Benson
What a player. Envious eyes on him, no doubt.
Can we keep hold of him?

I love him.
Inter, Dortmund and Marseille linked today.
Listened to a podcast from him recently and he said he’s always dreamed of playing in the Prem and watched MOTD as a youngster. He stays.

Re: Benson
I’m 36, by rights I should not have a ‘favourite player’.
He is though.
Loved him all season, he’s absolute dynamite. The type of player you dream of playing for your club. Makes things happen, scores worldies out of nowhere. Wow. What a ******* player.

I know it doesn't matter but if that effort would have gone in at the end, what a way to bring the house down.
I wonder if he actually realises what he's done?
He's put himself down in Burnley folklore.

Re: Benson
The opposition know what he's going to do when he gets the ball (i.e. cut inside and whip it in to the far post) but they can't stop it.

Quite ill atm but when Benson scored I couldn't help but shout out causing a bit of pain in my stomach.
Also we are in our Philippines hotel and it was about 4.30am so maybe I startled and woke up one or two other guests.

Re: Benson
He’s a proper, proper footballer.
He’s like a Championship (now Premier League) cross between Coutinho and Messi.
He makes the step up no problem in my opinion.

Re: Benson
BTW even though he's not played as much as others he's clinched player of the season for me on pure talent alone.

Reminds me of Mahrez who Leicester got for £500k in France. Just shows how good VK is at unearthing talent like him, Beyer Al Dakhill (brilliant tonight), Cullen and a few more

Re: Benson
I think he doesn’t start because he seems a bit more subdued when he does. Difficult to say he’s not a ninety minute man but he seems much better coming on in the second half with his speed when the opposition are tiring.Royboyclaret wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 10:14 pmHow does he not start on the the pitch ??????

I've never celebrated a goal by bursting out laughing before. Doing that for the third consecutive game was just ridiculous.

Re: Benson
In football, in all the time I’ve ever watched there have been many “one-trick ponies” but some of them have a trick that is so good it’s completely unplayable.
We’ve got one of them.

I agree, he reminds me so much of mahrez against us, you know exactly what he’s going to do, cut inside on his left and shoot but it’s one thing knowing it and another thing stopping it!

Quite a few of our players are in that bracket though, and if they all "click" then we will have some team

Re: Benson
He looked talented, but lightweight early season. The steady improvement since then has been incredible. Has surpassed Annas as our main threat. He is always going to be small, and he plays at top speed often, so I wouldn't want, or expect him to be 90 mins a game. He needs to be well managed, I'm sure VK will use him wisely.

Re: Benson
My mate made the excellent suggestion that Sky , or someone, should put together a cricket style graphic showing the trajectory and speed of each of the versions of “that goal” he has scored this season. Would be great to see.
In any event to score it three times in consecutive games in just 8 days is almost unbelievable !! Last night’s version has to be goal of the season given the context I think.
