Help needed - setting up a new Clarets Number

Post by ClaretTony » Fri Jun 30, 2023 1:22 pm

Any ideas how to do this?

Someone wishes to set up a Clarets Number for his young son but it's asking for an email address. His son doesn't have one so he's tried to use his own but it won't allow it because it's already used for his Clarets Number.

Any ideas on how he can do it?

Surely he needs to just to set up an email account on e.g. Gmail.

As has been said just set up an email account for his son ... I would say then once its set up add him to friends and family to sort tickets etc out.

Thats what I did with my late brother (who was a technophobe and didn`t have a computer etc...) to set his up.

So is that the only way of doing it?

Seems that way, that's what other I know have had to do then it can be linked to his Dad's account once set up.

Setting up an email for my son was the only way I could do it.

I just set up an alias account from my own e-mail, so that everything would come to me anyway.

We did it by ringing the ticket office, they set it up using dad's email

If he has an iPhone Tony, there’s a feature where they on entering email addresses they offer you an alias that is directed to yours in any event.

I think it’s that, use a non-claret family members email or set up one for his son.

You can sign up with the same email, just use an alias.
With my Gmail I have several aliases setup like this, it may work different for other email providers.

myemailqdress+hello@gmail.com
Or
myemailqdress.hello@gmail.com

Adding a + or . before a custom number or text means any emails will be sent to the original address before the + or .

It's very useful in this scenario, but also for spam management.

I set one up in emails with the ticket office, stating I wanted to use my email.
They sorted it straight away.

But someone on here got refused off the ticket office stating they need to set the email address up.

Think it's just pot luck with who you deal with.

Partner and I use one gmail address for both of us. We were recently asked to supply separate emails for security reasons by a company that we both use. Didn't want to open another email address, so it we were told that if we added "+name" to the joint email address, it would still work and emails would be sent to the one account. E.g usual address is smith@gmail.com, but "separate" addresses are smith+john@gmail.com and smith+jane@gmail.com. This may work for father and son trying to use the same email address for different Clarets numbers. Original address is not affected for other emails.
