I always look out for East Fife’s results and want them to win. Ever since I visited their ground once when passing through Scotland.

Leicester. Ever since they went bust on purpose to avoid paying for their new stadium and screwed over many local businesses while still paying Muzzy Izzet a fortune at the same time

Likes: Blackpool, twente, alemania aachen, Arbroath, arundel, Ringmer, West brom. Plymouth, maidstone, Kidderminster, saltdean, Notts County, Everton.
Sides I go and watch, so rate higher than the above: nac breda, lokeren, Merthyr, rye town, newhaven, waterford, Grimsby, Chesterfield, Stoke and Norwich.
Dislikes: most are rational:-
Liverpool - league of their own, then in no particular order:-
Chippenham Town, West ham (although I dislike them less after that flag in the centre circle game), ado, man u, Leeds, East Preston (not in Preston), dagenham, Watford (irrational), and Crawley Town.
I was a football club secretary for a bit, so have fond memories of clubs that were genuine and friendly to deal with eg Redhill, Dorking wanderers, Staveley, leverstock green, and the opposite of a number of other clubs that behaved in a manner which were dishonest or unprofessional. That's you shoreham Town and Eastbourne Town.

Could someone explain why people think Liverpool are so full of self pity? That really IS irrational. And why do so many of our fans hate Leeds so much, I don’t have any problem with them.

I think that it once came up as a topic of discussion on here whether we'd played Bristol Rovers on 3 different grounds - Eastville, Twerton Park and the Memorial Ground, but I think it turned out that we didn't.
Similarly with Chester City - Sealand Road, Moss Rose and Deva Stadium, but again not if my memory serves me well.
We have played Spurs on 3 different grounds in recent times though.

Look for Ross County result. Absolutely no idea why. Never been, don't know anyone who has, no connection to the place at all.
Hate Millwall and West Ham. I do know why, trouble makers, same when they follow England.

Re: Do you irrationally like/dislike any other teams?
In no particular order:
1) Unbelievably arrogant and deluded fan base.
2) Don Revie’s sides of the late 60s and early 70s.
3) Proximity to Burnley and general anti-Yarkshire sentiment. I suppose this works on the flip side, too, as I’m sure many Yorkshire-based Clarets frequently find themselves having to deal with the aforementioned arrogance and delusion.

no, not dislike, despise.
I hate them in fact with all my heart. I hate their fans, their ex players on EVERY tv and radio show.
I want them to lose all their games and eventually lose their league status.

Re: Do you irrationally like/dislike any other teams?
I hate Bolton Wanderers, even more than Rovers.
They are really self entitled. Think they’re massive. Think football owes them. Just because they had Nat Lofthouse!! When at school, it was Super Whites this, that & everything. Come on.. they’ve NEVER won the league!!!
Then fat Garside, who tried everything to keep them in the premier league, thst league they couldn’t afford to be in. He tried his hardest from his position when they were struggling to get a PL Div 2 off the ground, so they’d get more money. They soon got found out when the silver platter was removed. I really do wish they’d have folded, and disappeared.

I have been following their fortunes or more like misfortunes for about 55 years now! I just liked the sound of their name and even though they now play in the Lowland League I still always look for their results.
Dislike

Re: Do you irrationally like/dislike any other teams?
This is what I can’t understand about football rivalries as I’ve got older. Your first point kind of suggests that Leeds fans are all (or mostly) arrogant and deluded. On what is this assumption based? Is it because they think their club is the best thing in football? Don’t most fans think that about their club? Is it because they think they are a big club? If so that is correct, they are a huge club with a big fan base with a fairly recent (within living memory) history of winning trophies. They are not the ‘big six’ but they are comparable to Wolves or Villa etc.Beagle wrote: ↑Sun Feb 19, 2023 11:06 pmIn no particular order:

The second point about Revie doesn’t seem relevant. How long does anyone want to bear a grudge? Fact is things were different and yes they were a hard side but then so were many others.
Third point is just really about geographical rivalry really.

Re: Do you irrationally like/dislike any other teams?
Not teams, though it's always nice to see rich teams get beat by poorer teams, but as soon as I start a new game of Football Manager I always edit Jorginho, Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva to have permanent injuries. That's pretty irrational.

Leeds. I think everyone with the exception of their own supporters hates them. My absolute hatred dates back to when Casper was injured by Hunter.
Liverpool: Arrogant bunch.
Stockport: Still have the scar from the 88 battle.
Lincoln: Got involved in a battle with them lot way back in a pre season comp, possibly the Watney cup? Also the FA cup when they almost crippled JBG.
Wrexham: They're Welsh, arrogant and I've seen too many scraps in Chester town centre when they play each other. It doesn't matter if Chester play them away, bus loads come over to Chester to cause trouble.
and finally Celtic after the absolute mayhem they caused in the Anglo Scottish cup at the Turf.

Re: Do you irrationally like/dislike any other teams?
Can't say I have much dislike for any club other than Blackburn. All feels a bit forced with anyone else.
I've noticed a quite a few exiled Clarets have a dislike for the clubs near where live now, particularly Bradford for some reason. I have to say, I quite like all my local clubs to do well.. Barnsley, Huddersfield, the Sheffield clubs. Obviously not when we're in direct competition as with the Blades at the moment but generally they all seem sound.

Re: Do you irrationally like/dislike any other teams?
Leeds, because they're Leeds ... cynical, rotating fouling side of the 70's
Liverpool ... I once saw a bunch of them throw a teenage Forest fan off Trent Bridge into the river, can't have been more than 14 !! If caught, they'd have probably blamed " Thatcher & 'dem Tories "
MK Dons - Non Club ..
Man City/ Real Madrid/ Barcelona / Juventus - Stench of corruption around them is overwhelming ....
A soft spot for Notts County, Accrington Stanley and Barrow ( good to have them back in the league ! )

Same. It still angers me that a brand new club got to start life in the second tier, especially as they've since conceded all 'their' historical achievements to AFC Wimbledon.claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Sun Feb 19, 2023 1:50 pmI will never respect MK Dons.
They will never be a proper football club in my opinion. I genuinely hope they go bust on day, their fans won't miss them because they are not proper football supporters anyway. I wouldnt even wish that on them lot down the road.

Re: Do you irrationally like/dislike any other teams?
I suppose the clue is in the thread title…irrational. I’m trying to rationalise irrational thinking. The answer is that many on here think that Leeds fans are arrogant and deluded because they think that Leeds fans are arrogant and deluded. There is no rationale because if there was they’d see that Leeds fans are much the same as any other fans. It’s like calling them dirty Leeds because once, for a very few short years, they were a team of very hard footballers. This was over 50 years ago and the manager and half the players are no longer even alive. Truly irrational indeed.

Re: Do you irrationally like/dislike any other teams?
In the English leagues:
-Dislike Man U, Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool, to a slightly lesser extent Arsenal due to their arrogance and buying success
-Dislike Leeds due to their innate dirty approach and awful fans
-Dislike Newcastle, West Ham due to their arrogant fans
-Dislike Millwall, thugs
-Dislike Cardiff and Shef Utd due to memories of dirtiness against us but especially Cardiff, seem to recall Darren Purse had his ban overturned so he could captain them in the cup final after his assault on Andrew Cole
-Soft spot for Brentford due to their approach and Ben Mee
-Soft spot for Palace, Watford, Boro, Wednesday, Ipswich Sunderland, Doncaster, Rotherham and Leicester due to mates who support/supported them and experiences with their supporters.
I have a team or two I vaguely look out for in each of the major European leagues often for completely arbitrary reasons- Bremen and Wolfsburg in Germany, Toulouse and Lyon in France, Sevilla in Spain, Fiorentina in Italy.

Re: Do you irrationally like/dislike any other teams?
Reading seems to be popping up a lot. Any reason why? We have a bad record against them and that annoying so and so manages them at the moment but we beat them home and away in the play offs, their fan base isn't particularly big or nasty. I don't see the club or fans as offensive to my Burnley Football Club values

Brighton (weird fans).
Also developed a recent dislike of Coventry for the same reason. When we got linked with O’Hare they seemed to think they had a god given right to keep him and that he would never move to a club like Burnley, despite them being a nothing club. They adopted a similar approach with their Swedish striker and all the clubs that have been linked with him.

Rational; Blackburn, PNE, Leeds, Man City, Rangers, Accrington (can't stand John Coleman & a lot of their fans I know dislike Burnley. I went to watch them once at Morecambe and got dogs abuse because I had a Burnley beanie hat on.)
Irrational; Aldershot, Macclesfield, Barrow, Forest Green.
Soft spot/look out for results; Torquay, Ashton Town, Hartlepool, Albion Rovers, East Stirling, Brechin, Berwick & Burgess Hill
