Re: ARG v FRA - 2022 World Cup Final
Great final and a fitting finish with Messi completing his career haul. Nice to see the sportswashing continued right to the end making him wear that negligé to lift the trophy. Some good football from what I've seen but this will always be a world cup that should never have taken place when and where it did. **** FIFA.
Re: ARG v FRA - 2022 World Cup Final
It sounds like the Saudis are serious about hosting it, and Infantino is very close with the Saudi prince.
I was too busy shouting at him that for the ridiculous suit and white trainers combo, especially a man of his age

He’s a twot no doubt but not as bad as the fat git with ponytail and the tight suit, where the feck did they dig him up from.

Tbh, the final was fantastic, atmosphere was great for Morocco v France, Moroccan fans were superb

No doubt the SAS are on standby in Chile and there's a Sub in the South Atlantic.
We know what an entire country of giddy Argies are like.
No, I didn't watch it.

For every ounce of Argentinian skill there's a pound of diving, niggling fouls and injury feigning (ditto Brasil).
The general BBC Messi wa*kfest is embarrassing and thank goodness he's not at a bukaki party because he'd be blinded for life with these pundits.
Was very watchable, mind.

Hardly a totally out there prediction considering he was already a superstar and Argentina captain.

Re: ARG v FRA - 2022 World Cup Final
The BBC have declared it to be the best final ever.
Strange because the one I watched was shite for 80 minutes.

Really? Thought it was excellent. Argentina played some beautiful football and scored 2 cracking goals. Died down a touch at one stage in the second half but I enjoyed the tactical battle between the managers, with Deschamps subs making a massive difference.

Yes but they didn’t have a Messi post Maradona for a number of years. They’re always up there as one of the favourites at the start of a tournament.

Re: ARG v FRA - 2022 World Cup Final
There’s millions of people predicting stuff on Twitter, some of them are bound to end up happening. And as others have said it was hardly the most outlandish prediction in the world.
Re: ARG v FRA - 2022 World Cup Final
I fell asleep in the second half, woken up by the commentators getting excited that France had a penalty. That said the final is usually a big disappointment so even just for the last 15 minutes and extra time it qualifies as the best final. I’ve heard some call it the best World Cup game ever and that’s well wide of the mark.

Re: ARG v FRA - 2022 World Cup Final
Expanding the number of countries taking part in the Finals to 48 will make it virtually impossible for the tournament ever to be hosted again by one country. It will almost certainly mean there being shared tournaments and bids. Thus talk of Saudi Arabia hosting the tournament alongside Egypt and Greece.

Re: ARG v FRA - 2022 World Cup Final
The best final ever? In many ways it probably was. But for me the best final ever was in 1966 - I watched it in the window of a TV shop in Frodsham because we couldn't get back home from Wales in time so dad parked the land Rover in a street that had a shop selling TVs. Many people didn't have televisions then, but that shop window was full of them and they were all switched on (in black and white, of course) Guess who won? Magic.

And Sir Geoff Hurst didn’t need 2 penalties to score a hat trick

The BBC pundits making this statement weren’t even born in 1966 or were even old enough to have watched it. Have they gone back and watched every final before making that claim?

Re: ARG v FRA - 2022 World Cup Final
Ally McCoist absolutely brilliant with his commentary on this
"First world cup final hatrick in which all three goals crossed the line"
Miles and miles and miles the best world cup final of my lifetime btw
Re: ARG v FRA - 2022 World Cup Final
Some shared bids make perfect sense, i.e Spain and Portugal.kentonclaret wrote: ↑Mon Dec 19, 2022 10:06 amExpanding the number of countries taking part in the Finals to 48 will make it virtually impossible for the tournament ever to be hosted again by one country. The Saudis hosting with Egypt and Greece seems a bit daft, but like Qatar the Saudis will throw enough brown envelopes at FIFA in order to make it happen.

Re: ARG v FRA - 2022 World Cup Final
I've watched a fair bit of the '66 final and it was well boring and sh*te. The football back then was so slow I reckon you must have been starved of decent stuff to do in your free time to get excited about that rubbish. It took me about 4 sittings to get through it and even then I dozed off a few times.kentonclaret wrote: ↑Mon Dec 19, 2022 10:25 amThe BBC pundits making this statement weren’t even born in 1966 or were even old enough to have watched it. Re: ARG v FRA - 2022 World Cup Final
So? He's picked one of the two possible World Cups that Argentina might win with Messi as captain from the time of that tweet. For all we know he might have posted the same tweet for the previous World Cup and just deleted it.
It's also hardly outlandish to say Messi would become the GOAT because he was already well on his way at that point. He's not even got his bloody age right.

You will never see England host and win a World Cup in your lifetime so thank heavens you won’t have to relive the experience all over again.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Mon Dec 19, 2022 1:13 pmI've watched a fair bit of the '66 final and it was well boring and sh*te. The most enjoyable thing during the final was seeing Macron with a face like a slapped ar*e.

Re: ARG v FRA - 2022 World Cup Final
Didn't watch it, however you have to feel for Mbappe nagging a HT in a World Cup Final yet still being on the losing side.
He's now got 12 World Cup goals to his name and has just turned 24, if he plays in another couple of tournaments he'll be smashing records galore.
