Leisure - could you put on a flying bus please?
Getting to Genk looks a bit of a nightmare.

Re: ARTICLE: Pre-season to feature game in Belgium
We’ve given up to be honest - looked at various options with cheapest the flights to Charleroi. Unfortunately it was going to cost a hell of a lot for one friendly and a couple of nights there.

Don’t think they would invite you if they were.

They'll be plenty there, it's only last week people were complaining the games hadn't been announced, and they wanted to make their travel plans... Well now they can.....though I've seen quite a few excuses for not going already

Seems like most people’s reason for not attending is cost isn’t it? Which is not an excuse.

Re: ARTICLE: Pre-season to feature game in Belgium
Totally the case with us. Would have been a lot cheaper with more notice. There were three and possibly four of us going but it just didn’t make sense in the end taking in all the costs. I’d have loved to have gone but just couldn’t justify how much it would be and that was just Friday to Sunday.

Yer for cheap flights you need at least six weeks out , otherwise you will get stung
Re: ARTICLE: Pre-season to feature game in Belgium
Just booked mine now and they went up £40/£50 since it was announced.

Best airport to fly to? Brussels or Eindhoven?

Re: ARTICLE: Pre-season to feature game in Belgium
I'm surprised there isn't a friendly at Turf Moor. Given the levels of the enthusiasm at the moment, a fixture against a decent opponent would have filled the Turf.
We must not need the money.

Re: ARTICLE: Pre-season to feature game in Belgium
Doubt there’s much money to make from a friendly at low ticket prices. But anyway, I saw a few suggest the culvert/Harry Potts Way is still all under lots of work so might not be feasible.forzagranata wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 9:52 pmI'm surprised there isn't a friendly at Turf Moor. Re: ARTICLE: Pre-season to feature game in Belgium
I’ve flown to Brussels RV, Eindhoven is closer but it’s easier to get to Genk from Brussels than it is Eindhoven.

Re: ARTICLE: Pre-season to feature game in Belgium
Serious question… could Accy Clarets actually put a coach on for it if they wanted to ?
It’s only 4hrs longer than Aberdeen.
How much would it be per person just out of curiosity ?
3am from the Turf

Re: ARTICLE: Pre-season to feature game in Belgium
I have lived in Belgium for a number of years and I wanted to share with you what I would do.
Flying - the cheapest route tends to be Man to Charleroi, but Eindhoven is an option. Also don’t forget to look at other UK airports flying from Liverpool or Leeds Bradford may be an option into Antwerp or Eindhoven.
Charleroi is miles from Brussels and Genk, but there is a bus you can get, its easy and can be pre booked or pay on arrival at Charleroi airport, take this bus to Brussels and it will drop you at the central station. It takes around 1 hour. At the train station you can get to Genk by train or most places in Belgium. For trains try this site - https://www.b-europe.com/EN
Staying in Brussels, like any capital is expensive! My advice is look elsewhere there are lots of fantastic cities to see in Belgium, not just the obvious. An example would be go to Leuven, its on the way to Genk and is beautiful with bars and bars around multiple squares! Its more a student city than a tourist place, but it is worth a look.

Anyone thinking of flying into Brussels airport - you need to be ready for 1-2 hours in passport control, assuming that the flight isn’t also delayed.
Re: ARTICLE: Pre-season to feature game in Belgium
Three of us booked flying to charleroi from Manchester. Thursday 13.15 and coming back Sunday at 19.05.
Planning on staying in brussels nd getting rhe train out early on Saturday. Looking forward to another European adventure (even if it is a friendly.)

Re: ARTICLE: Pre-season to feature game in Belgium
With all the new signings could easily get 18,000 on paying 25 quid. Thats 450,000 quid. Plus food, drinks, programme, hospitality etc and its half a million in revenue.
Re: ARTICLE: Pre-season to feature game in Belgium
Been told due to ongoing work in and around stadium no friendlies at homeforzagranata wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 9:52 pmI'm surprised there isn't a friendly at Turf Moor. Given the levels of the enthusiasm at the moment, a fixture against a decent opponent would have filled the Turf.

We are looking into the possibility of running a bus. I'll post again once we know if it's feasible.

There would be uproar on here if the club charged £25 for a friendlyforzagranata wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 11:12 pmWith all the new signings could easily get 18,000 on paying 25 quid. Thats 450,000 quid. Plus food, drinks, programme, hospitality etc and its half a million in revenue.

Helmond sport have an open day same day as the match , so Helmond friday night couple of hours at Helmond Sport then set off to match about 2/3pm. 1 hours drive. If enough want to go that way can possibly get a return coach ( helmond - genk - helmond )
Re: ARTICLE: Pre-season to feature game in Belgium
Just an FYI for anyone looking at going. I signed up to Opordo Prime free 30 day trial and got £45 off my flight price. An hour or so after I just had to do a couple of authorisation tests with Ryanair (move head left, right etc) and it all went through fine.
Then cancelled it this morning once my boarding passes were downloaded to my phone
hassle free.
Hope to see a good few clarets out there UTC

£410 Settle to Genk return - Friday - Sunday.
Decisions decisions.
Re: ARTICLE: Pre-season to feature game in Belgium
£180 for mine rather than £226. Annoyed at myself as the original flight I wanted was £130 but shot up last night.

It's only 2 hours on the train to Brussels from Amsterdam. Plus an excuse for a night in Amsterdam is always good!

If you do Thursday to Monday, you can get Ryanair flights for just over £70 still. The problem we had was having to travel Friday and Sunday.
