My mistake, I thought we were talking about the terracing at the front of the long side that was sectioned off for younger fans, so that they could see the game easier. At 24 years old, obviously you weren't.

I don't know. It wasn't regarded as special when Kevin Long was prepared to do just that. He was seen by many as having no ambition or 'stealing a wage'.

I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong, but I suspect there is rather a large disparity in what Freddie Smith earned by play in second fiddle and what Kevin Long earned.

Well there would be and if Freddie was on maximum wage then no point moving unless he wanted to play first team football and may not have been offered the maximum wage

Love this old pic of the Bob Lord, looks great with terracing at the front...can we recreate that when Safe Standing comes in?

Going back to the OP. That's a lot of terracing. Am I missing something here? Has the level of the pitch been changed since then? The wall at the back of the terracing looks really high and almost level with the pillars supporting the roof, there are 8 pillars in that photo and just 4 today next to the exits which are 5(?) rows back from the front of the stand. It looks like the roof extends at least 6 feet beyond the wall now but in that picture it looks to stop straight after the pillars.

When were the changes made to the roof supports and the seating? Wikipedia says it was built with 2500 seats and then later in the Turf Moor page it says there are 4000 seats in there. I can't remember it being changed in the last 30 years.

There's a hell of a lot of room in front of the Bob Lord which presumably is the limit of where the old terrace stood or was that what was left by Linpave when they did the two new stands to allow the Bob Lord to be rebuilt in the future?
