A chance of winning the title and it’s not until they get back level that the crowd shows up.

Pretty hopeless point for both sides in the end, but great entertainment.

Not really, Southampton now only 3 points from 17th with the confidence of taking points from the team currently sitting on top of the league.

Entertaining watch. Shame I had Peter Drury narrating it to taint the experience.

You can end up sleepwalking when you have a bigger game around the corner. We'll probably be similarly sloppy tomorrow against QPR with Blackburn coming up.

Disagree.
Conceding those 2 very late goals when an escape was on the cards will be totally demoralising (IMO). They've missed their chance now.

Not to mention at 1 point in the match 1-3 down & escaping with a point in the overall context could be considered not bad in the long game, I think in the maternity department at the birth occurence the anus & elbow detachment differences weren't properly explained to some of the posters that frequent this forum & I wish I was talking football alone!

Except they were 3-1 up going into the last couple of minutes, not 3-1 down! .. so whilst they gained a point in their survival fight it must feel like 2 points dropped.

I'm referring to the cause of arsenal gaining the point when it looked like they'd be getting nothing, but thanks for demonstrating my earlier point in the strongest casebook example.

Results like last night are not uncommon towards the end of a season
Never fancied playing strugglers in the league near season end and today could be another one delaying our winning of the league
It may not have been near the season end but in 87 didn’t we beat an all conquering Northampton on the Turf?

The result changes nothing really (apart from mentality)

Arsenal win all their games - they win

City win all their games - then they win

Bloody ell, we are about to win the league with just 2 defeats all season and unbeaten at home, yet you come out with this. I know you are a constant negative about our team but come on.

The bottom of the prem will be weaker next year with the 3 promoted sides in there, as the championship will be much stronger at the top.

All the bottom sides are full of athletic fast players.

Anyone around the playoffs needs to get up this season.

Three points and Southampton were still in with a chance, now it’s relegation for them I fear

Arsenal have blown their title chances, that’s for sure

Saints looked really good first half, then took a bit of time to work out the five at the back, then looked really good until about the 88th minute, when they finally ran out of gas

What struck me was just how much work both sides had to do, and there was was precious little chance of anyone being able to calm it down, even Odegaard (who was the best player on the pitch)

A result which really helps neither, Arsenal have handed City the intuitive in the title fight.

And Southampton really needed to win, especially being 3-1 up so late in proceedings.

Predictable response I suppose when you've been proved to have made an error. (Why not just accept that, like the rest of us, we get things wrong from time to time?)
I'm not going to bore people by copying the relevant posts, but anyone following the thread can clearly see that you were replying to a thread that said Southampton might be happy with the point. [There was no reference in the post whatsoever as to how useful the point would be to Arsenal]
Maybe your post did indeed refer to Arsenal, in which case you surely shouldn't have quoted the previous post referring to Southampton?
And in any case, this was a disastrous result for Arsenal, dropping 2 points against the bottom side, when they have Man City chasing them down.

The overall thrust of the post was directed towards a point being beneficial for both, ideally the 3 would have benefited either the most for different reasons, of course I was referring to arsenal with the comment “1-3 down & escaping with a point” it’s impossible for me to be referring to Southampton because at no point in the match were Southampton in that position, arsenal will be happy with a point in the 88th minute & overturning a 2 goal deficit to draw, if you asked a Real Madrid fan would you take a point against Bognor Regis 1-3 down in the 88th minute your hand would be detached from your arm.

I'm not constantly negative. I've enjoyed this season playing teams where I think we can win, which is every game. I'm not looking forward to next season as I just don't see how we can compete with most teams up there. What we saw from Southampton was not something we can currently do.

Some of our players have real talent, especially the loanees, but they do not, perhaps yet, have the strength to cope with the physicality. We see it constantly but the talent has been enough to see us through. If this team were playing in The Prem it's difficult to see how they would cope week in week out with that aspect of the game.
