A good point at the start of the night, but should have been more. CB needs a word with a few, snatching at chances that just needed stroking in.
Lessons learned hopefully, onwards and upwards.

Re: Millwall v Burnley match thread
Dominated it, they nicked that point.
The frustration is, as seen by the second they scored onwards, we could have taken that game well away from them if we had played with intensity. We had dropped off, particularly after Gudmundsson came on for Twine. This team has a great ability to shift it's gear up when needed, but can also look to kill games and waste time. Today I think we did the latter too soon and should have strived for the second, which was there for us.
Either way, I wanted four points from this and Luton and we got it - good return.

Thought we were better tonight than Saturday but 4 points from two tough away games is good going. Credit also to VK for making a good team selection in going with Twine and Vitinho ahead of Cork and JBG

Still, as we've all suspected all along, Millwall fans can't count past 6 - that commentator was as thick as pig ****

Re: Millwall v Burnley match thread
Coulda shoulda etc etc ... Credit Millwall.
No complaints from me a solid point in a hostile atmosphere.
Still undefeated since Sheff U in November and 16 points clear of 3rd with 13 games to play

Millwall comms celebrating like they won the league !! Suppose that’s a compliment to us
Re: Millwall v Burnley match thread
Agree. We've been about as clinical as it gets this season.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2023 9:44 pmA good performance. I get fed up of hearing “must take our chances” because over the season we are well ahead in terms of chance conversion. They hung in there and got their reward, a bit fortunately. A good side.
Re: Millwall v Burnley match thread
Only saw the last twenty or so but played it around well and controlled it pretty comfortably after they’d equalised.
That’s a tricky run of fixtures navigated really well with some decent minutes in the boots of a few of the fringe players.
Onwards and upwards.

Cheer up for goodness sake we/re 12 points clear at the top.RickyBobby wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2023 9:43 pmIf we do go up we will get eaten alive in the Prem playing like that. Poor tactics. No need at all to change what we were doing after our goal. Played right into their hands. We missed Bayer at the back. Too lightweight tonight.
Tough game coming up on Saturday against Colin. If he just watched that I am sure he will fancy his chance of getting something.

Re: Millwall v Burnley match thread
Think Millwall will be a serious play-off contender-their run in is relatively easy, and they did us a favour last Saturday
Re: Millwall v Burnley match thread
Didn’t take our chances, especially in the first half and they had one and took it. 4 points from 2 tough away games is a good return but can’t help but feel a bit disappointed having controlled tonight’s game for most of it.
Not overly impressed by Millwall as a footballing side tbh as I thought they were very hoof ball but they did show good energy and fight. Fingers crossed that West Brom can beat Boro or at least take points off them to end their run.

I suspect that would not be our first choice team.

good point. great haul from two quick away matches v teams pushing for promotion.

Happy with a point but 2 thrown away but 4 points from 2 away games v top 6 teams is great especially with half the team out

Not many teams will get 4 points (or more) at Luton and Millwall away.
Got relegation fodder coming up now - Huddersfield, Wigan and Blackpool.

Re: Millwall v Burnley match thread
I don't like this tendency we have to completely stop playing, i'm almost more confident we'll win a game if it's 1-1 with 30 to play than if we're 1-0 up with 30 to go. 10 man Luton had us camped in our own box for the final 15 at the weekend, that was our own choice. Attack Attack Attack, sat off and just allowed Rory Delap FC to pump balls into our box.
Re: Millwall v Burnley match thread
We beat that lot 3-0 if we don't take our foot off the gas and make negative subs, overall though 4 points from 2 tough away games.
Re: Millwall v Burnley match thread
If Brownhill's effort that hit the post goes in, it's game over. And we could have had a few before HT.
Fair play to Millwall who never gave up and kept looking for a goal. But who cares that they equalised. We're miles ahead and are gonna win the title. I'm having a beer and brandy to celebrate!

Wouldn't be surprised to see Huddersfield turn in there performance of the season under Warnock, won't be easy.Flying Without Ings wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2023 9:50 pmNot many teams will get 4 points (or more) at Luton and Millwall away.

Wigan have started to pick a few points up now.
Blackpool will be up for us but should be a comfortable day.

One of those subs (Taylor) cost us the game tbh. Two half-arsed attempts to win the ball resulted in both the corner they scored from, and the long throw in that initially won the corner.

Re: Millwall v Burnley match thread
All those sides are battling for their lives as well, so none of them will make it easy, however we should expect 7 points minimum from those 3 which would push us up to 80 points with still 10 games remaining.

Re: Millwall v Burnley match thread
Huddersfield may be up for it but have nowhere near enough quality to compete with us. We outclassed them with a brand new team at their place.
Wigan have won one (at home to Huddersfield) since November.
The league table doesn't lie.
Re: Millwall v Burnley match thread
One of those. Missed chances, fairly negative subs (Taylor). Play that game 10 times and we win 9. Fair play Millwall. I was chuckling at their keeper launching missiles to the edge of our box every time he got the ball but it kept the pressure and must have been horrible to defend!

Re: Millwall v Burnley match thread
Solid defending but we were missing the direction of Beyer.
Disruptive runs and consistency from the back is what complements our attacking efforts and keeps opposition at bay in the last 20 minutes when leading. Hope boss Beckenbeyer is on board again soon. Beyer/Ekdal our new backbone force. UTC

Good night out at the den, and I haven’t seen any issues so far. Both sets of fans had a great banter with some amusing songs flowing. My favourite was “You in the red coat, you’re probably a nonce”.

No THB, Beyer, Jayrod, Benson, Tella (to be honest), we are playing twice a week, every team is up to play like hell against us and we we have taken four points from two hard away games. I’m happy with that.

If you're annoyed with Taylor then you have to be annoyed with Barnes for his half arsed attempt to block the cross.dougcollins wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2023 10:00 pmOne of those subs (Taylor) cost us the game tbh. Get a point away on a Tuesday night with a depleted squad against a form team in the playoffs and all of a sudden it’s watch out for Huddersfield and Wigan at home

Especially considering we're romping away with the title, and have barely suffered defeat all season, sometimes fans expect too much.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2023 10:35 pmGet a point away on a Tuesday night with a depleted squad against a form team in the playoffs and all of a sudden it’s watch out for Huddersfield and Wigan at home

14 points out of a possible 18 vs
West Brom
Norwich
Preston
Watford
Luton
Millwall
With 3 of those being long away trips is a very good return

Must agree with this. Christ knows what that attempt was that lead to the corner.dougcollins wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2023 10:00 pmOne of those subs (Taylor) cost us the game tbh. Bit too much tinkering both before and during the game for my liking from VK tonight - thought we had them on toast in the main and should’ve killed them off. Think he has credit in the bank though…
