NED vs ARG
Re: NED vs ARG
Wout was on the pitch devastated after we were relegated, anyone pretending otherwise is just pushing this false fake bad apple narrative.
Say what you want about Wout but he gave it his all, ran his absolute ******** off for the side. Dycheball, in a team that no longer believed in Dyche and other factors meant we never quite saw the very best of him but this insistence on pretending he's a bad apple because he was angry at being subbed in a must win game is strange and sums up this forum.

Re: NED vs ARG
Yeah good point. Any other other clues about his bad Appleness? Apart from being annoyed about being subbed which is fairly standard behaviour. He was pretty pants for us towards the end but so was everyone really. He’s a better asset than Roberts in this league IMOSwizzlestick wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 12:11 amIt’s not a great leap to recognise that Wout has a greater emotional connection to his national team than Burnley FC. Hardly a surprise to be devastated to lose on pens in a WC. No idea where the ‘bad apple’ stuff comes from, other than Connor Roberts mouthing off, who’s hardly a straightforward personality himself.

An emotional guy with a big ego, but let's not rewrite recent history. He wasn't exactly doing cartwheels when we got relegated. Also, who can blame him for having 'that' release clause in his contract? He's just scored two goals from open play, and a pen too, in a World Cup quarter-final. Not many players, past and present, have that on their CV or stats.

17 yellow and a red.
Booking players on the bench.
referee had a nightmare.

I switched off at 2-0 thinking dull game over. Did I miss anything?
Re: NED vs ARG
I've never warmed to him in all these years of him being a ref, despite trying my best to get over his eccentricities. If you're going to be a larger than life character as a ref at the very top of the game, you need to back it up with near immaculate refereeing performances.

I'm still struggling to process everyone talking about a Burnley player and how bad he was for Burnley for about 10 minutes in a World Cup Quarter Final
Now you know you've made it when that happens!

I'm loving this little ol' Burnley player almost ruining the Greatest Player Of All Time™'s night narrative.
