Do we have the leaders
Do we have the leaders
Looking back at a few photos ie when Tarky confronted a fan that ran on, When Shackle scored against them just stood like a mountain, when Duff stood so proud they just seemed to bounce off our defenders under Dyche.
This is not a criticism of any player just a question to be asked of this young group
Does this team have what it needs to beat them and so importantly keep them out?

It’s a good question. Don’t forget Corky has already scored against the Stronzi and we have a guy in charge who knows what Derbys are all about.
Anyway, we will find out tomorrow.

Re: Do we have the leaders
I think Kompany made the point that for the way we want to play we have to trade some things off.
Having the “big” centre backs is one of them.
Proof is in the pudding as they say.
Jay is certainly a leader nowadays and will help massively from set pieces.

Re: Do we have the leaders
Tomorrow will tell us a lot about our squad, however they'll be hurting after last week and will want to answer their critics in style.
The older heads and the manager appear well aware of the importance of this game, equally we don't want them too fired up, yes we'll have to compete naturally, but equally we also need to play our football.

I think Cullen could be the answer or Barnes.

Twine to lead the attack tomorrow, he'll come off the bench and score the winner

Re: Do we have the leaders
Cork, Jay, Cullen, Brownhill.
England U21 Captain.
Plus we have better 'footballers'. Important.
Two outstanding wingers at this level, granted one who may come off the bench.
They have a very dangerous striker who scores great goals, and young players who are doing well, being fair.
Bring on tomorrow.
UTC.

Can't see him being on the bench for that scenario to play out.AGENT_CLARET wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 9:08 amTwine to lead the attack tomorrow, he'll come off the bench and score the winner![]()

There fans will probably be asking the same question, yes they have local lads but there 18/19 year old it could work or could be a massive problem for them

And Twine not being on the bench tomorrow

Re: Do we have the leaders
Would be a good option for set pieces alone if needed near the end. But then a one legged Twine would be a better option than letting Brownhill take a free kick

Re: Do we have the leaders
I doubt it will happen but Barnes is a great player for a game like this irrespective of what many people on here think. I’m also not suggesting he should necessarily start but might be good off the bench. He’s scored in midweek and made a difference against Rotherham but most importantly he is a leader with bags of experience.

Re: Do we have the leaders
The likes of Barnes will certainly have an important role tomorrow both on and off the pitch, doubt he'll start even if Jay's ruled out, but I can certainly see him coming on in the latter stages, hopefully to help us see the win out.Hibsclaret wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 10:19 amI doubt it will happen but Barnes is a great player for a game like this irrespective of what many people on here think. My question is...do they have the leaders?
I think they will be more worried than us!

Re: Do we have the leaders
Serious lack of leadership on display last week. The shape just collapsed and we didn't fight for balls in the box. Think Barnes might be important. Browny and Jay will be important. Would like to see Lowton play.
Re: Do we have the leaders
Some/most of the Rovers lot have been at the club for a long time and are local lads, so that may be a positive from their perspective.
But of our assumed starters of Cork, Cullen, Harwood-Bellis, Brownhill, Rodriguez... they all have enough about them to lead us through this game. Barnes and Lowton behind the scenes. And without doing the research I imagine Beyer, Benson, Zaroury and Vitinho have all played in tasty derbies before too.
Kompany has played in these sorts of games. No worries from me that he's imposed the importance of it.
Oh, and we have the better players.

Re: Do we have the leaders
With reference to tomorrows game; we have more than enough QUALITY to win the match. I’m very confident that if we turn up and keep our heads we win the game because we’re better than them.
With reference to the subject title of this thread; I don’t think we have enough leaders in our team and that is one of the main reasons why we have conceded the types of goals we do. We don’t have enough players who take responsibility and make sure that they are the ones who will win the ball back or attack a cross - too many in this squad seem to leave it to someone else to go and win the ball….and nobody ends up taking the responsibility.

Good call on Lowton, but unfortunately I don’t see it happening for some reason

Time for men.
Re: Do we have the leaders
We’ll see a great reaction to the 5-2 thumping we had last week. Perfect that lot will be on the receiving end.

Re: Do we have the leaders
The referee will play a huge role in this fixture.. Benson and Zaroury will be targeted and he'll need to be assertive early to keep control
And he'll need to add on appropriate time to account for our 3 goals in each half

I'm glad someone still has a positive mindset, and yes I also believe we'll see a reaction from last week.
Key players returning, and the week of rest will do us wonders I feel.

Glad for the longer rest, which some players certainly needed notably Tella, and having Cork and Jay Rod back will be huge. We certainly have the required quality, we just don’t want to get dragged into a slog of a game.

Absolute nonsense. In 8 and a half years how many times has that happened? I remember one at Everton. I guess we shall see. Off the bench to bag the winner.

They are footballers, not gladiators.
To most of these players, both sides, it's just another day in the calendar. Of course they will want to win it, it's the fans who create the bigger issue.

The thought of Barnes coming off the bench to score the winner , while a lovely sentiment, is as far fetched a scenario as you could come up with

All a bit much. While the players will be up for it due to the atmosphere etc, most do not have the same emotional connection to the fixture and will look to just play the game, which is a good thing imo.

Re: Do we have the leaders
This is what we should expect. Rovers have won most tackles in the league. The have won every game when they have scored first. They will 100% go man on man with a high press and be very physical. They have never won or drawn after they have gone behind. The full back marking Benson will try and take him out They are a bag of shite

A Blackburn knuckle dragger will take out one of our flair players very early on in the hope of catching the referee cold, getting a yellow instead of a red.
