Just so we're all clear and in agreement and there's no pretence among us or anything, absolutely nobody is following a single one of these rules, right? I think it's actually central to the human condition to ignore sound advice.

My grandmother once told me "Neither a lender or borrower be". I was about 6 at the time and didnt understand it - she explained it but at 6 that was still a lot to try to take in!

The quote “Neither a borrower nor a lender be” is a quote from Shakespeare. In Act 1 Scene 3 of Hamlet, Polonius is giving advice to his son Laertes, who is about to travel to France for some time.
Regarding advice from my father, he said to me when I was about eighteen “When you start serious courting with a lass or even decide to get married, always choose a girl with small hands......it will make your dick look bigger”. Genuine words of wisdom.

Treat people how you'd like to be treated yourself
Motorways are just a very fast one way street, look a mile ahead, not 200 yards ahead
Assume everyone else on the road is a complete f*****g idiot !
Never bet with money you can't afford to lose
Always leave the Countryside or a Beach without any evidence that you've been there
Never trust the French
Getting married is like choosing the same Breakfast cereal for the rest of your life, don't do it if you still want to choose from a " variety pack " !
There are good and bad people of every race, colour and creed
Try not to bet on a " Handicap " race, they're all supposed to finish in a " Dead Heat "
That was my driving instructor's favourite saying.

no matter how nice smelling the soap in the bathroom is, never come out into public from a bathroom smelling your hands.

My mother said, you'll have to kiss a lot of toads before you meet your prince

Hubby's father said, marry a girl with small hands, my mother in law had tiny hands !

" It's not a question of whether we took a few liberties with our female guests, we did ! ( wink ) "

How come I remember these lines, and not where I was last Friday, without resorting to my diary ?

Being offended by something is subjective and just a personal feeling.

So the rule is, ignore the sandal wearers.

It’s a strange one bud but I understand the sentiment behind it, I just can’t see how, if you have for instance a car accident that doesn’t kill you but you wind up severely disabled with brain damage how that can possibly make you stronger. A friend of mine had a stroke and he survived but he now needs 24 hour care.
Apologies for being a bit pedantic but it just seems like one of those phrases that looks good until you look at the detail, then it all kinda falls apart.
