What a great day
The sun is shining
My boys had a brilliant last game of the season with a 3-1 win and now this news
Definitely calls for a beer to celebrate

Re: VK Contract
That's the insurance in place if he was poached but also increases the amount of any severance packages the other way around, I can't remember many people complaining when dyche extended people were actually worrying he wouldn't it was that protracted but when he did go it was all about the length offered & criticism aimed.Rileybobs wrote: ↑Sun May 07, 2023 4:52 pmFantastic news. The reality is that it will likely just mean more compo when he does eventually leave, and maybe this will make him slightly less desirable for other clubs. But crucially it almost certainly means he will be at the helm next season and that he thinks he will be given the tools to keep us up.

BBC Sport report on this states it comes 2 days after the transfer embargo was lifted.
Hadn't seen anything on that situation for a while so I'm guessing the accounts have been filed ?

I think it tells us a couple of things. Alan Pace has big plans for Burnley. VK believes he can do great things with little ol' Burnley and is happy to be here and is up for the fight to prove the critics and media experts wrong.

Re: VK Contract
I wonder how long it is going to be before someone spoils an otherwise positive thread by being negative about someone who hasn't been negative yet....!
You could turn it into a movie starring Tom Cruise 'The Minority Forum' - where the thought police constantly peruse the ether looking for someone who has the potential to be negative in the future but hasn't been yet...!
Then one day Tom Cruise thinks 'what if VK turns out to be sh*t in the PL' and has to spend 90 minutes avoiding his own colleagues who hunt him down to a cul-de-sac near Scott Park and accuse him of being a non-believer'. Found guilty our hero has to spend 1 year filling poo bags in the Park.
The script is unfolding in my mind. Actually, I'm thinking Ryan Reynolds or someone even bigger JJ Watt.
Anyway, as far as it goes it's fantastic news albeit I'm not sure how interesting it is to read a thread that says fantastic news 500 times.

What a week its been. What a season. The documentary, the transfer embargo lifted and now VK signing a new deal all before tomorrow's finale. Can't wait, celebrations have started already. Does it get any better than this?

Re: VK Contract
If you read between the lines though you have to wonder why he did not sign a 7 year contract ?
It’s got to be either VK is already in early talks with Spurs, West Ham and Chelsea or as many of have already suspected the club is up for sale.

Robbie Williams is a big fan of the Vale.
He has offered to do a charity concert and donate all the cash raised towards signing VK.
So that’s a tenner they have in the kitty already.

Thanks DC, Alan Pace signing Vincent Kompany as manager ticked the "exciting times" box for me. A new 5 year contract is exciting times added to exciting times.

We need a "stop quivering, you bloody melt" sub-board where the negativity police have no authority; where people — grown adults, remember — can't go to teacher asking for threads to be closed for it blowing on their fragile, unsteady happiness.

Re: VK Contract
Shame I think VK is wearing a City scarf in that pic.
But the news is undoubtedly the best possible start to the closed season. No players second guessing whether to join because VK may move before the new season.
Re: VK Contract
I think that’s a huge part of the new contract. Two maybe three years (for me it all depends on Pep and the Champions League) with us, and ensures we get compensation from City when he goes.
The rumours about town of another big investor seems to be ringing true. VK must know exactly what the plan is financially for the squad and more importantly he must be happy with it.
Re: VK Contract
There was talk of investment from East Asia at the back end of last season, and I think Pace alluded to it (or did he state it outright?) that the likely possibility of relegation gave them cold feet or something? If that rumour is true I wonder if it's the same people?

It's brilliant news that's he signed, I think all this man city malarkey that he's the natural heir to peps throne is far fetched nobody even knows how well he'll get on next season that's the acid test.

Re: VK Contract
Really is the cherry on the icing on the cake.
Those saying “it is just a pay rise” don’t know how these things work.
All the terms will have been renegotiated. Release clauses, relegation causes and (probably) informally a commitment to transfer budgets. Compensation will now be based on PL wages so I would be surprised if a side like Spurs could afford him (I expect City to maybe be a condition of the contract to allow him to go there if offered, but for obvious reasons we would never find out). Because of all this stuff, managers and clubs and players have certainty - e.g. Pep may now feel he can loan us a top player, or sell us one with a buy back option, players at other clubs may feel confident to come.
This is top, top news. The best news in 10 months. There simply isn’t a downside even if some folk will try to find one.

Tremendous news
Re: VK Contract
There's be a pitch invasion if we got them tapped up on the pitch before kickoff against Cardiff. Match would never take place. 0-3 forfeit. Worth it though.
