Post by Hipper » Wed Apr 19, 2023 10:14 am

Why is he not getting a start at this end of the season?

They know what Obafemi can do and Foster probably needs more game time to get used to English football.

According to *insert poster who posts this kind of stuff here* him and Ekdal are on hunger strike in Stoops until their demands to play are met

Well at least that will help him to lose some of that “bulk”.

He should be given a chance to start on Saturday as he has the best goals to minutes ratio of any of our strikers, 2 goals and 1 assist in 140 mins of Championship football for us.

It's not been an issue to me Foster being given a couple of starts to get better bedded in and up to speed, especially with Barnes bowing out shortly, but I think the same opportunity should now be afforded to Obfemi in all fairness and let's see what he can bring.

If you'd asked me to name the players who haven't proved themselves in our current team It would have been between these 4 and Bastien. Bastien plays in a different position and has already had 7 starts and played almost twice as much so I'm guessing that VK's decision is already made on that one.

These stats are from WhoScored. KeyPasses, Dribbles etc are per 90 PS is pass success and is a %

Player.......mins....goals....assists....keyP....Drb...PoorTouch....Dispossesed...PS......Tackles......Interceptions
Foster.......322.....1........0..........0.3.......0.2.......0.8..........0.6...........80.2....0.9..........0
Obafemi....129.....2........1..........0.3.......0.........0.2..........0.3...........85.2....0.1..........0.2
Churlinov...197.....0........0..........0.6.......0.6......1.1..........0.6...........71.4....0.3..........0.1
Twine.......366.....2........0..........0.4.......0.2......0.5..........0.2...........83.7....0.6..........0

It may be that they've decided that Churlinov needs more time than he's going to get this season and it's not going to happen for him yet. I'd guess that his passing is the thing that's letting him down as well as the lack of end product.

Foster and Twine have played almost three times as much as Obafemi but I'd guess that VK and his staff are still working on stuff with them which presumably Obafemi is already up to speed on. Interesting that Twine is dispossessed less frequently than the others considering that people have pointed out how lightweight he is.

Twine looks very promising, a loan to a Championship club for the first half of next season would do him good.

Twine has looked a lot stronger in the past couple of games.

Interesting looking at those stats, and, clearly, the sample size is too small, but considering the minutes played we have

Obafemi - 2 goals in 2 games
Twine - 2 goals in 4 games
Foster - 1 goal in 4 games

You'd be happy signing players with any of those scoring records, given the development potential of young players.

I would have thought with Tella not available Obafemi would have been the obvious one to play.

I can't believe after the few minutes that Obafemi has played he's proved anything. And in any case don't we need to find a way for him and Foster to work together?
