More on Lokonga
Looks good on the old youtube-highlight thingy........sprays it around with aplomb.
I think he would be expensive.

Undav seems to be getting decent game time and doing well with it, would Brighton actually want to sell? Because we’re never going to be paying FU money to force transfer through from other prem teams. Maybe if he’s getting game time so to put him in the shop window then we’ve got a good chance but even so, Brighton aren’t going to / don’t need to sell players on the cheap. I just don’t see how it fits in with our recent transfer policy

Brighton have just signed pedro from Watford for big money so you’d imagine he’s their number one striker in the summer

He was at Bolton not Barnsley last week for play off first leg then at Arsenal day after . Yes he could be watching Bobby but I imagine he won't be with us next season in the premier League, regarding Trafford he's a young up and coming 20 year old GK who as done well for Bolton.

Fingers crossed we can get some sort of buy out fee included. If Lokonga has a good season for us next year he'd be very hard to sign permanently after that I would have thought.

That’s almost like saying why does Southgate every go to watch any England players live

Of course he’s going to watch players contracted to the club if he has chance to

Could just as easily be checking out the opposition for next season. He'll pick up a lot more from being there, than watching on the telly.
New challenges, will require tweaks to the tactics, and enhance his opinion of where we need to upgrade.

I can't see us chasing a keeper, unless BPF is off, which would be a great shame. He has the quality, and experience, that is hard to buy.

I disagree personally, I think we need much better back up goalkeeper or someone to really rival Muric.

Don't get my wrong BPF is alright but I never feel fully at ease with him between the sticks.

He definitely doesn't have the experience for me. I think a move for BPF might be beneficial for both parties. I think we'll bring another young keeper in.

And, although it goes against the grain of the transfer policy, I think there's a lot to be said for an 'old head' keeper in and around the group, even if it's 3rd choice.

Just my personal opinion , BFF may have the experience but not good enough for a No 2 keeper in the PL. All the current PL sides have excellent No 2's and in some cases excellent third choice too. In many cases those number two's have come in and performed well this season when called on ie Iverson, Steele

We are chasing a keeper and everyone AND their mum knows Bailey is off. He deserves to be a championship number 1 and to put it simply does not have the quality with his feet.

2nd choice 'keeper with plenty of PL experience would be my preference.
BPF could choose to play regularly, probably at Championship level.

That's a different question all together, I wouldn't want to hold him back if he has ambitions. He played a fair number of games last season, and never let us down once. Having a solid back up, with experience is difficult to find, and wouldn't come cheap.

Hes not solid. We will go for a young backup to compete and push Muric. Ala Verbruggen and all the others we have been linked with.

The Lokonga one would be perfect if we could negotiate a loan with an obligation to buy if we stay up, at the quoted £15m ish price . That way it frees up funds to strengthen in other areas this summer and gets Kompany a player he wants .

Regarding goalkeepers, it wouldn't shock me if we signed two this summer (e.g. Verbruggen AND Trafford).

I can see BPF leaving - he really needs to be playing every week at this stage in his career which will create some room and a requirement for someone to come in and push Muric.

Plus you really need 3 goalkeepers in a 25 man Premier League squad.

This year's PL relegation battle is proving very close, with a number of clubs having been involved until recently, now down to 5. I am certain next season will prove no different. Its going to be challenging but possible for Burnley to stay up. However with our relative shortage of funds compared to a number of richer and established clubs, two things are vital. Firstly we minimise the number of goal keeping gaffs, and Muric needs to have serious competition, as he did give us kittens in the early part of the season. Peacock Farrell is not the answer-he played against Man City which I went to, and I believe with a good keeper we could have kept it to 3-0. His decision making that day was poor. Secondly we need a proven goal scorer, with a good record of goals v appearances, and not someone needing 5 or 6 chances or more to score. Of course CM is a major priority but slipping in goals one end and not scoring at the other end are the quickest way of getting relegated.

Loan manager and u21s coach but all of pre season Bobby Thomas was with the senior team so to me it would make sense for the first team manager and the loan manager to both be present watching an on loan player

Don’t think it’s that difficult

Loan manager and u21s coach but all of pre season Bobby Thomas was with the senior team so to me it would make sense for the first team manager and the loan manager to both be present watching an on loan player

Don’t think it’s that difficult
i totally agree.

i imagine they will continue with Franchi as 3rd choice.
Maybe they will.

But if, for example, they sign Trafford, I can’t see him coming in as the new number 2 keeper behind Muric immediately.

And Franchi has had mixed reviews in his U21 matches this season - sometimes excellent but other times very suspect.

Just saying it’s very possible and it wouldn’t surprise me.

Rumoured to be linked with Torino's Yann Karamoh, a left winger. Competition for Annas?

Well Muric is under contract until 2026 so he’d cost them a lot of money and I don’t think Turkish clubs have that kind of cash?

The Lokonga one would be perfect if we could negotiate a loan with an obligation to buy if we stay up, at the quoted £15m ish price . That way it frees up funds to strengthen in other areas this summer and gets Kompany a player he wants .
Yes, I think this would be perfect, albeit I’d prefer to have an option vs obligation in case he doesn’t make the grade. I agree with others that there is a player in there but he hasn’t really shown it at Arsenal or Palace so it is a bit of a risk if he went all Dervisoglu on us!

I’m pretty sure he was watching Thomas if he was there with Charlie Adam.

Not sure when Thomas’ contract is up with us but he always looked very good to me in the Prem and a constant goal threat too. If possible I’d like to see him get a loan to the Championship team next season.

As an aside, I’m hugely impressed with how hard Kompany is STILL working. He could be getting well deserved break on a beach but he’s still scouting out loanees and potential targets. Reminds me a lot of Ferguson in how he does that personally. Hope he gets a break before pre-season starts though!

Is it worth putting in a cheeky bid for Aplomb as well, sounds like they play well off one another.
I think we'll only get Chuba Aplomb if Middlesbrough don't go up.
