I’m going to stick up for Newcastle here. I don’t always agree with him but I think he’s made a perfectly valid point/observation about Gyorkes and his value.
The only real validity in the point is if you do not believe Gyorkes is worth £15m in terms of his ability. Everybody is entitled to an opinion on a player. I doubt many Burnley fans would think Wood was worth £25m.
But the ‘peak value’ part of his argument makes no sense when there are so many other examples. Many people said the price of players in the PL could not be sustained yet every year it keeps going up so to say £15m for a young player is their peak value even if they go on to score 12-13 a season is their peak value does not make any sense.
If you look at the goal scoring stats on the PL take away the top 6 teams and their strikers and you will see many who do not get this amount of goals consistently. Wilson, Watkins and many others struggle to get that yet the likes of Newcastle (before their Saudi billions) are happy to pay £30m for Wilson who had a record not dissimilar to Wood.

The point is you’re solely reliant on a striker achieving a 1-3 record in the prem to make profit.
There’s nothing to suggest Gykores will do that. He’s only just managing at championship level.

Do we really need 2 pages of whether or not the Coventry striker is worth 20m or if we are going to be in for him or not and our strategy? I thought this was about actual transfer news/rumours? Almost as bad as a few pages back when people started debating clocks.

People fail to remember that our system under Dyche was set up for our strikers to score - in VKs system, the striker is as much involved in link up play than he is an out and out goal scorer.
Gyokeres is more than just a goal scorer, his link up play and movement is exceptional - very hard to mark and pickup.

Not just ball carrying but also with pace and strength in the tackle
Cullen and Cork are doing a great job in the Championship but will get caught out in the Premiership due to a lack of pace, height and strength
No place for loyalty at the top table - which was the biggest mistake of Dyche as a good example
Why I started a thread on Yokuslu after Fridays match. He was excellent and plays CB also. He won’t leave them if they go up though. If they don’t they are desperate for cash.

Andy Jones has confirmed Foster is almost done pending medical. He was on the money last week with the ‘unnamed no. 1 striker target’ in the end.

I think this signing is gaining new us fans in South Africa. They are all over the clubs social media pages. It could prove to be a very good signing for this reason also if it expands our fan base

Yes you are right. Our appeal is growing all the time. On Friday my friends and I had the pleasure of meeting some Icelandic Clarets who had come over from Iceland to watch JBG. Sadly he wasn't involved. The lads were very complimentary of us, and shows that we are growing the brand internationally. Which is great to see.

I was lucky enough to be in the hospitality for the Blackburn game in the Bob Lord Stand. There was a table of lads in there from Norway I think, or Denmark, can't really remember, but what a day they had.
They were all leathered, loved the atmosphere and the banter and were such great lads..

Good player. Said on here a couple of years ago he'd have been an excellent signing for us back then.

I think we gain some for the reveals. I saw on Twitter a Spurs fan who said, 'following Burnley just for the transfer window'.

Anymore news about signing the Bosnian midfielder Amir Hadziahmetovic?
If the YouTube clips aren’t hiding a pile of weaknesses in his game, he looks to be a quality player - just what we need.

Turkish media reporting that Hadžiahmetović would prefer to stay in Turkey for geographical & religious reasons.
You never know with Turkish journos. They do seem to like to report on preferences in transfer sagas, particularly if other Turkish clubs are interested.

That would be a shame as he looks a talent. Fair enough if he does though, better to find out now than to buy him & he be unhappy here.
Can’t win them all.

Yep posted this morning prior to the two pages of bickering.
It's Blackpool, Hull and Sheffield Wednesday apparently.

If “Bafana Foster” signs that’ll be our last two signings honed through the USA college system….. referring to a post I made a couple of weeks ago, we really should be tapping the system

With large mosque in Burnley near Asda and a well established Muslim population I would have thought that the spiritual needs of players following Islam would be well catered for.

That was always the plan with Carolina Railhawks wasn’t it? I think that partnership consisted of a press release and a pre season friendly before it fizzled out!!
I’d much prefer us to be making links with US colleges than the likes of Ayr and Llandudno.

Not sure what this means for his long term future, the signings of Ameen Al Dakhil and Hjalmar Ekdal suggest it may lie elsewhere.
He is a late developer and needs games, plenty of them and at a level higher than he came from.

It wasn’t even as much at the level of Carolina Railhawks, more at the level of the guy who owns a local indoor soccer business

the only thing I can think is he isn't good enough on the ball because everything else was on display at Bournemouth, won everything in the air, last ditch tackles etc, I've not given up on him yet

I actually read something linking McNally with a loan to Standard Liege due to Kompany’s preference to getting him playing similarly to ourselves. Cannot remember where I read it, but stands to reason really. No mention of them since though.

Or are we spending a couple of million?

He's 27
Past his best and would be worthless in a couple of years
Am I doing this right?
I read this and was unsure what it meant, I have now skim read the weekend updates.
He could be an MP. it is the only job out there where even when you are wrong and stupidly wrong you continue to defend your stance

It’s really not rocket science.
If under 25 they might spend a lot as it’s likely they can make a profit. If 25 and over the likely won’t spend a lot as less chance of making profit.
Hope that clarifies it.
