Eating out in Leeds

Post by Bosscat » Wed Jul 05, 2023 4:44 pm

Been invited out for a meal in Leeds a week on Monday at "The Cut and Craft" on King Edward St ...

Have any of our Leeds based Clarets had any experience of this establishment 🤔

Hijack the thread.
Any suggestions for eating out Leeds City centre on Sunday.

Equivalent to Wilfreds/Fence Gate not Sycamore Farm before DA starts. Sure DA will have some good recommendations

A friend of mine goes there a lot.

Raves about it.

He doesn't have the best pallette in the world so I can imagine it's quite well done if not brilliant and "the place to be seen" cos he's a bit like that

Whitelocks Ale House (if you can find it up Turks Head Alley just off Briggate) do a great Sunday Lunch ... went last year for my Grandsons 21st (same one who's taking us out a week on Monday 😉) but like most places probably need to book

Zaap does some excellent Thai street food in a quirky setting. Prices are reasonable as well.

A veritable Leeds institution.

Absolutely. I posted about it on a thread a few months ago.

For the money and the quality - the place is really amazing.

My favourite restaurant is Sarto (pasta). Go regularly. Opposite BBC Leeds and next to the Wardrobe

They opened in Manchester a few years back. Been going ever since. Whenever I have pizza from somewhere else I'm reminded just how good Rudy's is.

Thanks for suggestions.
Tried to book Sous Le Nez but was surprised they do not open on Sundays when I rang

Decided on Zaap, where my son enjoyed the tuk tuk we ate in as we've spent a bit of time in various countries in SE Asia. Missed the mega fresh, spicy taste of their dishes in my opinion but was not a bad meal.

Will get through the other recommendations next time we are over 😊

Rudys is very good but I remember a Leeds pizza takeaway called Harpos….now they probably made the best pizzas ever.

You need to book to go in Whitelocks?

I think I now understand what 'gentrification' means.

I used to work in Leeds - must be 20 years ago and that place was fab - great to hear it’s still going strong.

My fave was a pheasant dish - amazing food!

It was an expensive looking menu (imo) but what you had looked very good value. I can’t remember the last time we ate out so I’m completely out of touch with prices. I imagine a round of drinks has you digging deep into your pocket. Anyway it sounds as though you all had an enjoyable afternoon/ evening.

Like I said I wasn't paying ... but a pint of Kirkstall IPA was £6 a pint ...
