Newcastle Tonight
Have a funny feeling Chris Wood could score tonight. Got a typical Wood goal in the League Cup and scored last weekend too-Wilson is poorly and on the bench

You're stretching it by even referring to him as a footballer.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Sat Nov 12, 2022 11:29 pmChris wood is living proof that you can make stats suit any argument. Awful awful footballer

Burnley’s top Premier league goalscorer is an awful awful footballer. Wow.

Michael Ricketts scored on his debut too.

A player that got double figures in terms of goals for four consecutive seasons.
Only matched by six other players at the time.
If he was that bad why haven't more players in the Prem got double figures for so many seasons?
Re: Newcastle Tonight
His goal return for us in a team that didn't create much was outstanding.

Re: Newcastle Tonight
Chris Wood was truly awful and receiving an amount of 25 million was quite astonishing.
Re: Newcastle Tonight
Would we have stayed up with an enthusiastic Wood ? Possibly, Newcastle knew what they were doing and I will never be persuaded otherwise that he was tapped up ages before he went to assist his new employer by being crap for us.

I agree with youSteve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 9:27 amFor someone ‘truly awful’ he’s got a pretty amazing goal scoring record at the top level of football.
Re: Newcastle Tonight
He played every single minute and took penalties in a team that was fully built around him, the team played for Wood to score. The team played detrimental football to benefit Wood. Wood's inefficiencies handicapped the team into wellying it long and high.

Re: Newcastle Tonight
Funny one is Wood, for someone who’s cored so many goals he was never a crowd favourite.

Some staggering levels of stupid on this thread.
Re: Newcastle Tonight
As is often to case on here, there's a huge space between truly awful - which is pure bellendery- and brilliant and Wood belongs somewhere in the middle.arise_sir_charge wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 9:39 amFunny one is Wood, for someone who’s cored so many goals he was never a crowd favourite.

Re: Newcastle Tonight
Scored more goals for Burnley than anyone else in the top flight since Andy Lochhead. What’s awful about that?

Re: Newcastle Tonight
Newcastle last night were very impressive.
They were tigerish all over the pitch not giving Chelsea players a moment's piece. There is some obvious talent there too.
Wood did OK, as did Pope (including his well learnt time wasting tactics which cost him a yellow card) but it is clear that Trippier is pretty special still.
