Just picked up this sad news myself too from various music contacts- what a sickener.

Terrific player with a unique style and a very long, successful and innovative career.
R.I.P. Jeff Beck, thanks for the musical pleasure you gave us.

RIP Jeff Beck ... the sound track of my youth has quite a lot of his work in it (from the Yardbirds etc and his solo work ...)

There’s going to be so many losses like this. All the musicians we grew up with.

Just about to post that very sad news.

I was fortunate to see him at the O2 Apollo in June
last year. Another great leaves us, but with a fantastic legacy.

RIP Jeff, and thanks for the memories.

Take a listen to this fantastic piece of music from Jeff, live at Ronnie Scotts.

A day In The Life. Amazing talent. Love it.

With my favourite drummer too - things don't get much better.

The Yardbirds are one of my top five bands, that they improved when he replaced Eric Clapton speaks for itself.

RIP Jeff Beck
Thanks and God Bless.

RIP Jeff, one of my all time favourites Hi Ho Silver Lining.
Saw him live at Bradford University circa 1974.
When he played Hi Ho, it was so loud our pints vibrated off the window sill.
Fantastic show it was.
A legend

A sad end out of the blue.

Who hasn't been in a dance or disco and had their hands in the air to Hi Ho Silver Lining?

That is enough on its own.

I'll be happy if I never hear Hi Ho Silver Lining again, and yes I know there's much more to him than that one song, especially the Yardbirds stuff. Sad news though. He was touring last year and had dates lined up for 2023.

RIP Jeff Beck - as someone mentions above the Ronnie Scott's gig demonstrates his talent on the guitar.

Very sad as Jeff was very active touring etc . Seems he contracted meningitis. Such a talented lead guitarist you could have stuck him in any band any genre any period and he’d be on it . Looked fantastic for 78 too .

I agree with you, and his solo albums are brilliant.
Hi Ho Silver Lining should definitely NOT be the song that defines JB, he has a catalogue of amazing masterpieces that many a guitarist struggles to emulate.

Nobody like Jeff Beck.

Started with the classic Brit Blues background (Clapton, Page, Blackmore etc) but soon moved away from that to create his own truly unique style.

One of the very few people in the world I would class as a true guitar genius.

One of a kind, there is no guitarist with his versatility and tone / whammy bar control. A genuine unique one of a kind that mastered rock jazz blues , you name it beck could play it and make it sound better than anyone else.

Just some of his versatility, for the uninitiated

As bb king once said , the guitar that Jeff’s plays has notes that are missing on every other guitar,
