the fans who were leaving after 89 minutes
1. I have no idea why you would do this?
2. Try getting behind the team for the whole game instead of sneaking out early.
3. I hope you have learnt your lesson.

They have been doing it for the seventy years that I have been going on the Turf.pushpinpussy wrote: ↑Thu Nov 03, 2022 9:41 am1. I have no idea why you would do this?

Did they affect the result? No!
They paid their money to go and watch and it is then an individual choice whether or not they stay until the game is ended.
Quite frankly, it is nowt to do with anybody else what they choose to do.

Re: the fans who were leaving after 89 minutes
annoys me immensely. Fairweather fans. only interested if we are winning. guy seated near me in the Bob Lord went to the bar/toilet 3 times in the first half. another 3 times in the second half and wasn't seen again after 75 minutes. delusional.
Re: the fans who were leaving after 89 minutes
When I used to have to get the train from Blackpool to matches it was very tight getting back up to Manchester Road for the last train back after midweek matches. With there being a total of 17 minutes injury time being added to the 90 I’m fairly sure I’d have missed that last goal if I was still making the Manchester Road dash.

What if he has an illness? To look at me I’m an otherwise fit and healthy 43 year old but I have medical issues which means I often have to go to the toilet at short notice frequently. I hate going to events and not sitting on the end of the row because I know people like yourself tutt and roll their eyes and make assumptions based on nothing.pushpinpussy wrote: ↑Thu Nov 03, 2022 9:48 amannoys me immensely. Midweek game when people will have work and school the following morning, and as pointed out some folks may have transport to catch.
Nearly 20 minutes added on plus the kick off was delayed by a couple of minutes I'm not surprised a few decided to beat the rush.

Against Reading a young woman of around 30 stood up and left around the 70 minutes mark and said to all around her "I would sooner watch paint dry". I think I do need a new seat thinking about things.

With small children it's the difference between being home within 30 minutes or it taking well over an hour. Stop being so judgemental and enjoy the win, be glad that you saw the winner when we missed out

Re: the fans who were leaving after 89 minutes
Why do people complain about this? It’s a free country and people can choose when to leave. What if they are on public transport? What if they have to be somewhere else? What if they just want to damn well go for whatever reason they choose? What about people like me? I don’t go to most games because I have other commitments but in the past I was a season ticket holder and at one point never missed a home game for ten years (with exception of one pre season friendly). I spent a fortune travelling to away games. Do I not count as a ‘proper’ fan? I’ve paid my dues to Burnley FC and probably so have the people you choose to moan about (those who do). I’ll get to some games this season and when I do I’ll be as passionate as anyone. Probably more than the moaners who think people should be chained to their seat till the final whistle.

Exactly, I know families where its a choice of leaving on 90 mins and getting away, or not going to night games.
Sorry Jimmy you can't go to the game because some moaning old Minnie doesn't like you leaving early...

Imagine getting angry but other people choosing to do what they’re entitled to do, when they want to do it. If they missed the excitement then tough luck to them, but if they choose to leave that’s none of your business.

Its the getting up 3 or so times each half that gets me, more than the guys who leave early(and may have a good reason to). I am certain that if you were to ask the ones that constantly get up who we are playing, they would not knowpushpinpussy wrote: ↑Thu Nov 03, 2022 9:48 amannoys me immensely. Nonsense. I leave on 85 minutes whether we are winning or losing. Sometimes I miss winning goals, sometimes I missing losing goals, sometimes I miss nothing at all. That is my choice and I am happy with it.pushpinpussy wrote: ↑Thu Nov 03, 2022 9:48 amannoys me immensely. Depending on traffic, it’s the difference between getting home 30-45 minutes later than I do, to a young family I’m eager to get back to. My partner is kind enough to reach a compromise that I can get to games despite our childcare burdens and in return I try to limit the time I’m away and not giving her and my children the support that they need.
The atmosphere at the ground was utterly dead for the majority of the game last night, and so often it’s the same people whinging about early leavers that are sat on their hands waiting to be entertained before they’ll get behind the team. The difference is that I won’t complain about it, because I understand that however people choose to support our team is their right and doesn’t diminish their Patronage.

exactly why I left, I was late setting off so was parked a fair way from the ground, I left on 87 minutes and that 15 minutes probably meant my 8-year-old got to bed at 10pm rather than 11pm.

I'm more worried about people who genuinely do not understand why some people leave early.

Re: the fans who were leaving after 89 minutes
OK some folk leave early ... they might have good reason ... a job to go to on a night shift etc ... Train to catch if a match over runs ... a message from home of a crisis ... or whatever ...
Its nowt to do with anyone but them really.
Yes its an odd thing to a lot of us but why moan on a fan forum ...
Its their prerogative to do what they like (they have paid for their seat not you lot moaning) and if that means missing out on the excitement we had last night ... Tough on them

People make their choice to stay or leave. Ladt night they missed 2 goals and some real excitement.
Some may reflect, others have other timescales to meet for transport etc.
I got home at 4.02am! Ouch.

I often go back on call at my local fire station at 10pm on match nights and have a 20 minute drive to get back to within my 5 minute on call limit. So I have no choice but leave early on occasion.

Re: the fans who were leaving after 89 minutes
I leaned my lesson about leaving early in Nov 1982. We were playing Wimbledon, who were second from bottom, and much like last night we had dominated only to find ourselves 1-2 down when they scored with a deflected free kick in the 81st minute. I decided I had had enough; we were in the early stages of a 20 match unbeaten run but would have been in the bottom 4 if we had lost. I had just got past the bee hole end toilets when there was a roar. We had kicked off, Vince Overson had taken a few strides and then absolutely wellied in the equaliser
Re: the fans who were leaving after 89 minutes
pushinpussy, I was one of the people who left 2 minutes before the end. 3 weeks today I was on an operating table having my arm separated from my body, for a surgeon to saw through my arm/shoulder ball and socket joints and replace them with a metal ball and socket. 2 days after the Op I attended the Swansea match, which I also left just before the end. This was to avoid having my shoulder bumped into by anyone leaving the ground and possibly ending up back in hospital.
But you and others take it upon yourselves to wrongly assume supporters just want get away to avoid being late home.
Adding to that, the last home goal I missed seeing was in 1974, when I’d been drinking pre match and went to the toilet during the game and we scored. That was the last time I went to the pub pre game.
