Muric 9 2 incredible saves in the first half, fast off his line twice in the 2nd to stop certain goals. He's absolutely improved, looks way more assured.

Roberts 7 stood up strong, got his head in where it hurts.
Beyer 8 very good apart from the backwards header where Muric bailed him out.
THB 8 solid
Maatsen 8 scrapped and fought for that win, clearly targeted but stood up well.
Cork 7 broke up play well
Cullen 8 same as Cork +1 for goal.
Benson 7 lively as always and had a hand in the goal.
Churlinov 5 thought he struggled but to be expected given he's barely kicked a ball for 6 months. Will come good I think.
Brownhill 5 worked hard but struggled with the ball.
Barnes 4 struggled to hold the ball.

Jay Rod 4
Zaroury 4 barely touched it, although the sub seemed to lift the team.
Taylor 6

Brownhill 6
Benson 7
Churlinov 6 - difficult game for him but tried hard
Barnes 6 - did what was needed against a rugby teams backs

That’s an impressive win tonight. Stoke are not a football team but we dug in and got a result. That’s a proper team performance and a promotion winning team.

Going with my head and not my heart. However that was a performance of real character (even if it lacked quality). But we’d have drawn that game earlier in the season.

Muric 8 one particularly bad pass aside I thought he was very good.
Roberts 7 (.5)
THB 7
Beyer 5 despite driving out with the ball well a few times, I thought his passing caused us lots of problems and that header back was god awful
Matsen 5 targeted by Stoke and he struggled and very nearly let Campbell in for a tap in.

Cork 7 poor first half but stood up second when we needed him to.
Cullen 7 see above and added the winner
Brownhill 5 worked hard but game passed him by a lot

Benson 7 our brightest and I my real spark
Churlinov 5 benefit of doubt as first game and some glimpses were positive. Also not all his fault as we just didn’t get any control or decent ball to him.
Barnes 6 Battered by them but stuck at it.

Jay 7 added that bit more guile and intelligence up top (and an assist)
Zaroury 6 like Darko we just couldn’t get the ball to him
Tella 6 (.5)

Stoke played really well first half but they're limited at best; alehouse brawlers at worst, and they couldn't keep that level of pressing up. Scrappy game and a scrappy goal to win it but this was the sort of match we'd have let in a soft late equaliser early in the season. Shows how much we've learned along the way and there will be a lot we've learned from this game in particular.

Muric 8 two good saves although one didn't count and he was alert on a couple of other occasions.

Roberts 7 stood up well along with the rest of the defence

Harwood-Bellis 7 as with Tuesday, dealt with the aerial stuff well enough

Bayer 7 love his change of pace bursting forward

Maatsen 6 exposed a bit by Churlinov's lack of game time but fine overall

Cork 7 dallied once or twice but overall remained composed throughout - his experience is essential to getting us through games like this

Cullen 7 that was some finish

Brownhill 6 good battling but how is he still allowed near free kicks?

Benson 6 could have chosen a better option in a couple of situations.

Churlinov 5 his lack of game time showed. Everyone else bar Twine is way ahead of him in terms of getting used to the league but he didn't shy away and made some intelligent runs.

Barnes 5 up top against giants he is never ever effective

Zaroury 6 not hugely involved going forward but gave us more spark on that side

Rodriguez 6 added a bit more guile dropping deep that Barnes couldn't manage

Tella 6 helped keep us higher up the pitch with his pace

Getting better and better is this team. Plenty to do yet but this should be a good first half of the 2023 to look forward to. Happy New Year!

I thought his distribution at Birmingham was faultless tonight less so strange how different people see it.

Muric 8 - vital contributions MoM
Roberts 7
Harwood-Bellis 7
Beyer 7 - couple of wobbles but brilliant defending against Delap
Maatsen 6 - a bit hairy
Cullen 8 - injection of tempo in the move leading to the goal, then being there to score = desire
Cork 8 - class
Benson 6
Brownhill 6
Churlinov 5
Barnes 5

Rodriguez 7
Zaroury 5
Tella 7

They tried to harass and outmuscle us, but we were too good in the end. Ref didn’t help, 21 fouls but few yellows. That left back got away with a few. We dug in, showed our desire, upped the tempo for a bit, and it worked. Really that is all that needs writing and it bodes well.

Muric 7 some good saves tonight still gives a heart attack with it as his feet though, I don’t think he will get away with some of his passes in the prem.

Roberts 7 decent enough
Maatsen 6 caught out a few times going forward
Beyer came out pretty well 7
THB ok 6

Brownhill 5 worst free kick taker I have ever seen, doesn’t even get them on target most of the time. First Dyche now VK , for the love of God change the taker , please!

Cullen 6 minus one for those clown boots😂

Cork 6 quiet one

Churlinov 5 off the pace due to lack of games

Benson 7 carried a threat and got fouled many times , no protection from the ref and it should have been a penalty or free kick in first half through on goal.

Barnes 5 not his night

Jay 7 gave us some control in midfield when he came in playing deeper thought he did well

Tella 5 mis step when through unlucky with that

Zaroury 6 kept quiet I thought

Good win scrappy as hell though

Beyer 5 despite driving out with the ball well a few times, I thought his passing caused us lots of problems and that header back

Please tell me your trolling?
He was arguably our best player today and he is infact leasing the "vote for your man of the match" on this very website.
He was excellent. I can't honestly believe people's opinions can differ that much when we are watching the same game.
Dodgy header back but other than that an 8 or 9/10.

Not trolling at all. Maybe I could have gone for a 6 but imo he was below par tonight. I’m a fan. But he turned inside to play passes most of the night which invited pressure and caused problems. Yes he broke out well (as I pointed) out a few times but I thought Stokes main pressure came down our left and we struggled at times. His header back was woeful and nearly cost us a goal if it hadn’t been for Muric, would he have still been your man of the match then?

Others can mark him as they see fit and if he wins mom fair enough, that’s why it’s a vote.

Muric 9 2 incredible saves in the first half, fast off his line twice in the 2nd to stop certain goals. He's absolutely improved, looks way more assured.
amazing how many folks haven't clocked his development in only 6 months, still plenty to do but he's vastly improved.

Muric 7
Roberts 7 - very good again, seems to be enjoying it now
THB 7
Beyer 8 - best on the ball, defended well
Maatsen 7
Cork 7
Cullen 7
Brownhill 6
Benson 7
Barnes 6
Churlinov 5 - rusty but he didn’t hide, wouldn’t write him off yet

Rodriguez 7 - thought his guile made a difference when he came on
Zaroury 6
Tella 7

Proper grind it out away win, although still playing our own way as ever. Stoke were very well drilled and up for it, we shouldn’t be too quick to denigrate that, it was us for years.

Special mention for our attitude though, we just won’t be intimidated at all, against bigger and aggressive opponents. Even the likes of Tella and Benson never stop putting themselves on the line. The classy and cultured Jack Cork winning an absolutely crunching 50/50 with 5 minutes left.. great to see.

Muric - 9 - other than the one dodgy pass in first half which didn’t make it to Maatsen, didn’t do much else wrong.
Roberts - 8 - not as effective as last time out, but he’s a nuisance, winds the opposition up and does his job well.
THB - 7 - solid, won plenty in the air.
Beyer - 6 - was good at his typical runs out of defence, but then not as effective with releasing the ball, and on another day that header results in a goal against.
Maatsen - 6 - didn’t have as much room to roam down the left, which in turn makes him less effective, in the games where VK doesn’t want him bombing up and down, I’d start CT.
Cork - 5 - by his standards, I think he was off it today, just that split second longer releasing the ball, giving away free kicks, did enough but we all know he’s better than that, looked tired start of second half.
Cullen - 8 - +1 for the goal, other than that, his usual busy self, covers every blade of grass every game.
Brownhill - 5 - too many games are passing him by at the minute, and his free kick taking hasn’t improved in 3 years so I’d give them to someone else, think he’s due a rest.
Benson - 8 - only bright spark in the first half, got at his man, on another day wins a pen, shame he didn’t have the support he usually gets but I’d argue stoke set up to defend against him.
Barnes - 6 - huffs and puffs but never blows the door down. Just save him for Blackburn away.
Churlinov - 4 - struggled to see how/where he fits in this team, maybe he was trying too hard, but first touch, change of pace, beating a man, staying onside, didn’t do any. Maybe being a bit too critical but the ball from Muric in the first 10 mins, straight over the top, Tella controls that and gets a shot off, Churlinov seemed to just let it skip on by.

J Rod - 7 - a bit more urgency up top with him on the pitch
Zaroury - 6 - first touch and run when he came on lifted the whole team it seemed
Tella - 7 - works had, hassles, wins fouls, must be a nightmare him coming on as a tiring defender
Taylor - 7 - solid, few important touches away

Muric - 8 - couple of really sharp saves and generally assured one dodgy pass aside.

Roberts - 8 - thought he was our best player on the night- defended solidly and used the ball well.

Maatsen - 6 - struggled a bit with Campbell but stuck at it.

THB - 7 - not his best night in possession but did the day job expertly.

Beyer - 6 - caught in possession a couple of times and one very shaky back-header, but did the rough tough stuff of defending really well.

Cork - 7 - did the basics really well even if it wasn't the smoothest night in possession.

Cullen - 7 - started the move for the goal and finished it. Generally steady enough.

Brownhill- 6 - did really well for the goal but otherwise a bit peripheral.

Benson- 6 - involved in the goal and a promising outlet down the right, without really creating much.

Churlinov - 5 - one very nice ball in but otherwise understandably struggled with the pace and physicality of the game.

Barnes - 6 - gave us a reasonable platform in the first half without taking the game by the scruff of the neck. Will be disappointed not to have scored with his back post header from Brownhill's corner.

Rodriguez- 7 - his subtler movements added an extra dimension to our game although that was in part a reflection of Stoke's fatigue.

Zaroury- 5 - one very neat touch just after coming on but in truth didn't add much to Churlinov's performance and unusually lacked composure under pressure.

Tricky assignment this. We rode our luck a little but the increasing maturity of the team was evident in the way we stood up to the physical test. I think we might have lost that game in September- but now we're touching them out and keeping the bandwagon rolling.

Muric- 7 Some early distribution errors but otherwise reasonable.
Roberts-7 Quiet game but solid in his defensive work.
Maatsen-5 Thought he was wrong side of attackers on several occasions, and a yard off the pace.
Beyer -7 A wobble or two but otherwise sound. He could have moved and re cycled the ball more quickly
THB- 8 Sound as usual always has an eye for the creative pass.
Cork - 6 a bit quiet but was harried and bullied by very aggressive Stoke tactics.
Cullen- 8 Good combative performance when it was needed.
Brownhill-6 Pretty anonymous for much of the game
Benson - 7 Stood up to some tough tackling and intimidation.
Barnes -6 Working with scraps
Churlinov -5 Never really in it.
J Rod. 7 Kept the ball well and brought others into play
Zaroury -4 did not get into the game
Tella .-7 Looked sharp when he could stay on his feet.
Taylor 7 Solid if short cameo, could perhaps have been given more time considering the way Maatsen was playing.

Taylor 6
Tella 4
Some interesting comments. I think this is Muric's least convincing period of the season he looked completely lost at times against Boro and had some flaps against Birmingham and again last night.

Maatsen 8? I thought Maatsen struggled not least because of Churlinov.

Jay Rod 4 ? - I think almost everyone could see that his ability to drop deep, link play and arrive late in the box made the difference and won us the game.

Zaroury 4? I thought he worked very hard up and down the left and Stoke created little once he came on the pitch.

Tella 4 while Taylor (on the pitch for all of 10 minutes) got a 6.

It's a game of opinions....!

Muric - 7* Couple of shaky moments and dodgy passes out but thought he was sharp off his line on several occasions and we really needed that last night…..and that’s the reason he got MoM for me.
Roberts -7 another good game
Maatsen -6 passing and decision making not great last night
Beyer -7 good game given the way that Stoke bombarded us with high balls.
THB - 6 defended well enough but few too many misplaced passes given the quality we are used to.
Cork -7 looked the best midfielder on the pitch again
Cullen - 7 one extra for the goal.
Brownhill -6 worked hard as usual but as with rest of team struggled to get a foothold in the game.
Benson -7 once again looked our most dangerous player even though it was not his best game. But he made the goal and again his contribution to us winning points has been immense. Without Benson in the last dozen or so games we would have significantly less points.
Barnes -5 got very little from their defence and thought we needed the pace of Tella or the guile of JayRod coming deep last night
Churlinov -5 couple of bright moments but overall he struggled. Possibly trying to hard which is understandable when you get a chance to start in a team with so much quality competition in your position.

J Rod -6 looked a better team as soon as he came on but we also need to bear in mind that this is when many teams start to tire against us. He cannot play 2 games every week so we need to just hang in there some games.
Zaroury -5 brilliant player as we all know but frustratingly wasteful last night. He’s only young so will learn but he was lucky that his sloppy play did not lead to an equaliser as that would have annoyed VK !!
Tella -5 nothing really went right for him whilst he was on the pitch but his pace and threat is a massive outlet when ever he is on the pitch.

Not really at the races last night. Stoke had a game plan to get in our faces and it partially worked because we were not our usual quality in passing and movement. But that said they had very little quality and with what we had on the pitch and the bench it was no real surprise that it was us who won the game. When you are man for man better than the opposition in every single area of the pitch then usually this comes through for you even when you have an off day.

THB really is Cahill 2.0 except we have a chance of keeping him.

I thought the 3 attacking subs didn't really get into the game, I don't recall Zaroury really touching the ball at all. Tella worked hard and won a couple of free kicks. Taylor's 6 probably just post match happiness at holding the clean sheet, Im happy to drop him to a 4 too.

Regarding Muric last night, I don't recall a single flap last night. Made 2 brilliant saves from corners. Quick off his line twice to stop certain goals 2nd half. Against Birmingham he punched 1 cross he probably should have caught, apart from that he was flawless.

Muric played an unbelievable 80yard ball to Churlinov in the first half - I think he took his eye off the ball but he was clean through.
