Got a feeling Murphy could take the crown though.

Ronnie safely through his 1st round though he was made to work for his victory.
Judd Trump v Anthony McGill is the obvious big name clash in the opening round.

Sadly these tossers can't be volleyed up and down the street so maybe the country should start jailing them. See how brave these bandwagon arseholes are when their attention seeking results in prison

Far too many people are prepared to indulge and excuse them. I’m doing so, they lend them a veneer of respectability.

Kyren Wilson makes a 147 during his 1st round victory, the 13th maximum in Crucible history.
McGill beats Trump 10-6, and although he's a qualifier not many will relish facing the Scot.
No major shocks so far I don't think.

Just watching on Red Button coverage (Freeview 601). Commentators clock off/go silent in between frames, even now during an unscheduled comfort break. I appreciate they are probably used to being recorded for highlights programmes only but when full live coverage is being broadcast, whatever the medium, why not do the job of entertaining your audience?
Minor grumble in what otherwise is a wonderful day

brecel is looking so confident. i reckon it could be his year.
agree with the sentiment that o'sullivan is a knob. a whining shythouse with a mystifying army of sycophants.

brecel will come unstuck against a mcgill or selby /Higgins type I think. He said in his interview he hasn’t got the patience for playing like a selby grafting etc.Doubt he will be as fluent as that I hope he can be great to watch but I’m going to say he gets beat in the semi.

perhaps, but i like the way he gets down on a shot so quickly as though he's in practice. you're right that he needs a better tactical game but i've just got a feeling...

a great snooker player he is but not a nice man.
even his interview after the defeat this afternoon was littered with clumsy provisos.
he's as thick as mince as well.

Wow, what a phenomenal last session of snooker this evening.
The occasion may finally be getting to the young Si, who has played absolutely flawless until the last session.
Can the Belgian bullet pull it off again?

Loss is concentration cost Brecel two frames last night, I fear they will come back to bite him.
However, let’s hope he unleashes everything today and continues to attack whenever possible

How popular is snooker over in Belgium and will winning this event make Brecel in to a star over there?

He isn't underated to people that follow & are knowledgeable about snooker mark Selby is up there with the very best, he's been on the circuit for a good number of years in a high ranked position.

I meant his game, even brecel said he couldn’t play like selby but it’s so effective. Because he’s not easy on the eye I often think he’s not looked at as one of the greats,I watched that last night and it was easy to think brecel was playing better but he loses 6-3 think he deserved better but great fighting from selby.

I can't remember who said it maybe Davis or Murphy but they said he's a 9 in all departments, he's a fluent break builder & the safety side is excellent that about covers it for me on his all round game.

Seen them all over the years, from Davis, Hendry, O'Sullivan, Higgins and the rest.......
But the standard of play in this Final is extraordinary.......
Elemental warm richness. verdant pastures.

Its been a superb tournament and Brecel is just great.
There are some real planks around though. Yesterday the referee had to tell people in a nunber of occasions to switch their phones off or turn to silent.

Fair play to Brecel..... he's sat there and watched Selby play snooker of the highest order, then comes back to the table and wins the frame.......the secret is "nerveless".

In certain environments mobile phones are just intrusive I think people shouldn't even be allowed to have them when entering the room, emergency calls should go through a switchboard & if you don't agree to them rules don't buy a ticket or allow people but fine them if it causes distractions.

He has every shot in his repertoire.
