Its also realistic and I would be happy with 9 from the first 9 looking at the teams. That's why we need a good period before Christmas plenty of opportunity's there for points. Please tell me where you think we'll get more than 9 points from the opening 9? Or do you think we'll walk the league?

Re: ARTICLE: Treble winners and Sky at Burnley on opening night
I think it's largely pointless predicting games we will pick up points from, as we're all doing so based on our historical experience of this league (mainly the Dyche era of course).Conroy92 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 15, 2023 9:24 amIts also realistic and I would be happy with 9 from the first 9 looking at the teams. We have a team who play in a completely different way to any of the teams that we have previously deployed in this division, and have no real idea how Kompany's tactical game will play out against these sides. City are a freak of nature, so I will (personally) discount that game from my mind, I always do. I wouldn't put it past us to beat any of the other teams at home in the right circumstances because we create a lot of chances, are comfortable retaining possession and the manager is someone who will demand that we attack regardless of the opposition. What has gone before is almost useless to analyse with because of how different we are.

Bit of a kick in the teeth for those with young kids who had to miss so many home matches last season due to them being moved to Friday nights only to have the same happen again opening weekend.
I purposely delayed our holiday until after the first 2 match day weekends so that my lad could see the first match at home. Now he will miss the first 2.

Re: ARTICLE: Treble winners and Sky at Burnley on opening night
First 5 home games vs teams likely to finish in the top 7 (assuming Villa do a repeat).
But history (not just ours) tells us you are better getting these teams early. Two have new managers. One is hung over. One is having a major overhaul.
The only downside is there isn’t a World Cup. City will get a big break of over a month off before training restarts even though Kompany will have us flying with our extended summer. Were there a World Cup Pep would rest players against us, now I reckon it will be full throttle.
The other good thing is that even if we lose a lot early on we won’t be far adrift and will have winnable games to come. The season after that feels quite evenly spread.

A beautiful volley after a clearance by some bloke called Vincent Kompany.

Really annoying that our first away game is Luton. They'll be well up for it. I was hoping to play them after they'd been pumped a few times
Re: ARTICLE: Treble winners and Sky at Burnley on opening night
Made me laugh out loud there

My post was flawed though, I had it in mu head that Liverpool were the opening home fixture that season, but it was the second. I was getting confused with first goals of the season.

It must be a possibility. It will be a strange coincidence if our first away game is switched to the Turf again, as it was with Liverpool.Barlickclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jun 15, 2023 9:56 amI might have missed it, but could we play 1st 4 games at home with Luton not being ready.

Tony, you're still having trouble with your seasons!!
In the article, you've headed the list of fixtures 2021-22.
Let's hope the end result is different this coming season.

This was a cut and paste issue - I'd set the article up last week ready to fill in the games, never considered the heading at the top of them. All corrected now.lakedistrictclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jun 15, 2023 10:07 amTony, you're still having trouble with your seasons!!

Well I assume that having 3 and possibly 4 home games during the school holidays is quite a negative if you've shelled out for a family ticket and could now miss several games due to holidays.arise_sir_charge wrote: ↑Thu Jun 15, 2023 9:07 amI’ll be honest, I don’t understand by 3 of the first 4 being at home is a negative.
I'm retired so will now plan my holidays around the fixtures, (so far as is possible with TV switches), but a lot of people could now miss two or three games rather than the odd one.
