😂😂 pretty sure the last thing the Met need are Millwall in the Prem.
They have one of the worst away attendances in the league, I think they’ll be ok.

They have to play us.....and revenge will be so sweet
That is the one game I'm really looking forward to. Possibly, that's possibly, more than Blackburn away.

Always had a soft spot for Sheff Wednesday. Got to know a Wednesday supporter recently and a nicer man you'd struggle to meet. Sheff utd have too much of a connection with Warnock .

With a takeover pending I can see the Blades being less of an investment threat next season than Boro, so I hope they go up along with Luton - that would be the bottom two sorted.

Having to play them both on the same extended weekend will be a fun few days - especially as we are likely to face no jeopardy if it goes against us.

You can see Sheff being less of an investment threat than Boro? How come? I think Boro’s squad is way off the PL and they’d struggle more than Sheff. Although they’ve perhaps got the better manager in Carrick. Agree on Luton.

Sheff Utd have a whole host of players who have been out for a long period. How they have kept pace is a tribute to them. They haven’t been at full strength for some considerable time, I would expect them to be much stronger when those players return. When that may be I don’t know, but they have enough fight in them to make a fist of things next season if they go up.

I think it better for us for Boro and Luton or Millwall to come up as they’d certainly get relegated, in my opinion. Nothing against the Blades and it’s an easy game for me to get to, but I really hate going to Bramall Lane too. We always lose, well, nearly almost.

Sheffield United’s finances are in a real mess if they don’t go up so you could see N’Diaye and Berge definitely being hawked on the market - I’d take either if they were in our reach!

Crazy how quickly it’s changed though, this looked a done deal three weeks ago. I have to say if I had to place a bet I think I’d back Boro on account of the fixtures that are coming up for the Blades.

They've definitely been at full strength lately. Since the World Cup break they recovered most, if not all.

You need a manager at the helm with a calm head, who can keep the players calm.
Heckingbottom sounds more and more like he's losing it. Sheff U just don't do pressure. It's cost them before, and it could well cost them again. Boro have nothing to lose. The real test will come if Boro do go above them, and then the pressure will all be on Boro.
So glad we aren't in it, but even if we were, VK and this squad could handle it better than anyone.

On the championship highlight show I'm sure it showed Heckingbottom on the touchline even though he got a red card during the week

Reading some of the comments on their forum, there seems to be quite a bit of criticism of Berge. Way off being the player he was.

All sides suffer injuries it's how you cope with it that matters.

Burnley are presently missing Benson, Beyer, Jay & THB, and we've had absences all season long, that's just part of football.

The beauty about this squad is that missing players can be more or less replaced seamlessly . No other team can match that and it’s very re- assuring when looking ahead to promotion and the Championship title

Because we saw with us that a takeover can stunt investment in the short term. We are also seeing it with Man Utd now hence Weghorst. The turkey needs fattening up (I mean the balance sheet not Weghorst  )

I agree with Boro squad comment but they will improve that if they go up, it is an uninown to what degree.

They were going mental on the BBC comments on the match write up to. They should be concerned, we should also be aware of Middlesboroghs run in. They had to play us and Norwich at home and Luton away...after that its all very winnable matches for them. If they won them all they would have 95 points.. So we need to win 8 to be certain. Sheffield have a very hard run in with lots of top 8 teams to play and more away than at home. So I reckon they will fall out of top two and its Middlesborogh who will be the ones we need to beat for the title.

Boro also have West Brom away next. They’re on a good run but they couldn’t have asked for an easier game yesterday so it’ll take some doing to keep winning. We’ve got the final game of this tough run coming on Tuesday then there’s some highly winnable fixtures around the corner.

If Boro win every game left this season they will probably deserve to win the title ...

Oh and 13 games = 39 points so they would finish on 96 😉

The teams at the bottom become harder to beat the longer the season goes on, but looking at Boro's fixtures i fancy them to come 2nd.

There fans going into a full on panic adds even more weight to Boro beating them was the best result. Felt madness anyone wanting Boro to lose to Sheff Utd and keep Sheff Utd within touching distance of us rather than closer to 3rd place.

There isn't anybody at Sheff Utd focusing on us instead of Boro they are all looking what is behind rather than in front

Absolutely.

Had a long read of their forum yesterday, and we weren’t mentioned anywhere. Their complete focus is staying ahead of Boro, but looking at Sheff Utd’s next 9 fixtures, I fully expect Boro to overtake them.

Interestingly, Berge is getting slated too. Slow, lazy and pedestrian when he gets on the ball.

We are 95% for the title and >99% for promotion according to a data scientists model.

11 points ahead of a fading Sheff Utd.

15 points clear of Boro with a game in hand.

And yet some still can't bring themselves to proclaim our imminent title party.

Just enjoy the procession folks we won't have another season like this for a awful long time.

On paper I think Boro have easier fixtures then Sheff Utd
Hardish games I think for Utd are home matches against Watford, Luton, WBA and given their away record PNE and away they have to play Rovers, Sunderland Norwich and us
Boro have PNE us and Norwich at home WBA and Luton away. I think Boro are a real threat to Utd now.
But 'tis a funny old game and 'owt can happen.

And I am one of those. I know we are streets ahead of where we were when top of the league in 1962 but will never forget how we imploded and lost out to Ipswich. So will always wait until the fat lady sings.

I'm all for history, but you can't compare football in 1962 to football in 2023

Its almost like comparing different sports

All that will stop us winning the league is a catastrophic injury crisis coupled with a catastrophic drop of form of most of the side, and a record breaking run from either Sheff Utd or 'Boro

Its worth remembering that for all the people falling over themselves about how good Boro are at the moment have failed to mention that we've got more points than them (and beat them) over the same period

Someone (forgot the name as they had only made 1 post and joined yesterday) tried to say how Boro were going to get 95 points 🤭 if they won every game between now and May (all 13 matches) 🤣🤣🤣

Just looked back "pasojuba" was the poster

Exactly, their whole psyche and dynamic has changed now, they are looking like potential bottle jobs. As mentioned above, even if Boro win all their games, we would now only need 24 points from 14 games to win the title on goal difference.

A Boro win against Sheff Utd has helped us massively in our bid for the title.

Sheff Utd have a whole host of players who have been out for a long period. How they have kept pace is a tribute to them.
So have we. I'm not sure we've actually had the full squad available since before the world cup.
Twine - top signing of the summer so you'd expect him to be a first choice. Wasn't really fit until January.
THB out
Jay in and out for a while and needed minutes managing all season
Cork suspension and also needed managing
Zaroury and Roberts at the WC then absent after
Vitinho was first choice before his injury
Churlinov only squad but was injured just as he was getting in the side
Benson out currently
Beyer now out
Gudmundsson needing minutes managing at various times
Tella now a doubt
Muric had a few troubles now and then

In recent games we've been without arguably our best winger (Benson), top scoring preferred striker (Jay), one or both preferred CBs (Beyer/THB), and at various times either Muric, Cork, Vitinho (again when he'd been first choice) or a combination all at once. We've somehow still kept pace.

Sheffield either have no depth or a weak jaw.

Would much rather Boro go up for Burnleys own benefit and also because I have mates who support Boro and Wednesday, no love lost for United after the Warnock and Blackwell years.

Football in 1962 may be different to 2023, but teams can still lose big leads.

I can see Boro getting to about 84 points and Sheffield 82. So it'll be close.
We would need 4 wins and a draw from the remaining 14 games.

From the previous 32 matches ... we have 21 wins 9 draws and 2 losses ... if we can't get at least 6 more wins and a few draws from 14 matches to get to the mid 90's we don't deserve the title.

Forget Boro and Sheff U and conentrate on Lil ol' Burnley 😉 We are Magnificent 😁

Don’t really see why there should be such antipathy towards Sheffield Utd.
Personally, I hope they go up along with us.

After Millwall we have 12 games left

4 against the top half
8 against the bottom half (inc the current bottom 5)

doesn't seem fair that two teams play 45 games and everyone else gets 46, who else is in our boat?

Ah I missed QPR off, for some reason I thought we'd played them twice

revised:

After Millwall we have 13 games left

4 against the top half
9 against the bottom half (inc the current bottom 5)

Even better :)

Basically, though while not exact, whatever Boro do we need to do 50% - if they win 12 we need six etc

I've always had a soft spot for United. I attended uni in Sheffield and all the decent people were United supporters.

Aren't they up the proverbial if they don't get promoted this year? I thought I read somewhere that they're in a similar position to us when Coyle took us up.

They’ll be reyt. Would be able to cash in on Ndiaye and Berge for 40m+.

Those two are nowhere near 20 million pound players they will be lucky to get 10 million for either of them.
