Still got Egan Riley and Bobby Thomas as well as McNally. Not like we are short in this area. Might be deemed not good enough for the Prem but I am sure they will have been watched and be given a chance in the early part of pre season to show their worth.

He’ll have other clubs after him for sure, hopefully he loves us and Vinny and won’t go anywhere else. Wishful thinking I know

Would much rather Michy the Batsman than this Becker from Germany, 15mil and Burnley, Fulham, West Ham, wolves seems to be the standard for most stories this summer

Augsburg paid $18 Mil for Pepi, which I thought was staggering, presumably they’ll want at least that back. I’m a big fan of Cade Cowell but I don’t think he’d get a WP yet and I’d like to see him tested against better players first ( this is where Tajon has stalled somewhat)ClaretFelix wrote: ↑Sat May 13, 2023 6:31 amWould love Buchanan, would give some real competition for either flank and has European experience in Belgium.
I'd chuck in Ricardo Pepi's name in too. Been relegated at Groningen but by all accounts acquitted himself well in his loan spell from Augsburg and widely tipped to leave with PSV monitoring him.
There's a few over in the MLS worth looking at, is it worth a punt for Cade Cowell from San Jose? His form wasn't great last season after bursting onto the scene as a 17 year old, but he's earned a call up to the USA squad lately. He's an absolute unit for 19 and rapid, so could provide options across the frontline

Cowell has been up and down a bit back end of last season, not sure he knows his true position.CharlieinNewMexico wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 6:19 pmAugsburg paid $18 Mil for Pepi, which I thought was staggering, presumably they’ll want at least that back. Another one from MLS, probably out of our reach financially as I think he's destined for bigger clubs than us, Thiago Almada from Atlanta Utd. World Cup winner with Argentina but only made his senior debut for them in the warm ups I think. That central attacking midfield area is where we could do with someone.
Hany Mukhtar from Nashville and Sebastian Driussi at Austin Fc both play there and have European experience

RE Ekdal pace situation Sir Bobby Moore was no racehorse and he did quite well in the game.

It’s an easy link to make but it makes sense in so many ways. Not sure how much he’d be on at Arsenal though.

to be fair to Arsenal fans half of them walked out the other night and probably want Arteta out (again). If there was one group of fans on planet earth I wouldn't listen to it would be Arsenal

Highly rated by Kompany so won’t be a surprise if we sign him.

But neither of those are capable of playing in a high line back fourarise_sir_charge wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 3:58 pmEkdal getting ‘burnt’ by Pukki is a myth.
He was essentially wrong footed by a pass that wasn’t actually aimed at Pukki. He recovered reasonably well.
I’m not saying Ekdal is lightening quick, he isn’t (Al Dhakil is by the way) but he’s certainly no slower than Mee or Tarks and they did fine.
Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
I meant Mee and Tark btw I like Ekdal

They’ve been scathing and I don’t think he’s played much at all for Palace. The question is whether he’s good enough for the Prem. I thought he looked great when we played Arsenal last year, but have watched him since & he’s looked cumbersome and slow. Hopefully Vinny could revive him if true.

Re: Summer transfer window 2023 - rumours, links and discussion.
There's a player in Lokonga make no mistake.
He's a proper footballer and a good athlete who has lost a bit of confidence and form and is a bit hesitant as a result. That's why he looks slow and hesitant.
He's not fitted a Hodgson team at Palace, but put him in a Kompany team, and as importantly alongside his mate from Anderlecht Josh Cullen, and I'm pretty sure we'd have a very good player. Players thrive where they feel comfortable and confident.

One can only hope, same as summer and Jan I don't think I've hardly heard of any players linked, let alone seen them play! I didn't know one player VK brought in through two windows, including S Twine, but he seems to have done quite well IMO, so this time round I'll only comment on players I actually know of and have seen play at some point

VK certainly unearthed some absolute gems during the past two windows and I’m sure the next window will be similar. There’ll be some surprises undoubtedly.KateR wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 11:58 pmOne can only hope, same as summer and Jan I don't think I've hardly heard of any players linked, let alone seen them play! I could see that. Solid player in the deep role. Probably on a free? Fits our recruit from smaller nations bc they get a WP model. Adds experience when we have a bunch of young guns. I could see that?Grimsdale wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 3:39 amBelgian press linking us with defensive midfielder Gojko Cimirot from Standard

Lokonga and Cimirot would certainly give us some physicality that a few posters have identified as a weakness

More evidence that Kompany & co know really what they're doing
They know the areas we need to address and will do
Have every faith in our current recruitment

Let’s not forget this is the guy that VK publicly said is the next Yaya Toure. He clearly sees there is raw talent there.claretspice wrote: ↑Tue May 16, 2023 10:10 pmThere's a player in Lokonga make no mistake.

Elanga to be sold by United this summer - if he was cheap enough would you take him?

May be wrong ,but I can’t think of many players that have come directly from Utd ,and have been a success for us,possibly Eagles.Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 12:06 pmElanga to be sold by United this summer - if he was cheap enough would you take him?

Sambi Lokonga looks exactly what we need.
I wonder what he would cost? Arsenal must be expecting to make a loss on him.

VK will know all the details, which is helpful. I imagine it’d be heavily incentivised so possibly not as much as we think for Arsenal to break even. And they may even be willing to take a loss just to get him off the books.burnley007 wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 12:52 pmSambi Lokonga looks exactly what we need.

Don’t get me wrong he has been brilliant for us, but nobody can be serious when they say they’d play Cullen ahead of that midfield 3.
It ain’t happening anyway as JWP is destined for a top 6 club I think
