They most certainly do.

In fact, wasn’t it you who wanted us to get thumped 5-0 at West Ham the game after we sacked Sean Dyche?

Let he whines without sin cast the first stone and all that.

Some clueless fans. Absolutely clueless. Interesting his first goal he knocked the goalkeeper into the net as well as the ball.

I was one slagging him off and I stand by that. His performances were horrendous. Today though he was brilliant. He looks as though he’s adapted his style of play a bit. Doesn’t seem to be going down as easy now. He got a standing ovation from myself today, I hope he can continue performing like this for the rest of the season.

Previous games this season.. And last.. He was shite, the ones who are clueless are those thinking today negates those crap games.... He was superb today, but shite those other games when people slagged him off

If you can't see that, then it's you who are clueless

To me Barnes is the best £400,000 spent on most players in the last 10 years ...he us not what he was ...arguably he should not even be on the bench...but I was really pleased for him today ...

Why we have to fans who completely castigate and other fans who point our the errors of their way I do not know...

He deserves respect and big congratulations today ...but I hope we can still buy another striker in the window

Your such a bore. A cluesless one as well. Barnes like anyone of the old era has had to adjust. In certain situations he is good as he was today.

Brilliant today and mid week but if you’re using this to have a dig at those, who like me thought he’d be poor, I’d suggest you’re clueless.

I love him, he was outstanding but let’s not get carried away, if he plays every game… tbh I don’t even want to say it, joes not the time, let’s just enjoy the win

He's been so poor for about three years, but there were signs on Tuesday night that he was looking a bit more like himself

But he was terrific today, and its nice to remember how good he still can be

But anyone saying he's not been shocking for at least three seasons is essentially lying to themselves to try to make internet points

And that is beyond pointless

You’re not able to do what Barnes did today unless you stay 100% committed to the cause

Gives us much more height in both boxes, which after what happened at Sheffield Is no bad thing. He actually is pretty technically gifted, he’s more than a battering ram which is what we’ve been used to seeing.

Was a top performance today and deserved his goals. He’s out of contract in summer, he’ll be gone, but if he continues to play like that when called upon the team will massively benefit.

He had a long lay off with injuries and then I think played game after game after game either starting or as a sub missing chance after chance
Result confidence gone
Scores against Crawley and I think that helped his confidence
Certainly something clicked and back today was the Barnes of yesteryear AND none of those fAlling over tricks
And yes 8 years for £400K and was it 6 in the top flight?

Loving the affection for Barnes from the whole team today which shows just what a team guy he must be. However when jay is fit I’d sooner have jay back. Horses for courses and all but jay would get the nod, not even a close call imo. So as the thread title suggests, the op is probably right.

Some of his performances this year have been crap, but him burying that header then punting their keeper into the net will live long in the memory, get in Barnesy!

Absolutely immense today. The Ashley Barnes we all want playing for us. No “oh I’ve been fouled ref, please give me a free kick” ********. Just ash the bash. Proper got amongst em from the off and he just wanted it more than them.

Classic Barnes.

If Barnes never kicks a ball in claret and blue ever again, he and every Burnley fan who witnessed his performance today will , for the rest of their lives , will never forget today!

Good on you Ash !!!

The words of the the song Who put the ball in Bastards net should now have 2 verses to include Scotty and Ashley
