Part of the reason for not going was knowing we wouldn’t play our strongest team.
How many times has our keeper lost possession?

I tell you what - City are a one off in that league (well, Arsenal I suppose too this season).

This performance really gives me confidence about playing against the bottom half home or away. I think we’d be comfortable at that level, really do.
With a nice summer transfer window coming as well.

Anyone criticising Burnley today should have a life ban from this board.

We’ve been slow in possession on occasion, which is unlike us this season and a need for more quality in midfield has been demonstrated, but even with that, it’d be a struggle against these.

It’s great learning and barring the quality of Haaland, we’ve held our own and played the right way. There are positive signs for next season here, with a few additions.

It’s a shame Muric isn’t playing, he has been missed today.

In the last ten years prior to us drawing there 2-2 and in our first year in the prem, that performance has been the best ive seen in terms of how weve played at the etihad
Agreed, and it was 3-3 not 2-2. We've been brave and worked incredibly hard, given a good account of ourselves.

BPF is just not in the same postcode as Muric as a goalkeeper but obviously he is VK’s FA Cup keeper. Just a bit frustrating when we’ve played really well. H/T sub for me would be Benson for Vitinho

We've looked very threatening throughout ....just lacking that killer pass, we have had opportunities which bodes well for the future.

I’m not too bothered what score this finishes now, it’s become more and more clear that we will walk the league next season . UTC

90% of the teams next season we have a real chance against. City will not be one of them, so let's just use this experience and crack on.

Let's not forget they've got one player who has cost more than twice our entire squad rebuild..

So does almost every world class CB in the world. Beyer overall, for me has done very well.

I genuinely think we are only a few players away from being Premier League ready.
Haaland is the worlds best striker, be a big learning lesson for him. I love Beyer to be fair.

We are doing very very well. They've only had two chances both to Haaland. We have had two better chances but didn't go our way. A Very good effort from us. We have limited arguably the best team in the world to just two chances in 45 minutes.
Come on the Clarets..all is not lost at all.

Haaland is in a different class.
By and large we've played well. Shame about the goals, but conceding was almost inevitable.
Lets enjoy the game, it's brilliant to see us having a go at City.

Absolutely. Imagine this team with a PL quality CM in and Muric. Not far off.
A striker too but I say that through the lens of not knowing enough at this stage of Foster’s chances at this level (been fine tonight though). I’d always try and find a spot for Benny too, but he’s so good as a substitute that I’m not certain really.

If we retain our loan players and spend big - for us - on a CM and striker (maybe also look at improved ‘depth’ to replace likes of Bastien etc) we will do really well. Big if, granted.

Any negatives are ridiculous. They’ve had 2 shots on target and scored both, because he’s unreal and our sun keeper is average at best. We’ve done better than almost any other time here in recent years and competed, but what is shown is any slip and you get punished.

Prouder now than at any other trip to the etihad

Beyer didn't lose Haaland for the second, he was in a foot race with one of the fastest players in the world and as expected he lost.

Been really impressed with us out of possession (bar the loss of concentration for the goals obvs, but hey it’s city!)
Just disappointing but totally understandable that we’ve been a bit rabbit in headlights in possession.

Tbh I think that although obviously BPF isn’t as good with his feet as Muric he’s playing to instruction.
We aren’t playing out like we usually do, he’s been told to kick long or out to the wings and if it goes out don’t worry about it which l think is sensible against city’s press.
We could clone City's team and I wouldn't want to pass short against Haaland. He's far too fast and far too clinical. Someone his size shouldn't be that quick.

Strange subs. Feel oddly negative and focused on damage limitation but hopefully Kompany has some maverick plan up his sleeve.

Was before HT when we had a few really good openings, broke the lines and he makes sloppy passes straight back to them. Not a one off. Like I say he works and presses so well, which is why he’s in today.

He's been sloppy today and I'm normally a big fan.
But just now in the second half he did what he's done many times- find acres of space on the right- and nobody looks to switch it to him. Zaroury had the chance but didn't, the Twitter thread on Kompanys tactics has another clip of the same happening.
He's excellent at finding that space but we never seem to use it.
But today I'd get Benson on, he might lose the ball and be riskier but has the flair to find a way past their press.

Know what you mean to a certain extent but think johann has been below par and think Kompany’s probably hoping that Barnes will bring a bit of calmness and experience to our attack, we’ve looked very jittery in possession
