Lauren Laverne, Jo Whiley, Jack Sanders et al have been awful. Gushing over every performance.

Candi Staton, 83, wow!
Re: Glastonbury 2023
Ouch, having presenter-free coverage online is bliss. Presenters make it feel like you're watching a TV show, without it it feels more like being at the festival drifting from stage to stage. To be fair I thought Burnley Ace was talking about the people on this thread. Apologies for my confusion.

Just someone trying to be funny…but got it wrong. He did Father and Son…which was covered in the 90s by Boyzone.Juan Tanamera wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 8:42 pmI haven't seen the Cat Stevens gig yet, which Westlife song did he cover?

Rolling Stones limited coverage to an hour.Spiral wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 8:33 pmSeems Thundercat isn't being shown on TV. Big gap on the BBC's coverage of the Park stage where he's playing, not listed by BBC. Goes straight from Alison Goldfrapp to the headliner Alt-J. It's a shame when artists don't grant permission for TV broadcast. A pyramid stage headliner did that a few years ago, didn't they? U2 or something?

I was Father & Son, which isn't a cover of Boyzone either.

Someone said on the first page of this thread that they’d “take Elton over McCartney any day”. Paul McCartney’s performance last year was out of this world. The same can’t be said of this. But, just to please you, I’ll take another look to see if he’s getting any better.

Re: Glastonbury 2023
Really loving how people are saying several artists are past it, in years they are yes and you would expect a drop in their prime performance, if you expect them to sound as they did say 50 years ago your mad.
But they should be appreciated for what they have given and continue to give.
The criticism of Cat Stevens, Blondie, Axl Rose and now Elton John is laughable really.
Far better perfomances by these legends than one or two bands who have been major disappointments to me.
All about opinions though.

Re: Glastonbury 2023
you don't get to play of the likes of Elton John unless you are TOP notch, he sets such high standards as he should. You can very clearly tell the difference especially in the bands with more experienced players, sound super tight but still have a swing to how they play, just class.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 10:03 pmHe’s got Ray Cooper on percussion too - he’s brilliant. Elton has been brilliant so far, voice is strong for an old geezer.
Surely they busiest the field has been, certainly since before 2000. Camping been taken out the back and side to accommodate this crowd.

Saw Elton at Chesterfield FC when on tour around 6 years ago. Tremendous entertainer-the age profile of the audience that night spanned from teenagers to pensioners which shows what a great entertainer he has been since the seventies
