Don't blame it on coke. I shared some at half time and didn't go on the pitch

The problem is when those fans return to the stands, they do not go back to their seats. Instead they are in the gangways, and in other peoples seats at the front, today standing on chairs blocking the view of other supporters while creating overcrowding at the front of the stand. This has been the case when people go to the front at the end of games most games this season to hold up signs to the players, but on a smaller scale.

Once upon a time it was a spontaneous act of joy, acceptable. Since the novelty wore of and it became pre meditated, it's a boring activity by those who fail to realise how sad they now look.
Similarly when you happened to have a drink in your hand when a goal is scored and it leaves your grasp as you raise your hands in celebration, acceptable. Purposely throwing your drink in the air when a goal is scored, sad. Too many guilty of attempting to recreate an act of spontaneity when it clearly isn't,. It's like telling jokes that are decades old and thinking you're funny. Everyone knows what's coming and can't believe you're still going ahead with it totally oblivious to how you look.

Running on the pitch was - sort of - accepted as an end of season tradition back in the previous century, but for all sorts of reasons including player safety it's been correctly banned for years.
I seem to recall that we've had a number of incidents including assaults on players in the past.
But apart from anything else it simply spoils the moment for the vast majority.

Not really read through this thread, but anyone who went on the pitch today looked like a massive bell end.

It's the equivalent of telling a 3 year old to not open the box or not press the red button

Benson.
Indeed, let kids be kids.
Young uns tend to be inventive and come up with something new, something different that identifies their generation and sets them apart from those who went before them, not succumbing to the influence of their elders because they think it's great. Proper sad.

Anyone justifying the idiots running on the pitch today are nearly as bad as them, how many times was it announced that the pitch was for the players ,haven’t a brain cell between them, its not a case of not wanting people to celebrate, what would have happened at Deadwood if their fans ran on the pitch when we’d just won the league ,some people need to give their heads a wobble.

Good idea, let the kids (and grown up kids) have their bit of fun.

So you don't consider it important that children should obey clear and repeated instructions?
There are lots of things in life that might be considered fun but are expressly forbidden.

It's not permitted and was made clear.
The vast majority understand, accept and agree with this.
Children should be taught by parents to accept and follow rules - even if they don't like them.

The club will now have a repair bill they wouldn’t have had, for a start. Roy Oldfield (long time Burnley groundsman), used to go mad. It costs thousands after every pitch invasion… and that was in the mid 90’s.

To run on like sheep, with literally nowhere to go. There was no release, it was done and dusted. Mindless.

Pitch invasions are brilliant when they are spontaneous celebrations. This wasn’t.

People are just plain selfish. They run on the pitch because they want to and that is all that concerns them. Their whole lives are probably based on looking after number one and having no thought for anyone else. Sad.

There’s no pint them lining up along the full length of the longside if they weren’t going to even attempt to stop them running on.

What they should have done with those that ran on was stop them returning to their seats and shepherd them out of the stadium via the JM/JH corner
I said they should have kicked them out. Might have caused a riot though.

Nearly kicked off where I was. Some were stopping kids from going on and the parents were giving them grief. Dad said he would go on after the presentation and would plant the woman on his way on. Good way to show your kids how to behave. Language was f f f all the time as well.

At the end of the day you risk being banned. They only need to pick a few to make examples of them.

Yes - I have. Way back in the previous century.
Deepdale in 1973 and Orient game in 1987, but as myself and others have pointed out these were different times. It wasn't officially allowed, but it was tolerated and I don't think there were any specific ground rules that mentioned lifetime bans etc for encroachment.
There were (e.g.) iconic scenes when there was a spontaneous pitch invasion in parkas at Edgar St when Hereford famously beat Newcastle.
Yesterday wasn't spontaneous, and was against the rules, and has been for many years now. It was repeatedly announced as such.
One of the reasons that we got fences around the pitch perimeter penning fans in was to prevent such behaviour.
Most of us have moved on.

That's not the case at all, as I clearly explained. The situation and rules were completely different.
And - for clarity - I've never run onto a pitch. In 1973, my dad took me on the pitch when there were already about 3,000 others on, and in 1987 I entered the pitch very carefully with a very young son, long after the rush.
But as I pointed out. This was a totally different era. People used to urinate on the terraces in those days.
