Yes, but at times it is completely brainless! You’re 180/1, bowlers starting to look a bit ragged, forcing them to revert to the short stuff with 5 fielders on the fence behind the bat and we gift them catching practice by planting it straight down their throats. Ridiculous Cricket!
Would you have posted this if the shot had cleared the ropes?

Just logged in to say this is absolutely pathetic and stupid batting from England. A lesson in how to throw a match away.

Aussies on the back rope, literally on plan D

Pack the leg side and bowl short balls to bait us and we have fell for it hook line and sinker.

Absolutely stupid - you have to rise above this we could easily be 200-1 and in the driving seat… you can’t give the Aussies a sniff when you’re on top!

v

But it didn’t clear the ropes did it! 🤣

Followed by Duckett doing exactly the same thing!!
Here’s the thing, I am up for aggressive, attacking cricket, but there is a time and a place and day two of an Ashes test match when you are still 230 runs behind isn’t it. Attacking or idiotic; everyone has their own opinion, but for me, it’s the latter backed up by the fact we are now 3 down instead of 1 down with Aussies tails well and truly back up.

Insane cricket by root who is so much better than to simply give his wicket away. We love attacking cricket but we also live sensible cricket when it wins the ashes!!!

But it’s basic cricket! It’s not like they have suddenly invented the short ball tactic and we have fallen hook, line and sinker 🤣

I hear what you're saying ....but there are times when you just need to grind the opposition down.
It's only day 2, we should be looking to get a big score & bat for most of tomorrow, instead we're batting like we need 95 from 6 overs.

The worst thing about this is not England's batting, it's having to listen that knobjockey Pietersen on commentary with his non stop drivel. The perfect example of what a mute button was invented for.

You won’t be saying that if we end up being bowled out 100 runs short of their score…… which at this rate is now much more likely.

Good captaincy and field placings by the aussies to get them wickets.
Duckett and Root were only knocking it around the corner for ones, but they kept bringing the fielders closer.

No, but they knew that the batters' egos and belief in their own b*zb*ll hype wouldn't be able to resist.

VAR said he had a finger under the ball. He did but the ball slid along the turf for a good foot which can only have aided him holding on to it.
Not Out for me.

They are, the 3rd umpire said he had fingers underneath the ball straightaway.
It looked very close from the TV angles.

Are you really?

Last week there was 2 threads on here at the same time.
One for the England football team who won 7-0 and received about 20 posts.
The other was the Test thread, since we narrowly lost in an exciting game. About 9 pages worth of what we should have done.

I’ve not seen it but that’s a shocker of an injury if he’s done that. It’s what finished John Walters at Burnley and kept Matty Taylor out for some time.

Brook and stokes have got to go big tomorrow.

We really don’t have much left in the batting line up.

However I think this is perfectly set for a stokes special.
