Josh Brownhill with trophy - VK apologises

Post by Ightenhill_Claret » Wed Apr 26, 2023 5:39 pm

Spotted this last night on the Sky Sports coverage and now a vid has made it onto Twitter - Josh Brownhill lifting the trophy in front of a baying mob of Rovers fans in the Riverside Stand.

What the clip doesn't show is VK telling Browny to stop it and then apologising to the Rovers fans. Obviously Brownhill was doing it as a bit of banter but I thought it showed a true measure of the man VK is with his reaction - we've won it in their back yard, enjoy the moment but let's not ram it down their throat.

Utter class again from our Gaffer!

Think you can look at this 2 ways tbh. The players getting dogs abuse for 90 minutes and then giving some back. Barnesy was laughing at the fans in the JW stand by the corner flag in injury time also. I don’t mind it at all. We’ve had it for years even when Garner scored for other clubs against us, for example. Fair play to Vinnie for the apology also but that in itself made it funnier in a way.

We have had it from players at clubs where we have no real rivalry, for example, when Wilson scored the pen for Newcastle that helped send us down last season he had to give some to the Jimmy Mac. This in a game where he was getting next to no stick from the crowd when he scored a goal with virtually no meaning for his own club, whilst helping relegate ours. You get players like Vardy acting like a two year old pretty much whenever he scores too.

What goes around comes around I think.

They waited behind after the game just to give us grief, but cried when someone held up an inflatable toy. It’s glorious

Can you imagine if they had won the league and Dunn was there, Brownhill was restrained. Screw apologizing, NNN

He wasn’t apologising to the fans he was telling the steward to calm down and he would sort it.

Not being funny but that's a massive part of football. I love it when Vardy scores and gives some to the opposition fans, doesn't seem to matter who it is. I like to think if I was lucky enough to be a player I'd be cupping my ears and finger on lips left right and centre.

Don’t get me wrong - I loved seeing Browny giving them some, just thought it was a touch of class from Kompany and exactly what we’ve come to expect from him.

The video of Foster getting abuse from some Rovers fans and then celebrating the final whistle is equally ace!

Just like to point out that it wasn't the real trophy, it was a toy inflatable plastic replica. Bit like the fans really.

I agree with both parts, but it annoys me when football fans give it out, with insulting language, hand gestures and vulgar insults, but as soon as a footballer gives some playful banter back, it's the footballer who is punished.

I think this was the risk when we won at Deadwood. It seems the fans can what they like to us during and after the match but Josh cant get a little back. Fair play by me. What about those 2 idiots at our dug out calling them c***s and all sorts with no re action. Wish Kompany big assistant had gicven them both a clip round the ear. Eye for an eye maybe. Super Josh.
