Re: Match Day Thread v QPR
Just been thinking here we are at QPR on Sky so they have a QPR biased pundit team (OK they have Chris Aluminium in thr studio but still QPR heavy)... last game was Blackbum and the Pundit was Fatty Dunn so deffo a Blackbum heavy
Punditry team

Some absolute dross in the Championship. We've won that today at a complete stroll.

Re: Match Day Thread v QPR
Bit of luck with early decisions (but not as much as Sky would imply - too much emphasis on 'contact' IMO) but generally very pleasing against a decent side.
Only negative a couple of cheap bookings, and if we're not careful Cork will be suspended again before the new year.
But overall, really pleasing stuff.

Re: Match Day Thread v QPR
One of my triggers is this reliance on "contact". It can't be a penalty without it but just because someone touches an attacker, it doesn't necessitate a penalty if they go down. I can't stand it.claretspice wrote: ↑Sun Dec 11, 2022 2:56 pm..(but not as much as Sky would imply - too much emphasis on 'contact' IMO) but generally very pleasing against a decent side.

Re: Match Day Thread v QPR
Just a little bit too easy. The standard in this division really is quite poor and we should stroll into the Premier League.

Great show and a couple of real premier league finishes . With a fully fit squad we should really press in and get out of this surprisingly poor league .

Re: Match Day Thread v QPR
No. 10 bookings before a certain number of games (I think 30) is a 2 game ban, and i think 15 before something like 35 games is a further 3 game ban. Cork will definitely trigger the first threshold, and he might even get to the last one.

Re: Match Day Thread v QPR
No, you just can’t be suspended for five yellows now. But the next threshold is ten and Cork has already moved onto eight.

Re: Match Day Thread v QPR
I’m not too concerned about the bookings. We do get the odd silly one but generally breaking up play with ‘tactical’ fouls is just a part of the way we play.

Very diplomatic comments by Jack about the foul.
Re: Match Day Thread v QPR
Yes and last season with such a narrow squad we would have been more worried ... now there are greater numbers of quality players its not as big a problem, now we have returning players of quality coming back

Fully agree. I can’t get over how poor the championship really is.
QPR are one of the better sides and they were abysmal. We should win this league by 10-15 points. Sheff United are the only other remotely decent side.

Watford have to be watched. They have some genuine quality and Bilic knows the score. Probably will spend in Jan too.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 11, 2022 3:28 pmFully agree. I can’t get over how poor the championship really is.

Re: Match Day Thread v QPR
Indeed, they’ll have their eyes on the top two. But regardless of how well they will realistically do it would take a very poor run for us to lose 10 points to them.
