Very highly regarded player by the fans of his current club, from my investigation of their forum the other week. Perfect profile for us. I haven’t seen him play obviously, but the clips on YouTube show him to be very comfortable on the ball and seemingly pretty fast.

‘What's really impressive with him, it's his maturity. He has also an ability to quickness and acceleration in the 3 first meters who's really impressive too.’

With him being told he can leave, I think its safe to say that this will go through, and at a much lower price than they wanted in the summerRVclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 12:42 pmhttps://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/foo ... s-25957971

Re: January transfer window rumours.
They wanted 12m in the summer, I think they'll want around 6m now, our latest bid was a cheeky 2.5m, the deal will probably go through at 4.5mRVclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 12:42 pmhttps://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/foo ... s-25957971

If we just get Aldakhil and Obefaml it will be a good window providing we hang to what we have.

No way he’ll get thrown straight in
Re: January transfer window rumours.
I think he will need to be registered by noon tomorrow to be included but would you play him straight away or rely on either McNally or Taylor?
The latter for me.

Stoke are still onto BT to try and fix their faulty phone connection, they had expected at least 5 calls from Burnley in the past year or so....

Obafemi Likely get done at 4mil
Re: January transfer window rumours.
No need to throw anyone straight in.
Beyer and Chas on Saturday I would guess.
McNally grew into the role, maybe he just needs minutes.
A massive blow if THB is out for a long period, but we have cover, and might have even more imminently.
If our defence starts to concede then we will just outscore the opposition.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
To be fair, if other clubs are saying we are “buying the league” and we then proceed to spend near £10m on two big gaps (one due to a very recent injury) then you can see what they moan about.
Feels a bit like the shoe is on the other foot for us, we’ve moaned enough about parachutes in the past.

Not sure we are buying the league.
We have still bought in a hell of a lot more than we have spent and our wage bill has gone down massively.
Compare that to Sheff United, Watford and even the likes of Norwich.

Stories appearing we have another defender coming in on a free in the summer. He has allegedly signed a pre-contract agreement. His name is Moufi and he is a Moroccan player.
Re: January transfer window rumours.
Norwich and Watford’s wage bill will be circa 65m. Ours is circa 30m.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 2:02 pmTo be fair, if other clubs are saying we are “buying the league” and we then proceed to spend near £10m on two big gaps (one due to a very recent injury) then you can see what they moan about.

We also brought in 75m of player sales.

Not our fault if other clubs can't spend their money wisely is it, and given we've got a lot of high earners off the books our wage bill might not even be the highest in the Championship.
I've not seen us moaning about parachutes.
Re: January transfer window rumours.
How can you buy the league with a net gain of player transfers? Buying the league is when a sugar daddy comes in and bankrolls a club to spend mega millions like it's nothing.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
I thought it very sensible of Kompany in the press conference just now when pressed on Al-Dakhil and Obafemi.
He simply said "We can only sign players who are willing to be a part of this club in either the Championship or the Premier League and can do a job for us in either, that makes the market we shop in small".
We are not up yet, whatever anyone says, and this is a good way of approaching business this window. We're acting like a very level-headed club here.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Yes - like Wolves when Jorge Mendes got involved and they signed the likes of Ruben Neves and Diogo Jota in this league.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
I have to admit, though I have some sympathy with the argument that we started off with a very good squad for this level because we had been in the premier league for six years, the fact that we then sold it, rebuilt it at less than a third of the price and chopped the wage bill to at least half (if not less) and still look far too good for everyone suggests we deserve more credit than "well, they have just bought the league"

I've watched Portimenese play a couple of times, though well before this lad would've been there - it's a grim place to watch football if you go on a (thankfully rare) wet'n'windy day in Portimao.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Well put LC, I sometimes think even among our own fanbase Bellamy, Kompany, and all the rest of our backroom staff aren't given the credit they deserve for engineering such a rapid turnaround in our fortunes, while also having to practically build a whole new squad from scratch.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 2:23 pmI have to admit, though I have some sympathy with the argument that we started off with a very good squad for this level because we had been in the premier league for six years, the fact that we then sold it, rebuilt it at less than a third of the price and chopped the wage bill to at least half (if not less) and still look far too good for everyone suggests we deserve more credit than "well, they have just bought the league"
Our net spend at a guess will be among the lowest in the league due to the revenues we've raised in players sales, hardly comparable to simply buying the league, and if it was so easy for relegated sides in receipt of Parachute Payments to stroll back to the PL at the 1st time of asking then all the relegated Prem clubs would do so, however although many do achieve this feat many equally go in the other direction.

The Moroccan player we have allegedly got a pre-contract agreement in place for the summer from Portugal is also a right back.
I can't see the Murillo thing being true - the source appears to be a Panamanian journalist giving an opinion based on Kompany previously managing him as opposed to anything substantive.

Honestly thought we'd be lower mid-table at the start of the season when we'd signed a load of farmers on the cheap and all the 'stars' had left. It's got to the point now, I don't even question us spending £4m on some Iraqi kid nobody has ever heard of.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 2:23 pmI have to admit, though I have some sympathy with the argument that we started off with a very good squad for this level because we had been in the premier league for six years, the fact that we then sold it, rebuilt it at less than a third of the price and chopped the wage bill to at least half (if not less) and still look far too good for everyone suggests we deserve more credit than "well, they have just bought the league"

Re: January transfer window rumours.
Vitinho whether we think so or not believes his best position to be left wing back, so maybe in time that's where Vincent Kompany sees him. At the moment we have Charlie Taylor and Maatsen who can play on the left. Come summer both of them may not be here so Vitinho may slip back into his favoured position as one of the two we would need there
