One of the most comfortable big 'derby ' games we've had since .......well, the last one!
Being a Claret is bloody marvelous these days.

Looks way off it, both at Stoke and now Preston - shows the difference between U21s & first team football

My favourite overall performance of the season I think.
Complete and utter dominance. Scoreline flatters them.

Re: Clarets v PNE match thread
Easy as the score line suggests, PNE barely threatened and we could have bagged more than 3.

Just a great position to be in but I’m really hoping Bayer becomes permanent, I think he’ll be a real asset in the EPL. As much as I like Tella & Maarten if we can only have one then for me BayerPaul Waine wrote: ↑Sat Feb 11, 2023 4:49 pmI'm wondering when we will see Al Dakhil and Ekdal together. Both look good alongside Beyer. Sometime Taylor Harwood-Bellis will be fit again. The latter two, of course, are loanees - at least through the end of this season.

Re: Clarets v PNE match thread
Delap is a thug. He tried it on when he played for Stoke, and got booked, and got booked again for the tackle from behind on Beyer. Absolute thuggery/ frustration, it was moments after Tella got his hat trick. No wonder VK didn’t go anywhere near him in the summer, oh and by the way- he’s sh**e.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Feb 11, 2023 4:49 pmHe didn’t look up to much when he played for Stoke against us.

Re: Clarets v PNE match thread
2 big plusses for me today
1. Made a potential banana skin look as comfortable as any game this season
2. All done without Benson, Churlinov, JRod, Vitinho, THB, Bastien, Dervişoğlu, Al-Dakhil
If we need to, we can dig so much deeper. It's a luxury cruise at the moment. Although I'm fully expecting Tuesday to be a proper test

Re: Clarets v PNE match thread
Agree, great position to be in. I like Jordan Beyer. I also think he is the most likely of all the summer loan signings to join the club permanently. I'd also place Ian Maatsen in a more likely than less likely probability - but that's because Chelsea have signed so many high quality and expensive players. I expect Burnley will be competing with other clubs to sign Nathan Tella if Southampton go down - which they look strong candidates for that fate.
I'd like to see the two new centre halves playing together to strength the club's options at the back. Taylor Harwood-Bellis was suddenly injured. The same could happen with Jordan Beyer. It would also be interesting to see formation flexibilities at the back - not that the team is short of flexibility in so many ways.

One because my dad said Everton were too rough
One playing cricket
Two on a school holiday
One broke down on way to the game
How I’m feeling just now it could be eleven by Tuesday.

If you aren't feeling well then going on the turf should be the least of your worries, your health is much more important than footy, even for someone as devoted as yourself CT.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Feb 12, 2023 11:46 amFive through illness

At least now with modern technology it's much easier to keep up to date than having to rely on Radio Lancs for goal flashes.

Re: Clarets v PNE match thread
We couldn't have scripted yesterday better if we'd tried.
Evans their main goal threat gets suspended.
We score early.
Then proceed to control the rest of the 1st half.
Strike early twice in the 2nd half to kill the game.
Rest some key personnel ahead of Tuesday.
Give useful minutes to some players.
Although we are clearly a much better side than PNE derbies can sometimes level the playing field, not so yesterday where we trounced them and if we'd wanted we could probably have scored another 2 or 3, however no need to exert ourselves with a tough test awaiting when Watford visit.

Re: Clarets v PNE match thread
Tella had a simple 4th but tried to play in Foster. So it really should have been at least 4-0.

When I'm at the match, I'm always wondering what SSN and Stelling are saying about us. Unless it's Sherwood, then who gives a ****.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Feb 12, 2023 1:03 pmJust had Jeff Stelling & the message board yesterday but I’ve got the game live on Tuesday.
So out of interest, what was Saturday's view of the Clarets from the studio?

Hardly mentioned us. In fact when our second goal came up on the vidi printer, they went off for reports from the Bolton and Ipswich games before even commenting on it.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 12, 2023 5:06 pmWhen I'm at the match, I'm always wondering what SSN and Stelling are saying about us. We are setting records, and getting dissed for it.....
The conundrum of wanting to play under the radar, and shout about us from the rooftops.

I don’t think you’ll need to wait too long before you will get more coverage than you can shake a stick at. They’re trying not to be seen as playing favourites.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 12, 2023 6:14 pmIt shouldn't irk me, but it does.

Joke of a decision to book Beyer, after a shove, when he’d been assaulted.

They had someone at the ground but no idea who it was. They went over after about five mins and then after the first goal. They had just one visit to us in the second half to ask about the second goal by which time we’d scored our third.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 12, 2023 5:06 pmWhen I'm at the match, I'm always wondering what SSN and Stelling are saying about us. Maybe to the outside world we are getting boring, just winning all the time can't be interesting enough.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Feb 12, 2023 7:54 pmThey had someone at the ground but no idea who it was. Apart from his outburst, I thought Preston were quite restrained. I'm not sure I could have helped but lash out if I was getting a schooling like they got. I was waiting for the Kevin Ball type challenge to come, thankfully Delap was as bad is got.Claretitus wrote: ↑Sat Feb 11, 2023 6:58 pmDelap is a thug.
