Milan Derby

Post by Childzy » Wed May 10, 2023 7:59 pm

Should be an exciting game but serious question, how do they handle the ground share?

Do AC get a bigger allocation for this game as the ‘home’ team and Inter will get more next week?

I think that's exactly it

Anyhow, good job they've got rid of away goals in the CL now

Unbelievable stadium
And set to be demolished in the name of greater club profits.
The San Siro is an iconic ground, I always think of it as THE cathedral of Italian football. It'll be a travesty when they knock it down.

It looks an odd one, on face value.

I think that the new ground is to have a capacity of 60,000. Both clubs average over 70,000.

Corporate will bring more revenue but why cut off a significant chunk of the support that you get at games?

Went last season. It's a stunning place. From the outside. The inside, the toilets and the concourse, is pretty poor for 2023 and I saw few if any corporate boxes which clubs like Inter and AC need.

Both clubs want to move and although I totally agree with you about it being a cathedral, it seems a new ground is more likely than a renovation.

At one point it looked like it was to be knocked down but not so sure now.

Iconic stadium but was in there in 2006 and it was a dump.

Both teams pay a huge amount of rent to the local council in Milan. Sure I heard it was £20m a year or something like that.
Apparently the politics around this and the potential loss of income to the council is the main stumbling block to the clubs getting together to build a new ground

I’m not sure how many free kicks were given tonight but it must have been a lot.

AC Milan were very poor. Inter will be disappointed the tie isn’t over.

Napoli are a miles better side than these two. Just hit a bad run of form at the worst possible time.
