Weghorst to… Man United?

John Cofie?
Re: Weghorst to… Man United?
Interesting results so far and this is without encouraging any Clarets to vote

Re: Weghorst to… Man United?
Doesn't he suddenly become smaller when the ball is played in? Man Utd fans will be in for a shock as they are all over Twitter saying he will be great with the crosses coming in.
Re: Weghorst to… Man United?
Surely Besiktas can't ask for more than the actual loan fee as compensation? are there rules about that?

I love how they want 40/50% of the transfer fee if we sell Weghorst

Re: Weghorst to… Man United?
Surely there has to be some advantage in this deal for us - sorry if I have missed a key update on this btw as not had time to read fully.
We must be keen to sell to UTD because of either or a combination of the following;
- Man Utd have offered us more money than we would have got at the end of the season?
- Weghorst sale was only guaranteed if we didn't return to premier league.
- VK doesn't see him fitting the mould for our PL campaign if we were successful.
If we are putting in effort to offload him to UTD it would suggest that we are doing it to protect ourselves and because it is worth our effort/time.
Doesn't really matter to me what the reason is but let's hope it gets sorted one way or another.

Re: Weghorst to… Man United?
Besiktas have the whip hand here, they have already paid for 12 months, they can make Wout sit down until June if they want.
They will want the loan fee plus compo for losing their centre forward ie what if they missed out on champs league?
8 million has been mentioned. We will obviously ask Utd to pay that plus our loan fee. Itwouldnt surprise me if Besiktas get more than us.

The person who holds the cards is Wout. If he wants to go it will happen whether Besiktas like it or not.

They cant, but they can stop the deal.
They will want the loan fee plus compo. They will make more money than they paid out.
Wout obviously wants to go which plays into Besiktas hands, we have obviously agreed a deal with Utd so the only outstanding payment is to Besiktas.

Yes such as if you want him on loan for the remainder of the seaaon and it can be made to happen and where both Besiktas abd Burnley are financially recompensed, then you Man U have to buy him at the end of the season.agreenwood wrote: ↑Mon Jan 09, 2023 2:17 pmBecoming tedious is this.

Besiktas have released a statement

Statement From Our Club
After the match of our Football A Team against Kasımpaşa in the Super League, there was a need to make a statement due to speculative news in the media about our football player Wout Weghorst.
The claim that there is an exit clause in our football player's contract, stating that his contract can be terminated with a compensation of 2.5 million Euros in case of an offer from the Premier League, is fictitious. However, the news that the player in question will leave the team on Tuesday is completely untrue. The initiative regarding Wout Weghorst belongs entirely to Beşiktaş Gymnastics Club.
We also state that if there is a development on this issue, our esteemed community and the public will be informed.

Re: Weghorst to… Man United?
If he really was “their player” then we would have no involvement and Beskitas could deal directly with United.
The Turks are talking out of their arses.
They are trying to play hardball and if that means Wout is forced to stay their for the rest of the season and misses out on potentially the dream transfer of his career this will not end well for Beskitas.
Whilst all 3 clubs position themselves it will be interesting to see what happens the next time Beskitas are due to play and what Wout decides to do. I’d be surprised if he plays and risks injury if the deal is still alive.

Whilst I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment expressed, we may wish to deal with ManU and/or Besiktas in the future with regard to player loans, sales or purchases, so I don't think we'll want to antagonise either club.agreenwood wrote: ↑Mon Jan 09, 2023 2:17 pmBecoming tedious is this.

FWIW I think a way through this can be found and Wout will get his desired move to Old Trafford.
Re: Weghorst to… Man United?
Wout thinks Wout is a top six player. I agree. He should, and is doing everything he can to agitate for this move.

According to some reports so has the stuff out of his locker. He has supposedly emptied it so he obviously thinks he is not going back.

Perhaps the way through is for Wout to buy himself out of loan deal if he’s that keen?

Re: Weghorst to… Man United?
Another factor is we won’t want our own players or potential players to see that we stand in the way of such a move.
Besiktas will get a few million. We may get a bit or nowt - but we won’t be worse off, apart from how the move may affect a sale in 6 months. I’m sure Vinny won’t want him, for a variety of reasons, mainly pace, so we won’t stand in the way of the move. All speculation on my part.

Surely that is if we agree. They can release him, but they can't loan him to utd. I'd kibosh the whole deal rather than let Besiktas get away with that. Re: Weghorst to… Man United?
Technically Wout is a Besiktas player. I think they have made it clear that he is contracted to them until the end of the season and there is no recall clause. So if Besiktas don’t agree to release him effectively he remains their player until the deal runs out.

If that's the case they can decide to keep him and then he returns to us at the end of the season or they can opt to buy him. But they can't sell him to Man U or anyone else.ClaretLoup wrote: ↑Mon Jan 09, 2023 4:50 pmTechnically Wout is a Besiktas player. I can understand them not wanting to lose him as he is doing well for them, but I can't understand what they think he is going to be like if they refuse to let him move. It looks like he was saying bye to the fans and has supposedly emptied his locker, so he doesn't want to be there. He comes across as a bit of a sulker if he doesn't get his own way so they could be left with a player who doesn't want to play.

There is a food chain in football and Manchester United are further up it than Besiktas, yes technically Wout is 'theirs' until the end of the season but the guy will obviously want to go and play for United, put your curly swords away and let the lad have his big chance.

I read something earlier from a reporter suggesting Besiktas (who can hold Wout and United over a barrel) will be paid a few million Euro to release him. We’ll see if this is right but I expect the Turks to get more than us because it is to cover a period of time they hold his contract, and to be fair, he is leaving them in the lurch, as he did with us (albeit we had agreed it beforehand with him).arise_sir_charge wrote: ↑Mon Jan 09, 2023 4:39 pmWhy would Besiktas end up with a few million and us nowt?

Re: Weghorst to… Man United?
My opinion on this largely depends on what the deal was originally. When it was reported, I understood that Besiktas had paid us £2.5m to cover his salary. Effectively we just wanted his salary off the books but couldn’t find a club wanting to pay the fee. If they’ve paid that fee and been paying his wages, that’s different.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Mon Jan 09, 2023 7:53 pmI read something earlier from a reporter suggesting Besiktas (who can hold Wout and United over a barrel) will be paid a few million Euro to release him. Either way, I’ve praised Pace to the hilt on the restructure of this squad and recruitment but feel it negligent to have no means to recall. Especially when our loans seem to have them.
Let’s hope this doesn’t distract us from any incomings we’re working on.

Compo for his release will be a matter between ManU and the Turks.

He's on loan to Beksitas for the season in a deal we were happy with.
Can't we just leave it there?
