You may be correct as he will fill the quota (similar to Scott Carson at city. However you shouldn’t assume anything with Goalkeepers, this bloke did his schooling at Spurs and Liverpool so could turn out to be like Heaton who was also signed from the lower leagues

Redmond might be "Free" but he wants 40k a week wages, no thanks123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Tue Jun 20, 2023 6:39 pmSurely nobody turning their nose up at potentially Redmond and maitland-niles both on frees, that would be top business for the squad

40k will be on the lower end of our squad average I would reckon

A forward who has only scored 44 goals in his entire career goals of nearly 400 games. Not for me.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 20, 2023 8:24 pmSounds about right for someone of his age and experience

For me I would rather AMN and redmond are coming off the bench than bastien and darko.

Vigoroux will probably need a No 3, and we will need him if one of our top two keepers gets injured. Dont forget Muric missed a few games through different injuries this year, and I recall he came off in games several times. I expect another keeper will come in soon, but you need three in your 25 man squad

Maybe not, but a 29 year old , who has played most of his career in the Premier League, and is on a free transfer, is going to be wanting that sort of money at the very leastroperclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 20, 2023 9:16 pmA forward who has only scored 44 goals in his entire career goals of nearly 400 games. I really think we need to go back to having individual threads to discuss players we’re linked with. Keep the thread that only contains links but get rid of this discussion thread. It attracts the trolls like no other thread and there’s a host of posters ready to bite.

Individual threads per player linked with? We would be into about thread 70 now with the amount of players that have been linked so farPremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 9:07 amI really think we need to go back to having individual threads to discuss players we’re linked with. There’s hardly any squabbling. Someone else jumped into someone’s conversation to accuse them of bickering, which was followed by you saying the thread should be shut and then me replying to tell you that’s a silly idea. This is how threads get detailed - those people calling out ‘bickering’ when people respond with differing views are the biggest culprits.PremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 9:17 amTo make the mods life easier and to improve user experience. I think this is a good idea. If there were a sub-forum created for it, it would keep all of those threads in one place and stop them cluttering up the Bee Hole End.PremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 9:07 amI really think we need to go back to having individual threads to discuss players we’re linked with. I try to avoid this type of conversation but the issue isn’t the different opinion it is the way that opinion is worded. Sometimes it is deliberately written in a manner to wind the original poster up and sometimes it is just the way the poster writes his message I guess it is easy to misconstrue written words. It all makes me laugh if I am honest I don’t get it how can you have an argument with an anonymous individual writing in a message board. just be polite to each other and don’t take anything written in here too serious and most importantly don’t post anything when you are angry, we will all benefit in the end.Rileybobs wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 9:29 amThere’s hardly any squabbling. Trust me, as someone who gets a lot of abuse from a few select posters, this hasn't been abusive
Yes, its annoying at times, but come on, isn't it funny watching people squabble over stuff like this?

Yes I agree and for you and me it is clearly water off a ducks back but not everyone is the same and we all have different triggers. Let’s cheat and try not being rude or dickish and just be polite even if you disagree it isn’t hard to be honest but if you can’t stop yourself for some unknown reason just ignore it the board would run much better that way.
I know that won’t happen but hey we can only buy hope

Always amazed at the lack of self awareness of some posters, by that I mean those that think it’s everyone else but them when they are some of the worst offenders.

Just been told we have made an offer for Ross Barkley.
Makes sense with him being on a free. Must be a low starting offer as he hasn't accepted yet.

I'd forgotten about him to be honest. We seem to be getting linked to free's now though after being linked with very good players earlier on.
Maybe the tactics are to bulk out the squad with frees and are low ball offering plenty to see who accepts?

Remond
Maitland-Niles
Barkley
Great squad players on free transfers (yes I understand wages could be higher end before someone comments on wages)
A bench of Redmond, Barkley and maitland-miles is better than bastien, churlinov and Vitinho imo

I might be in the minority but hypothetically signing Redmond, Barkley and Maitland-Niles on free transfers (yes, large salaries) I see as great business that would significantly improve the depth of the team. You’d think our big spends will be on players we can develop to sell on (I.e, Mikautadze, Tresor, Verbruggen as targets) but a few been there/done it types to aid the younger ones (particularly considering the loss of the likes of Barnes and reduced roles on the pitch of Cork/Taylor and possibly Rodriguez) sounds a wise strategy to me.

Better than the 3 bench options we have that I mentioned, all with plenty of premier league experience that can help the squad and gives us more space to spend the 15mil on 3 or 4 other targetsLancasterclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 10:47 amAre they really any good though?

Kompany is building something special and I would be surprised if he brought in Barkley because he has never struck me as the type that easily gels with his teammates.
