and that's Palace a whole 5 points clear of the relegation zone, incredibly tight
6 and they'll surely be safe now given their reasonable run-in.

We’ve seen a lot of big decision mistakes in our games this season but better that than these ridiculously long delays.

All you need to do when you score in the Championship is make sure there is no flag going up. So much better.
Agreed. I’ll take mistakes over countless checks (and still errors made).

Icing on the cake of a brilliant season would be a Leeds relegation.
The cherries on it would be our friends down the road missing out on the play offs. :D

So all the 'conniving' with Brentford on the last day of last season may have only delayed the inevitable.
Fingers crossed 🤞

Leeds look like they over pressed in the first half, and they've been blowing on empty in the second

I was a big fan of VAR at first. If I never see it again now it’ll be too soon.

"Applied correctly" is the key here Roy. It rarely if ever is! It clears up little and creates it's own debate and confusion. I've absolutely loved not having to suffer it. It's awul.

It's not just if incorrect decisions are made by VAR, it's the way it kills the moment of a goal.

But VAR should be there to get decisions correct.
For all the disruption it causes, it has to be there ONLY to clear up OBVIOUS and blatant errors.
This means (IMO) that if whoever is in charge of VAR has to look at it more than once then it can't be a clear error.
All this slide rule application of offside and looking at incidents from multiple angles does not suggest a clear and obvious error has been made.
Problem is, once we have VAR then logically we think that it should correct ALL errors and this means that it ruins the game as it takes too long, and inevitably there are still errors because in many cases these decisions are still down to human interpretation and error.
The game survived for over a century without it and we still enjoyed the games, despite some refereeing mistakes.

Because it has completely ruined the game. We’ve even had correct decisions reversed. I’d rather have refereeing errors and get on with it than VAR. I game it a chance when it came in but I think it has seriously damaged the game.

I was all for it but now I'm more in your camp now, the refs are making more errors with VAR as there are two of them getting it wrong ! We managed for over 100 years without it

Technology is fine for objective decisions. That’s why it works in cricket because every decision is objective. That’s why goal line technology works. But for the subjective decisions, all it’s doing is passing the decision from one referee to another and spending an age doing it. It just doesn’t work.

VAR in some form or other can improve the game. For whatever reason it just still isn't being used as effectively as it needs to be.

Unfortunately I do have to get used to it but I do not like it and the majority of people don’t or that’s what I think talking to people at grounds, seeing the comments on here and dealing with people at the FSA.

If you like it then good for you.

Referees are not making decisions now as they leave it to VAR. But VAR only looks for obvious errors and the refs are hiding behind it. This is leading to some very strange decisions.
But, the big problem is the effect it has on the ground when every goal celebration has to be put on hold as they try to find a reason to disallow it.
Bin it.

But Roy, as others have said it's ruining the spectacle and the "moment", especially when a goal goes in and at the same time it's actually created a whole new area of controversy because people are still arguing about what they see on VAR just as they've always done when watching "live". I genuinely thought it was a great idea originally because I was sick of crap refereeing decisions adversely affecting results, especially in huge games. The reality unfortunately is that it's solved nothing and having had our first season without it in a number of years we've had the best opportunity to see both sides of the coin and surely nobody who goes on the Turf can honestly say they've missed it.

Trent needs to spend a season under Simeone like Tripps did and learn how to defend.

It's here to stay but that doesn't alter the view that many football supporters dislike VAR in its current form.

I think some of the criticism of VAR should be more directed at the rules of the game. VAR has exposed ambiguities and inconsistencies. If we were all clear on what offside is, what part of the body etc, then VAR would quite possibly work more effectively.

The parts of the body where offside applies is clear. One of problems with VAR is its application - twice today a clear onside decision took far too long to judge when it was so obvious.

Really ??.....Applied correctly it surely has to be an asset to the game.
Not for me.

I was a huge fan when it was introduced, but this season has taught me that football is all about the instant reactions of celebrating a goal based on human decisions.

The massive waits to know if your goal stands and good goals being ruled out (often wrongly) for being a whisker offside or brushing a forearm are just not for me anymore!
