I do t think Wood would fit in this side at all. He’s more Barnes like (admittedly better) than he is Jay like and Barnes looks like a fish out of water with how we play.

Vydra on the other hand would have been very handy in this set up.

I wonder if Vydra is still doing his acl rehab here. He would have a field day with these balls played along the edge of the box. Would be good to get him on board when he is fit.

I don't think it was overegged. His first few games he was like a headless chicken, ran everywhere but no end product. His shooting and crosses were all over the place.
What can't be denied is how much he has improved. He still runs around, but a lot more controlled, and his shooting and crossing is loads better.
A massive asset to the team now, and a real match winner.
