I'd settle for two draws tonight and Monday. It's a matter of when we get promoted not if so no real rush for me.............but a win tonight would be fantastic!

Re: Boro v Clarets Match Thread
If he's a close personal friend maybe you could ask him why he's on the bench then let us lot knowDIF wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 7:10 pmSorry, I want to start off by saying that I only recently started following Burnley because of Ekdal moving there since he played for our club (and is a close personal friend of mine), but why is he benched? In the Burnley-matches I've seen he seems to have done really well and I thought he had his position in the starting-11 locked down. Has he been poor recently or is it a tactical decision? What are your views on him in general so far? Thanks!
Re: Boro v Clarets Match Thread
Just sorted tickets for QPR and Bristol. I won't forgot my fellow match day exiles at these games and will try (signal availability) to update on the thread.

Cummon You Clarets. Let’s put this to bed. First team to be promoted from the new Championship with 7 games remaining.
Re: Boro v Clarets Match Thread
Why noTHB?
Re: Boro v Clarets Match Thread
Hi Dif. Welcome. Even when Ekdal has moved on you are now a Burnley fan and this is a life commitment. Ekdal has looked solid and a good addition to the team. Kompany is proving to be a tactically accomplished manager so him being on the bench will be for valid tactical reasons I assume.DIF wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 7:10 pmSorry, I want to start off by saying that I only recently started following Burnley because of Ekdal moving there since he played for our club (and is a close personal friend of mine), but why is he benched? Burnley played most of first half of season with Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Jordan Beyer has "first pick" central half. Charlie Taylor, more often left back, provided cover. Both THB and JB are on loan and, so far as we know, Burnley have no agreed buy option in the summer. First game in January, THB was injured putting him out for several weeks. He returned last week. In January transfer window Burnley signed Hjolmar Ekdal and Ameen Al-Dakhil a couple of weeks later. Both are great signings. Both have played well alongside Jordan Beyer. Both have played well alongside each other. In THB absence, Jordan Beyer has been pick of those 3 centre halves. It's a great problem to have, which two CHs start and who is on the bench.
Re: Boro v Clarets Match Thread
THB can't play two games together due to being out so long. Al Dakhil has looked good in training.

Get in! I wanted to see JBG over Benson rather than Zaroury but he did very well there.
Think that might have been ruled out in the Prem though especially against certain teams.

Close decision for offside

Would have been chalked off in the PL, but that’s next year’s problem.

El-D is perhaps faster and Boro will be looking to catch us on the break.

They have got to come at us now so opens up nicely for us to smash them on the break..Burnley Ace wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 8:14 pmEl-D is perhaps faster and Boro will be looking to catch us on the break.

Honestly I can't understand why he's suddenly on the bench. Ekdal's been pretty much magnificent since we signed him, our defence and keeper instantly looked much more composed and we were assured and dominant in our half. I think we've looked far shakier with him out recently, and while I assume Al Dakhil is a tactical choice tonight to counter Boros pace, so far I think we're again looking nervier and sloppier at the back without Ekdal. Big big fan.

I can’t think of any logical reason offsides shouldn’t be based on the feet.

Re: Boro v Clarets Match Thread
I get the interpretation, but there’s no reason that should have to matter. I guess a logical reason could be certain parties wanting more leeway when trying to tip the scales.tarkys_ears wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 8:21 pmWell technically you can score with your head is the reason but I completely agree.

Middlesbrough have given as good as they’ve gotten from us. Haven’t been clinical in the last third, tho.
