As well as the price of beer, my biggest gripe is that you never get a pint. None of the uk glasses these days have a line on them for a pint, they are only a pint brimmed. I reckon you are only getting 90% of a pint at best maybe only 85% with some of the wider rimmed glasses. Yes, I do like a nice creamy head on my pint, but that does not officially count towards the pint unless it's stout I believe. Simple answer is bigger, lined glasses like they have in Europe (like we used to years ago). It will also stop so much being wasted trying to 'fill' the short glasses. Real pet hate of mine. My wife always gives me evils when I asked to be topped up especially in 'smarter' establishments. Need a national campaign!

As a brewery we currently sell a 72 pint cask of 3.6% Pale Ale for around £85 plus VAT, which used to give us about £20 profit. So your pubs are buying for roughly £1.42 per pint. This obviously varies on type of beer, strength etc. as this might mean more duty is paid. Any bar charging you £6 is therefore marking up the price by well over 400%.

On the other hand, any pub selling for 99p must be buying the beer very cheap or losing money on it, so you have to ask why.

In summary, go to good old honest brewery taprooms while there still are some!

The brewery taprooms near me are also charging £6 a pint!

I bought 1 and a half litres of Tiger beer in central Saigon 2 nights ago. Was 16 dollars or around 13 quid.

I know folk that drink in the big window before the match because it’s cheap, they’re only having 3-4 beers before a game and are probably saving £4 a session over a decent pint to drink absolute pish

Yep - I go in sometimes to meet people before a game. There is no real decent ale houses that serve what I like in Burnley (outside The Bridge - which is still limited in their IPA selections).

I can drink 4 pints before a games for less than £10. It is what it is at the end of the day, its about the pre match banter/discussion more than the beer.

I actually don't mind it in that scenario.

I tried to convert them to the Bridge but it is always rammed and there is no where to sit, or stand hardly which isn't good for one of the group I meet so not really an option now unfortunately.

Outside of home games though, I will always try and find the bars with the best quality IPAs that I can though and will happily pay a premium/more to do so as I enjoy trying different ones.

I don't blame you at all, at a time when there's God knows how many winter bugs circulating about the last place you want to be is in a stuffy pub shunted about like sardines in a tin. There's a time & a place & sometimes you can't beat a quiet spot where you can sit down & have a chat & get served promptly & save a bob or 2 in the process.

I also know a big group who go in before the game, they aren't going in to save a few quid. On match day it isn't a bad football pub, during the week....
