We are so lucky to have him. Fantastic player who will pay a massive chunk of our debt off in a couple of years.
The other thing I love about the guy, is how humble he seems in interviews. He seems a really good egg

Re: Zaroury !!!
Was told yesterday that there were rumours last week that he was going to make the full Belgium squad for this World Cup. He missed out but must be a great chance of him breaking into the squad for the next Euros as Belgium are due a bit of a rebuild with a few players getting on now and they have still not won a trophy despite being no 1 in the world a number of times in last decade.
He looks such a good player. Technically brilliant with both feet and as said above seems to have a great temperament and a willingness to develop and learn.
There was a guy in the Lower Jimmy Mac near us yesterday who had travelled from Belgium to watch us for the first time. He had a Vincent Kompany Belgium scarf. He said he had really enjoyed the game and said he was coming back to see us when we are playing ‘for champions”. I asked him whether he meant Champions League !!!

Makes you wonder what else Vinny and his mates have up their sleeves for January and the summer.
Re: Zaroury !!!
I know a lot on here are worried about losing VK and some of our better players in the summer but I really believe that VK and the players will want to stay and give it a go in the Premier League WHEN we get promoted. I think that THB, Tella and Maatsen will also want to stay. Just hope we can convince their clubs to continue the loans or even sell them to us. When we have Twine, Churlinov and Westwood fit we will have one hell of a squad and the best in the Champioship. UTC

Gray said on talkSPORT he’s the best player to have played in the championship for the last 5 years.

No doubt more mobile than Sir Robbie.
Just some of his traits remind me of him. Loads of differences too though of course, and will play at a higher level.

Re: Zaroury !!!
Imagine if we were to win the cup game at OT and the likes of Zaroury , Benson and Cullen star. My feeling is they would be sought after by some big clubs. Harwood Bellis also.but he's not our player.

Re: Zaroury !!!
We're running out of superlatives. That cross yesterday was astonishing. It would be world class on his strong foot. To manipulate a ball like that with his supposedly weaker foot is eye watering.
But that talent has been apparent for a while now. What's really impressive is how he's developing the other stuff in the game. There was a case previously that he should attack the back post better and bust a gut to get into goalscoring positions. He's now doing that frequently and has the goals to show for it. There was one game recently where he was guilty of overplaying a bit. Since then he's cut that out and his decision making has been spot on. He works hard and seems a good kid.
I'm not sure who he reminds me of - if anyone modern, perhaps Eden Hazard, who has a similar build and willingness to go either way - but I do know that if he carries on like this hes going to be unbelievably good.

It was nice to see us actually cross the ball early for once, instead of playing backwards and across, passing the ball is great, but you can't beat a whipped in cross and a bullet header !claretspice wrote: ↑Mon Nov 14, 2022 8:53 pmWe're running out of superlatives. He may never get another chance for a World Cup, but then on the other hand, he could easily become a full member of Belgiums squad in the next 18 months in my opinion. I think he should hold off…
Re: Zaroury !!!
If you look at the top scorers in the championship last season:
1...Fulham...Aleksandar Mitrovic...43
2...Bournemouth...Dominic Solanke...29
3=...Blackburn Rovers...Ben Brereton...22
3=...Swansea City...Joël Piroe...22
3=...Bristol City...Andreas Weimann...22
6=...West Bromwich Albion...Karlan Grant...18
6=...Nottingham Forest...Brennan Johnson...18
8...Coventry City...Viktor Gyökeres...17
9=...Luton Town...Elijah Adebayo...16
9=...Preston North End...Emil Riis Jakobsen...16
How many have got a move to a bigger club?
Zaroury is proving that he's great at this level but he's only started 9 games! He needs to prove his quality over a longer period before anyone is going to come in with a stupid money bid.
Personally I hope he goes under the radar for a little longer and proves himself in the Premier League with us next season just like Trippier, Ings and others have done with us in the past.

If he has you cannot blame him, it’s potentially the only chance he’d have but I really do think he’s going to end up good enough to have played for Belgium!
Who knows though, it’s a personal matter in terms of what he regards himself as.

Re: Zaroury !!!
Burnley winger Anass Zaroury is set to receive a late call-up by Morocco to join their World Cup squad.
The North African country were dealt a major blow over the weekend as Marseille attacking midfielder Amine Harit suffered a very serious knee injury playing against Monaco, having already been named in the squad for the major tournament.
That has forced boss Walid Regragui to name a replacement and Foot Mercato have revealed that Zaroury is the man who will get the nod.
The 22-year-old has been a revelation for the Clarets this season, impressing down the flanks with his skill and ability on the ball, whilst he has chipped in with four league goals in 13 games to help Vincent Kompany’s side to top of the table.
This will actually be the first time that Zaroury has been called up to the Moroccan national team, as he has previously represented Belgian at various youth levels.
Therefore, the update states that the Belgian FA will have to validate the change of nationality before Zaroury’s call-up is announced.

Re: Zaroury !!!
Something of a shame for us as this mid season break was shaping up to be an ideal way to recuperate players who might otherwise run out of steam (given an unusually intense schedule compounds the usual challenges of adapting to a 46 game season and the pace of the English game). Zaroury was an obvious beneficiary of that.
But you can't stand in the way of a player's world cup ambitions and its richly deserved for a fabulous start to his Burnley career. Hopefully he comes back fit and firing for us ASAP- but it wouldn't be a surprise if we didn't see him till the Birmingham game at the earliest. He'll need a good break after the world cup.

With Belgium and Croatia in his group there is a good chance they will play 3 games with the last being 1st December then be leaving the competition. I am sure he can manage that work load.

Might not play much (given he’s a last minute call up) and if Morocco don’t make it through the group (Belgium and Croatia fancied) his last game involvement would be on the 1st Dec - we play at QPR on the 11th. I’d imagine he’d get a decent enough break?claretspice wrote: ↑Wed Nov 16, 2022 9:53 amSomething of a shame for us as this mid season break was shaping up to be an ideal way to recuperate players who might otherwise run out of steam (given an unusually intense schedule compounds the usual challenges of adapting to a 46 game season and the pace of the English game). Re: Zaroury !!!
Not just about games though is it - its about time to get over niggles and also about mentally refreshing. Zaroury has featured 14 times this season so far for us and 5 times for Charleroi and there's another 25 league games to go. For comparison last season he featured 33 times for Charleroi in total and before then he'd not featured much at all. That's a huge step up in workload before we factor in the world cup.
Depending on how his world cup goes we might see him before the Brum game, but my point is we might be best setting expectations a bit lower. He'll need to reset a bit mentally and recover physically if he's played much. It wouldn't be a surprise if he had a fortnight off after the world cup and then a week of training. That takes you to the Birmingham game.
But it really is richly deserved. He's been magnificent.

Re: Zaroury !!!
I very much thought Zaroury would be one for the future in view of his relatively limited experience in Belgium.
However both his form and impact gave surprised me. He is oozing confidence right now and playing on a cloud.
Will probably have a minor blip during the season, but what a player we have on our books!
Comparisons are difficult, but both Trossard and Hazard come to mind

I can’t really see why he would choose Morocco over Belgium, unless he is that proud of his African roots. He is still only twenty two and it would only be a matter of time before he was picked for the country of his birth.

He should play for Belgium. He'll definitely get selected the way he's developing.
Re: Zaroury !!!
Seems a shame he's picked Morocco as he could have been eyeing up the next Euros with Belgium, qualifiers won't be far away if he continued to do well for us.
