Frank Lampard…

Re: Frank Lampard…
Lampard just didn't take enough time to develop as a manager quite simply.
He was ill equipped to handle Chelsea, twice, and Everton.
He needed to spend more time learning his craft

Have you seen the team he trotted out tonight? They’d be better with no manager than Frank. CluelessGodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2023 9:57 pmLampard just didn't take enough time to develop as a manager quite simply.

As above. Tuchel sacked, Potter sacked, Frank useless but the players still collect mega-salaries.

Never said that but come on. Simplify things a bit maybe don't play weird formations and trot Kante out as a second striker?welsbyswife wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2023 10:06 pmThe players on the other hand are doing a great job and remain completely blameless.

Of course he's clueless, I'm not arguing about that, but as I said he never took the time to develop as a manager.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2023 10:02 pmHave you seen the team he trotted out tonight? They’d be better with no manager than Frank. Clueless
However that Chelsea squad is disjointed, dispirited etc and he's only a temp manager so the players aren't going to "leave it all on the field" for him.
The next manager has a lot of work to do, even the lauded Poch, so that's going to be interesting to watch.

Fair - it is pretty insane that he got the Chelsea gig on the back of finishing 6th with Derby in the Champ tbh...GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2023 10:14 pmOf course he's clueless, I'm not arguing about that, but as I said he never took the time to develop as a manager.

I'm saying pick an XI with square pegs in square holes and simplify it.
If his players are tossing it off big time and he thinks it's because he's only interim then he should bury them - be interesting to see if their running stats/sprints recorded are down

all i'm saying is it would be good if a young british manager was given a bit of time. maybe not frank at chelsea at this time but the merrygo-round of footy managers is so bloody trivial.

Fairly sure we could set Chelsea up better than frank has in the last few games. It’s like he’s trying to commit managerial suicide.Did they even have an attacker on the pitch against Real Madrid the other week when they were getting beat from the first leg?awful manager.

Surely this will be his last gig at any reasonable level.

Kepa, James, Silva, Fofana, Chalobah, Cucurella, Kovacic, Kante, Fernandez, Gallagher, Havertz.
Pathetic line up when you are 2 down from the first leg.

Cucurella is Absolute pants!! His curly Locks and fake tears got him noticed when scoring for Brighton one day. Chelsea paid £65 Million....£65 Million!!!! For a former Barcelona reserve team player.

Frank should have stayed with Derby but he saw the pound signs and left.
Re: Frank Lampard…
I don’t think he did that much of a good job at Derby. Made the play offs but so did the manager the year before without being able to borrow premier league players from his mates.

Frank is a very poor manager. Can you imagine VK with the opportunities that bloke has had? Frank was poncing about doing keepy uppys in a training session I saw the other day. The ultimate all about me personality and you can really see why players can’t buy into him or his methods.

Re: Frank Lampard…
He finished with a point less than the previous seasons manager, so he didn't do that a job, but the media love in ignored that.
Re: Frank Lampard…
Not for much longer. The chairman has said they will all need to take a massive cut next year, due to not being in the Champions League. That probably isn't helping with morale either.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Wed Apr 26, 2023 10:07 pmAs above. Tuchel sacked, Potter sacked, Frank useless but the players still collect mega-salaries.

A really poor manager.
His body language, and rhetoric are so down beat, he couldn't inflate a balloon.
He is not the first very talented footballer, to show himself to be a poor manager. Its a completely different skill set, and as such needs to be learnt.
You have to look though, at the owners who give him the jobs based on .............. Owners can be completely clueless.

Terrible manager really so far on a results basis.
Re: Frank Lampard…
It is incredible really. In what other industry would you be given a top job with zero experience?? It’s just bizarre and I can see why certain managers who never seem to get a look in with these jobs get so frustrated. Playing and managing are completely different skill sets so why Chelsea wanted Lampard as manager the first time around having done nothing at Derby is mind blowing.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Thu Apr 27, 2023 10:24 amA really poor manager.

Second time around, Chelsea would have been better off sticking with Potter until at least the end of the season instead of bring Lampard back! Strange club, so poorly run.
Re: Frank Lampard…
Was reading about Potter earlier today. Regardless of what happened at Chelsea you have to respect a man who started preparing his management career by obtaining an Open University degree, worked at Hull Uni as Football Development Manager. Then he worked with the Ghana women's team. First club job: Ostersund in Sweden's D4.
The man will get back with a club more suited to sensible planning and giving him time. Not many clubs like that I know. Palace might be one though.

Not Potter, if the worst happens and we lose Kompany we should 100% go for Bielsa. Our team is practically ready-made for him, and he commands instant respect.

Kompany the inheritor of Pep, Pep the inheritor of Bielsa. All three share the same overarching football philosophy. Most natural fit for what we're building, and there were rumours when Dyche left that we were interested.

Clever enough to turn down Everton, too, so he's got his wits about him. (Bielsa, that is)

For what it’s worth when/if Kompany leaves I’d take a punt on someone like a Will Still.
Potter is great and all but there’s great managers out there all the time - I’m really impressed by Still’s background and application

Re: Frank Lampard…
Aye, brilliant that was. Insane if you're an Everyon fan, but it comes across as top banter: "soz, can't do owt with this shite". I genuinely admire the balls on him to even suggest that. Absolute polar opposite of a chancer. Adored at every club he's ever managed, too.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Thu Apr 27, 2023 11:24 pmOffered to coach the U21s till summer when he would take over which I thought was absolutely brilliant tbh
A proper purist
Re: Frank Lampard…
Saw Will Still on a coaches' voice episode on youtube, and while he seems very tactically thoughtful, he comes across as totally uninspiring on a personality level. In fairness that video is all I've heard from him so he might be more energetic around his players, I don't know. I genuinely think you need a bit of charisma about you to truly succeed in footy (Kompany is overflowing with it, even Dyche has it in a different way), and to bring this back to the thread topic to use as an example, Lampard looks like he's always about to burst into tears. That's got to rub off badly on the players.
