2 years into his tenure I think it’s fair to say he’s made many more good decisions than bad and had the unenviable task of trying to fix the damage Mike Garlick caused in the last couple of years of his tenure.

I’m still of the opinion though that clubs should not be allowed a takeover in the way Garlick and Pace engineered ours. It’s such high risk and it puts the whole club future in jeopardy if it all goes wrong. The hiring of Kompany and the investment in the team has been absolutely phenomenal, but it’s still worth thinking about where we might had we not pulled that off.

I’ll finish by saying though that Pace clearly knows what he’s doing I do believe he genuinely wants the best for the club. Full credit to him for that.

There was/is still a degree op scepticism about the deal, but Garlick is as much to blame as ALK.
But at least he seems well on his way to proving the doubters wrong.

It starts from the top. While it's brilliant what VK has done, it was Pace who got him here. Now if Pace sticks around a while and Kompany moves on in 2-3 seasons we can be confident of replacing him with someone who can carry the journey on.

Assuming whatever refinancing has gone on has not increased debt, £32m debt when we have a ~£130m income next year (assuming promotion, of course) is nothing to worry about at all. Especially given we no doubt have £50m minimum saleable assets (a LOT more if they perform in the PL), a hugely restructured salary base & the prospect of new investment.

If we get promoted we really do need to stop worrying/talking about it.

Even with debt, we’ll be a younger, more exciting side with plenty of saleable assets to allow us to develop younger talent while remaining a viable business in the top divisions. We lost sight of that need under the previous regime.

I remember the rumours, but I'm aware of how investment from Chinese companies/people has been scaled back.

I don’t know anything to date, but I’m sure that the investment, when it comes will be American and British.

I suspect anything out of China is not really in the plan at the moment, perhaps with the exception of ‘weather’ bloons. Never mind the mess Chinese investment has already caused at so many clubs. It is a very different world than it was when that was mooted. Tbh I was surprised even then, as things were already cooling rapidly and thought Pace et al. Would have already been shy to such a deal.

I think one thing is becoming increasingly clear is that there is a long term plan. I think there is a lot made public only when all the pieces are in place. January was always going to be a strange one; VK will have players in mind that can step up, but some will not be available until summer, others will be added as some drop out of the reckoning.

I thought the business in January was impressive, as I’ve found Pace’s attitude to: football first, fettling second. The Club Shop Online may be frustrating but I suspect when it gets its ‘turn’ it will return state of the art. I’m increasingly impressed with Alan Pace, starting to really like the chap.

Technically yes it's in a worse place because we got relegated.
That was going to happen at some point even if Garlick had stayed in place, because it happens to a lot of PL clubs.

So far he's overseen a complete overhaul of the squad after making a very astute appointment in Kompany as manager

The transfer policy has the potential to be far superior to what it was under the previous owners.
The social media side has taken off, vastly superior, and is attracting masses of positive attention, which in turn is changing people's views of the club.
Academy - appears to be working hard at getting it back to cat 1.

He had a rough start but him and the team are doing a good job thus far at moving the club forwards.

I know you like to be unhappy about the club, but you've got to be really trying right now to be unhappy with what Pace etc are doing.

The Prem is a crowded market place for global support.
In reality we are never going to grow into a bigger club. People might have 'bit' more interest in us if we stay up, but unlikely to be any more than the majority of clubs as they all have bigger fan bases than us.
