the plug on them and they disappear into oblivion.

I went to St Augustine’s in Billington. 2 buses from Burnley so 99% of pupils and teachers were bastards. I had to go in after that 5-0 loss and get the Pisa ripped out of me by teachers and pupils.

What really ****** me off is they were all fair weather fans. I was watching Burnley play in the arse end of nowhere every other week. Most of the rovers fans didn’t bother going on.

I hate they’re sense of entitlement

Hate no.... that is too far. I do dislike a lot of their fans though. The smuggest, most plastic weapons you could wish to meet in many cases.

I live in Hyndburn, drink in a pub that has just about more Burnley fans in it. They are insufferable when they are doing well. The first 3 games they had a bloody open top bus booked for a tour around Darwen and Blackburn.

I was also at school in Blackburn when they won the league and we werr relegated. It was truly horrible. Worst month of my life. They absolutely mugged the few Clarets there off in a big way.

As a passionate Claret this means more, it just does. Seperated by 7 miles, they had the upper hand for many years, now we have I don't ever want to see us relinquish it. Come on you Clarets

It's good to have local rivalry in football as it adds a bit of spice to the occasion, the more bitter the better.

It should be a cracking, hostile atmosphere with the ground full to the rafters

That's a mantra that I can understand. Particularly the first bit.
It's probably why I would want them to beat man u and the victims but lose to the other 89 league teams.
I like Dahl tomasson, which is unfortunate.
I don't mind their shirts - in fact I have a grasshoppers of Zurich shirt which is similar.
I even like horse, when it is served with chips tomatoes, mushrooms and peas as a well cooked steak.

Not bothered, I see Leeds as our rivals due to work colleagues.
The song singing by the CFS is embarrassing, but we have to remember that a small proportion of fans are locked in a primitive tribal mindset and need a real or illusory set of adversaries to hate to justify their Neanderthal behaviour.

This

The only thing missing from our side now is for us to absolutely batter them

Once that is done, then I think I will be content

Its only a game though, and it will be gutting to lose, but its not like it was when we were leagues apart and looking like ever playing them would be a dream

The rivalry has existed over a hundred years and apparently existed before football. Derby rivalry is great for atmosphere and long may it continue but hatred is a waste of energy as the people you hate either don’t know or don’t care, thus you are only hurting yourself.

For our southern Clarets who don’t feel the emotion I think it’s just a case of ‘you had to be there’.

Gonna get pelters for this post I’m sure but sod it here we go…

I grew up in the middle of Blackburn and Burnley. Half my family is Rovers, half is Burnley. Half my friends are Rovers, half are Burnley. The derby is probably as much of an important part of following Rovers to me as any other aspect. Never to the point of any physical violence although I have ran into sticky situations a few times with Burnley fans in the past on nights out etc but that is something I’d never actively seek because it’s ridiculous…

I do wonder though if when someone Burnley fans push this narrative of “we’re a real club with real fans, rovers are a fake club with fake fans narrative” that they sound more smug and up their own ass than any Rovers fan could possibly be?

Rovers’ attendances and following fluctuates with good and bad times just like any other club including Burnley. There’s been occasions we’ve taken great away followings to places, there’s been times when we’ve took awful ones to places much like 95% of other clubs.

I know Rovers fans who’ve been to every away game on the bounce for years on end and Burnley fans who don’t even go on the Turf and vice versa.

This thing about Burnley fans being some sort of elite level of supporters as a rule and Rovers fans being fair weather as a rule is blinkered.

And there’s an irony in it when you team it up with the notion that Rovers fans are the smug ones.

There ya go… bring on the replies haha!

I Would be happy if we never played them again.

The term "entitled fan base" if the most accurate you could use to describe them.

Should be a good game, and hoping for 3 points like every other. Beyond that I’m not bothered.

No one outside of both sets of fans cares about this game by the way.

12 years Accy Blue.

If you want smug, you’ve got it. Planes over a 4th division football ground when you’re being bankrolled by a tax dodger. 35 years digs when you have essentially been unbeaten for 11 games.

15 wins, 7 draws and 9 losses since Oct’62.

Joke of a club.

It definitely matters more than the others but I saw a poll on twitter suggesting 75% of fans would rather beat Rovers home & away than win every game for the rest of the season?!

Not sure if that was real, but do find that odd since it would guarantee us promotion! I’d gladly sacrifice bragging rights for that

It's another 3 point game, pure and simple. There is a side show of course but I'm sure VK will prepare the team as normal and try his best to insulate the squad from the inevitable hype from the media/fans.

I enjoy the banter that a rivalry bring but hate when it is taken too far. I know middle aged men who will only refer to them as B**tards and I find it cringeworthy

It's many of their fans more than the club itself that I dislike. Fans who went quiet as soon as we were better than them, said they were going to turn their backs on the Venky's until they left, only to start returning when results picked up. And now have started to slowly come out of the woodwork. If you're a respectable fan you don't do that.

Loads of friends and family who are B**tards, and it's all good fun until the day. Then even though I know better, I still get sucked into believing the pantomime is real.

Anyone old enough to remember their attitude in 1987 needs no further justification for hating them. The last 10 years in Clitheroe have been bliss thanks to a combination of Sean Dyche and the Venkys and I would like another 20 please which should see me safely six feet under or drooling on a dementia ward. How anyone can treat this as just another game is mind boggling.

The best way of looking at this is that they are now as desperate as we used to be about how we are doing

That is supremely satisfying
