Does last night avenge that 5-0 loss?
The 5-0 loss at Deadwood has always been used as a stick to beat us clarets with.
Surely last nights events now overshadow that for us and then some. I cannot imagine how that must have felt for the fiddlers. Marvellous.

We still owe them a numerical stuffing. I thought that it was on the cards when we outplayed them at home but alas it was not to be.
But I'm pretty happy with our run against them since Dyche got that first win...! Last night will live very long in the memory

That was our Champions League moment.
Apart from perhaps winning the FA Cup, it doesn’t get any better.

Last night was the final step on the long path to redemption.
The Jack Walker years and them lauding it over us are now a distant memory.
That will have hurt their fans last night and that’s just beautiful!

Yes, I was there and I can remember us singing we’re gonna win 6-5 and Steve Davis looking round and giving us a discerning smile and then applauding us at the end.
Up to yesterday I’d always hoped and imagined we would some day do the same to them.
I was fortunate enough to be their last night, and mark my words that was much much better than I every imagined. Brilliant.

To answer the O.P. yes!
They can call us whatever they want.
They can question our family tree.
They can speculate on the number of digits on each hand.
They can send as many planes over Turf Moor as they wish.
But
They will NEVER live this down.

Re: Does last night avenge that 5-0 loss?
The gap in class back in 2001 was immense, despite us being briefly in the same league and was never more clearly demonstrated and laid bare for all to see than in that 5-0 drubbing which I had the misfortune to witness. Blackburn kids were on the verges showing their bare arses to the coaches as we pulled onto the motorway after the game. My wife came to the game with me that day and was pregnant with what turned out to be our son and as the teams came out and the roar went up, she felt him kick for the very first time. He's now 21 and a massive Clarets fan. How far we have come since then, in his life time, is utterly amazing and was absolutely unthinkable on that awful day.

Yeah
We won the league at Ewood Park
Nothing we are going to do in the future is realistically going to top that

Definitely. That will scar them for a long long time.
They won 5-0 but we've now won six in a row. Has that ever happened in the history of the derby?

Re: Does last night avenge that 5-0 loss?
Yes it does. I was there it was painfull. The 3-0 win at the Turf nearly got the revenge. But last night was just pure magic revenge.

We won the title at their gaff, that'll never be done again for either club. That's it, game over, we win

As their manager said after the game they are in a different place to us. We were back then. Last night certainly helps avenge fatty Dunn’s offside goal.

until I read the title of this thread I can hand on heart say for the first time playing them I hadn't even thought about that result, so for me yes it's done. In your own back yard boys!

Re: Does last night avenge that 5-0 loss?
It may have been 22 years ago, but I still shudder at the very thought of anything and everything about that 5-0. However, from this day on, in any unfortunate moment where it fleets into my mind, I can now immediately visualise that moment of pure beauty when Benson's peach rippled their net to win the Championship title on their patch.
There's no room for any more icing on this cake, but a cherry on top would be if we are also able to reflect on how last night we also hammered a particularly large nail into their coffin with regard to any dwindling hopes of scraping into the play-offs.

Also 2 of the games were at leamington rd not ewood. I believe though it’s the first time a side has lost 4 times straight at home. And in addition i think were now plus 3 ahead in victories out of the 106 time we have played each other
