Possibly. Once it had gone through Bellingham he had a clear view so I don't understand Dixon's point and he's repeated it several times.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 7:40 pmI think Pickford was out of position, simple as that.

I think id put grealish on in middle
Re: ENG v FRA
Our players are scared of being creative and taking on responsibility
Expect a dramatic change in the second half

Re: ENG v FRA
Just **** off ref, it's not a head injury
Re: ENG v FRA
Can’t complain much at that half. We’ve edged the game and they’ve scored a long distance strike. Good to see England making the World Champions camp in their own half. Mbappe has done f*** all.

Re: ENG v FRA
We are too slow and pedestrian in midfield with Henderson and Rice. Changes needed there at half time.

Re: ENG v FRA
Not what we hoped for 1st half and France deserve their lead, thankfully it's only 1-0 so we're still in the game, but a big half time team talk for Gareth to change the flow of this game.

Re: ENG v FRA
Agree , whilst Henderson has been better than rice, you probably would take him off for grealish and rice just concentrates on holding role, but he neeeds to up his gameVino blanco wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 7:50 pmWe are too slow and pedestrian in midfield with Henderson and Rice. Re: ENG v FRA
Rice has the ability to drive with the ball, the problem is if he vacates that space we're in huge trouble on the break.

Re: ENG v FRA
It was a foul in the build up to the France . It was a Penatly.
Just remember earlier in the WC when the keepers finger tips touched a player, that was a pen. Worst decision by VAR in history, but they set the bar.

Re: ENG v FRA
Oh and this ref is absolutely pathetic. Stopping the game when it’s not a head injury at the end there sums up his half.
Re: ENG v FRA
We need Grealish on to go at them. We can still win this.
Re: ENG v FRA
France deserve the lead? come off it they've done **** all, was a clear foul in the build up and it's a clear foul on Kane.
Re: ENG v FRA
How the balls do they deserve their lead? They’ve offered absolutely nothing.

Re: ENG v FRA
Saka having a shocker so far, gets the ball and freezes, like he is nervous. Had it a lot, so could have made a difference if he was more dynamic.
Foden suffered being told to hug the touchline. Once he roamed into that no 10 role he gave tempo and purpose to our attacks, always looking to shift it quickly. He is the key if we are to win. As is Kane, who looks right up for it.
Tough against 12 men though (13 if you count VAR) but we have had that a lot in recent decades.

Far too slow for me first half. I’d bring Rashford on.

Might be a top goal scorer ,but still think Kanes a diver,& how many times do we have the ball on the halfway line,& it’s either Maguire ,or Henderson, our 2 least creative players with the ball, not knowing what to do with it.

Could be just what England need being behind at half time, prevents Southgate from getting defensive.

Nah sorry that’s just typical Burnley fans goggles, I saw Pope concede many of them for usalwaysaclaret wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 7:55 pmPut nick pope in the nets, wouldn't have been beaten from there

That is a clear foul on Saka, 20 seconds later the ball is in the net

The game is crying out for Grealish .Otherwise it's the Mbappe v Messi hype
final that FIFA would want.

Showing far far too much respect to France.
England aren't taking them on and seeing what they're made of defensively wise. England need to be braver and at least force a foul out of them.

Re: ENG v FRA
This ref has been poor but to be fair, if you watch it back it is Bellingham, who made the challenge, telling the ref to stop the game.

Mbappe has been a bit quieter than usual but him along with Griezmann have been the best players on the park by far.

Wouldn't make a bit of difference to how we deal with Griezman, wouldn't alter our pedestrian approach to creativity.alwaysaclaret wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 7:55 pmPut nick pope in the nets, wouldn't have been beaten from there

Yes i was wondering that about foden , did he just decide todo it himself as he knows that’s where he’s best, against maybe southgates instruction.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 7:55 pmSaka having a shocker so far, gets the ball and freezes, like he is nervous. Agreed Saka looks like a rabbit in the headlights each time he gets the ball. Been defensively ok.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Sat Dec 10, 2022 7:55 pmSaka having a shocker so far, gets the ball and freezes, like he is nervous. Had it a lot, so could have made a difference if he was more dynamic.

The French know what they are doing, our creative players are closed down, the like of Henderson then clueless.

Of course we can complain.A foul leading up to their goal.
Pick ford should have saved it
We have a certain penalty turned down.

Or a free kick.

Re: ENG v FRA
Impossible to say who was better, France or England, as one was chasing and one holding since the goal.
Their defence though looks ropey as heck when we up the tempo. Just need to do it more. With Walker and Shaw under orders not to push up too much, Bellingham has to push up instead. Creativity needed.

Come on let’s be honest that first half was bloody awful
