Nathan Tella
Just a question does anyone know if he was to be re called is there a date when he can re called from? Is it the start of the January transfer window?
Re: Nathan Tella
He is on a season long loan I understood, but could be recalled in January if required ... but there will be people who know more than that

This looks like a thread that will nectar to the wind up merchants. I’ll wait to get official word, rather than rely on anything appearing on this thread.

Re: Nathan Tella
I have a fear that Nathan Jones will come under so much pressure in the next 4-6 weeks that he will keep all his options open and recall him. After all BFC is now enjoying much attention and his goal tally for us combined to the quality of some of his finishing will have been very noticeable, particularly to the Saints fans
Will be bad news for us. When he has played it has taken the dependence off the ageing Rodriguez and to a lesser extent Barnes to perform. Sadly if he goes back to the Saints he may only get a minimum of game time competing with the likes of Redmond and Walcott, neither of whom appear to be regulars at present

I thought Soton fans would be keener than they appear on the idea, albeit a small sample size...

Re: Nathan Tella
Southampton are currently second bottom so Nathan Jones will undoubtedly be looking for more firepower up front. Whether he decides that NT will fit the requirements for the Premier League remains to be seen.
If they manage to stay up and we get promoted, they'll (probably correctly) see us as relegation rivals next season, so they won't want one of their players scoring goals for us and putting points on the board to finish above them.
So it might be better, if we want him full time, if we go up and they're relegated.

Re: Nathan Tella
Worst case scenario is that we lose Tella, sign another forward and have Zaroury, Twine and Churlinov back who can play similar roles. Having said that I'd rather he stay with us and sign permanently at the end of th season.

Re: Nathan Tella
the comments on the votes are interesting - more than the article itself. If we were in the PL and we had a young striker out scoring goals at a lower level then we would be saying "he's found his level." I hope that Southampton see it this way tooDuffer_ wrote: ↑Tue Dec 13, 2022 4:31 pmI thought Soton fans would be keener than they appear on the idea, albeit a small sample size...

Re: Nathan Tella
Hopefully Tella will have a say in this which would be great for us. Does he stay at a club pushing for promotion with a bright manager who values him. Or does he go back, play for a manager he does not know, or who does not know him, and be in a relegation fight and play minimum minutes.
Re: Nathan Tella
Just a thought on a poss Tella recall …
Would obvs love him to stay .
However …
I think Wel go up no matter whether he stays or goes back.
If he went back and Soton go down is there then a chance we get him at knock down price?
Silver lining. Just a thought.

I'm sure he would be gutted if he was recalled, he really seems to be enjoying himself here.

If he's off, let's be honest, we're a pretty attractive proposition for his replacement.

Tella is contracted to the saints until 2025.
Would it be cheeky to offer 5m in January?

Watching Southampton this season, they would be crazy not to call him back in January.
I sincerely hope they don’t.

Re: Nathan Tella
I’d be surprised if Southampton recall him. He’s been very good for us, but it’s a big ask to bring him back to help save them.
From a financial point of view he’s worth a lot more this summer if he continues to play well for us than if he goes back and struggles with them.

Re: Nathan Tella
Jones best hope of saving Southampton is to try and introduce the 'pragmatic' style that worked for him at Luton
Not sure Tella would suit that system. I'd be surprised if he is recalled

Re: Nathan Tella
Jones was quoted the other day saying he wants to add more experience to his squad (they are currently one of the youngest in the PL). Not sure recalling Tella helps with that.
Re: Nathan Tella
Tella must be loving it here. Probabaly much prefer it to playing in a relegation team!!!

Got to think Southampton want north of 10m for Tella
Re: Nathan Tella
I absolutely love Tella and I hope we sign him permanently.
His pace, control, pressing, and finishing are 100% worth having the in squad especially in the PL. Add in the fact he clearly loves his football here and it’s a no brainer for me.
I still can’t believe he’d not scored a goal before signing for us. He’s probably the best finisher at the club.

In my opinion, if Saints need someone to fire enough goals to keep them up they will need to buy a proven PL striker.

Jones is clearly up against it and I think he will want all options available to him - all hands to the pump. So, I think that unfortunately Tella will make the long journey south.

Re: Nathan Tella
Nathan Tella going back to Southampton isn’t going to save them.
It makes zero sense for him and it doesn’t really make much sense for them either.
However, new manager (who could well be potted himself when they realise they’re bang in trouble and not showing signs of recovery) and all that so he could well be recalled…..as much as it makes little sense.

Re: Nathan Tella
With Adams pretty much their only option up front and he only has four goals this season, Southampton would be a bit nuts not to recall Tella if they have the option.
The alternative for them is to spunk circa £20/25 million on another in form championship striker likes Goykeres the lad at Rovers or Akpom, who might not settle or even better Ndiaye at Sheffield United who looks way to good for them, although he might as well stay put.
