Sounds like it's been all Newcastle looking at the stats.

Man Utd striker Wout Weghorst had just seven touches of the ball in that first half.

Wout ineffective again I'm afraid to say.
Pretty much sums up the game to this point.

Newcastle should be ahead but as we know not taking your chances can come back to bite.

Weghorst has been ineffective and anonymous so far.

United playing with 10 men
And they are still thinking of buying him.

If you turn your tv up, you can literally hear the air being torn when Weggy makes them forward bursts

That's exactly how it appears

He's about to go off after a non-existent performance

Antony been just as bad as Wout. He might come good but I struggle to understand his 90m fee.

V good goal for Newcastle. That’s what happens when you take big Wout off.

Weghorst presses well and stops opponents dominating in midfield.

Soon as he comes off, Newcastle score.

I’m not a huge fan, but Neville is embarrassing the way he was slating him.

Weghorst was propping up MU. They took him off and are now one down! 😁

Agree with this, though in fairness they could have scored at least 1 already

He's done that at times in previous games for Man Utd but not this one - he's offered next to nothing today

What does everyone think will actually happen with Weghorst in the summer? I mean, he’s still contracted for another 2 years? Ten Hag spoke lately about how important he’s been and valued he is at the club. Do United try get him for a low fee as a squad member? Or will another overseas club take him? I just can’t see him re-fitting into what we are building here, despite him being good enough for us.

I'd be surprised if United try to sign him permanently. He's no where near good enough for them. They would have had a very poor transfer window if he's playing for them next season.

Tempted to agree but he has more shots today than Rashford and Fernandes combined, and has a better pass completion percentage.

United fans are fickle by any standards and love a scapegoat, but they need to cast the net wider today.

Yet their form with him in the team has been very good. I think 8m or thereabouts and they might take him. They will sign another striker or two but they play that many games he may still be in and around it. Otherwise, we've got a bit of a conundrum, perhaps there's a team in Germany that will take him back there.

Plenty of poor individual performances in the Man United team today. But Wout's pass completion rate and other stats are pretty meaningless because he barely touched the ball. He was substituted before others fir a reason.

Has to be said though that Newcastle have played well and Howe is doing a very good job there unsurprisingly.

If he's had that much influence then they will certainly sign him and we should demand much more than £8m. But I'm not sure that is correct from what I've seen which is quite a lot.

Utd have fell apart since Weggy went off, simply because they don't have any work ethic in their side.

Very deserved from Newcastle. They've been superb at home this season. Proper daunting task going there for anyone.

United missing Casemiro, Fred and Eriksen massively. Sabitzer and McTominay are nowhere near.

Brilliant when we get promoted, but this match typifies the Premier Lg .As Stan would have said,a load of Billy Big ********,players going down like they’re shot ,ball probably in play for about 50 mins, arseholes like Gordon earning an absolute fortune,Newcastles dodgy owners ,(rant over)

I’ve said it before but for all their hype, Man United have been bang average this season.

They’re only where they are in the league due to Chelsea and Spurs being dreadful, but you can bet Chelsea won’t be as poor next year.

They have just put Man Utds record up of away games to the top 9 teams.

It's absolutely shocking.

Wholeheartedly agree. I don’t watch much EPL football. But this as been the typical game where players have gone down at any, no matter how slight the contact.
The Man U player in the first half, hand touched his chest, went down and rolled around like he was shot. I ******* hate it.

I’d love to show them a replay, the compare a rugby league tackle, then ask them what the think, I say think, but who knows if they can?

No I’m not, I’m commenting on the premier league. I don’t see Burnley players doing it the that extent. They Certainly didnt under Dyche in the premier league.

But hey, if you enjoy it? Fill your boots.

It's not that I enjoy it, I'm just not that stupid to whine about other teams doing it whilst we're also doing it.

Gordon hasn't really been doing that since he moved. It's almost as if someone told him to stop it because he was totally **** at doing it.

Difficult to see that weghorst was much worse than a lot of the red team today. Centre backs were OK and got taken off. De gea made a couple of saves. The rest were all below par. Still a lazy bunch of players on the whole. Particularly away from home. And they want rid of mctominay, one of the few that does put in a bit of a shift?
